First time I heard KH2’s Dearly Beloved play during that scene, I smiled with tears. It made me reflect on how far we followed Sora and Riku. Just a beautiful scene...and redemption arc for Riku.
The KH3 Dearly Beloved is like all of the previous titles combined and to be honest it makes it very cool as a wrap up to the chapter. This one and DDD are my favorite for sure.
8:52 "How long has it been since I met him? At least a year now, perhaps more... Back then, my heart was clouded with vengeance. I did terrible things...both to him and his friends. While the boy slept his long sleep, I hid the results of my research inside him, transplanting the data to where it might best serve a purpose. In fact, I would like to believe... Maybe he can set things right. A boy like him who touches so many hearts, he could open the right door, and save all those people whose lives I managed to ruin. So many are still waiting for their new beginning, their birth by sleep. Even me...and even you. His name...is..." *SORA*
I slightly disagree, i think the playfulness and child like spirit in sora really represent the similarities between the trios through the game Desiny Islands Sora-> child like and playful but also emotional moments and represents light. Riku-> serious and representive of darkness. Kairi-> The one who cares about everyone and wants them to join together. BBS trio: Ventus-> child like and playfull, emotional moements representation of light. Terra-> serious and strong, representation of darkness. Aqua-> the one who cares about every one and want them to get along. Organization trio: Roxas-> child like and playful (all be it less), representation of light. Xion-> serious and emotional, representation of darkness . Axel-> the one who cares about everyone and wants them to get along.
This song is so beautiful and emotive that I go speechless every time I listen to it. It makes me feel nostalgia, but also hope. It makes me smile while a tear drops from my eye. It cheers me up, and then gets me sad. If I had to choose my favourite ones, I'd say 358/2 Days, Kingdom Hearts II and Kingdom Hearts III, closely followed by Birth by Sleep and Dream Drop Distance. What a masterpiece. This song is the reason why Yoko Shimomura is among my favourite composers of all time.
Growing up with Birth by Sleep for 7 years... really makes you have a strong feeling whenever you hear those first seconds of Dearly Beloved. Man, it really makes me remember some things, Kingdom Hearts has a big spot on my heart.
I never really played 358/2, so hearing the dearly beloved theme for the first time I find it really interesting that they switched the main melody and the backing melody, keeping both the tunes but reversing the song. It's like roxas's version of dealy beloved or something.
Someone made a comment about the "feeling" of these on another video but some of those descriptions just don't fit right with me. So here's my take. KH1: Its extremely fragile, like newborn life? Its just really tender unlike the rest. Simplistic and Plain but still gets the message across. COM: The base notes from KH1 aren't as fragile here and when we get whatever type if instrument that plays around 1:40 clearly puts this all around the thought of memories and reminiscing. If you dont believe me, hum it. It'll take you back. Yoko Shimomura knows what she does. KH2: The majority of my theory about this one comes from the notes in the star they hint at something starting. And as the song progresses, you can hear the exact same melody from 1 but its more mature, its about starting a journey, but not your first journey. 358/2 Days: Replacing the Piano with the Flute makes it softer. And when they add the piano the song takes a turn towards sadness. Its not as sad as BBS but its still a soft sadness that'll make you cry. I honestly believe Shimomura is told the plot of the games before she makes some of these themes. BBS: Those tender notes from KH1 come back along with a violin to lay down a sad melody hinting at events to come. The song builds up to 10:06 then a viola solo comes and it just sounds nothing but sad. This version of dearly beloved reflects the entire plot of BBS, the slow sad collaspe of 3 friends. And afterwards, it has a slightly hopeful melody play hinting that all hope for them isn't lost just yet. Re:Coded: The main melody is from KH1 and has some hints to Days as well. But what really makes this one different is the little additions in the back, which makes it seem like a loading page or a "where do we go from here?" type song. 3D: This one is almost a complete combination of all of the Dearly Beloveds' up to this point when it first starts, acknowledging that this is the game that connects everything. Then it breaks into that upbeat cheerful waltz like song to represent the exploration of dreams I suppose. Back Cover: This one is the most unique from all of them imo, its played slow while the strings, usually played to represent sadness bring about hope instead and I do think I heard some of KH3's dearly beloved between the lines near 20:51. That would be a secret foreshadow to KH3 connecting to Back Cover with that ending. KH3: You can hear the original melody within this but this one is way more complicated with the piano, and the notes also carry some fragility with them as well. I personally think this one revolves around the concept of love and how it starts off small and blossoms into something amazing but this is the only one I really don't have a grasp for. The build up could also be a representation for the upcoming final battle but you don't hear any urgency within in, and trust me, if Shimomura wanted urgency it would have urgency. MoM: This one is actually very similar to COMS despite them sounding completely different. They both revolve around reminiscing but to each their own. Unlike COM, this one is upbeat, its fast, its happy. You can still hear the sadness between the notes, but it's not an "I miss it" sadness, it's more of an "I'm glad I got to experience it" sadness.
358/2 has a special place in my heart...first KH game I ever owned and hearing its Dearly Beloved just takes me back to popping open my DS after school to run through a few missions before doing homework 😊😊😊

I think II will always hit me the tiniest bit harder; "back then," when it was first released, it was supposed to be the culmination of everything Sora and Riku had been through, and it sounded that way.
I’m playing this game for the first time and I’m currently in the Wonderland section of the story. I already know that Riku will go dark side and all that jazz, but, I’m really loving these three characters. Sora, Riku, and Kairi. My top 3: KH and CoM are tied for first. Never thought I'd like any version as much as the original, but I actually like Chain of Memories' rendition just as much. Then MoM is in third. I had actually only heard KH, CoM, and KH2 before coming to this video, so most of them were new to me, and I honestly just don't like any versions as much as KH and CoM, but MoM was absolutely not what I was expecting. It's more of a dance tune in MoM than a vibe tune, and I actually really like it, so it takes third place for me.
Always liked the menu theme but honestly my favorite version was a concept done by a dude named Sam Yung on UA-cam. Check it out, he made it as a concept for KH3 before it came out and I thought it was PERFECT! SamYung: “Dearly Beloved”

KH and CoM are tied for first.
1. KH II
2. KH III
3. KH I
Change my mind lol
My top 3 are definitely kh2, 3d and kh3.
my favs are days, KH3, and MoM.
Woohoo Kingdom Hearts 4 Confirmed
KH1's version is and always still the best one IMO. The remixes can't beat the original
It gets happier every game
Always liked the menu theme but honestly my favorite version was a concept done by a dude named Sam Yung on UA-cam. Check it out, he made it as a concept for KH3 before it came out and I thought it was PERFECT!
