@@UnuUO It wasn't just the bair, if you go frame by frame you'll notice Marss actually started a dash into Sparg0's bair and got hit. If he hadn't done that it wouldn't had hit.
IMO seems like Marss wanted to low profile a rising bair and then dash (that's why he was crouching) but Sparg0 delayed it.

They called him washed because he hasn't performed at the level of a top 5 player which he was before.
One tournament is nothing. I do want marss to succeed but I don't know if he can stay consistent.

I felt like Marss made several greedy plays that cost him the set. He missed like 3 or 4 grabs and as ZSS thats counted as overcommitting every time you miss. He also missed the off stage down air which resulted in an SD. Other than that Marss played very well and definitely couldve beat Sparg0. Sparg0 is just too good a majority of the time. Props to both of them. Hope to see how they both place in top 8 later today
The grabs probably came after fair getting beat out by cloud sword and just wanted to get a good hit to start a string or combo. Zair is almost out of the question as you have to be in the air, and if the opponent didn’t already react to the jump, then you can zair. Idk just seems really hard for ZSS. But I did hear Joker is a bad matchup for one of Spargo’s characters, don’t remember Which one tho.
I'm not a Marss fan, but to be fair, a lot of his greedy/aggressive options weren't being punished at all by other top players.

Spargos cloud will always be 200x more fun to watch then his Aegis. His mixups and game plan is far more calculated then Just abusing Aegis busted moves.

I am so glad sparg0 improved a lot from the ceo set it goes to show you never give up after a loss there is always another tournament to improve and try again. It also does not help cloud got buffed and zss got nerfed quite a lot. Maybe marss might try the joker???

Sparg0 is really good
I'll be honest, I didn't give Marss much credit after he shifted into being a "humble content creator", because I thought playing Elite Smash and different characters all the time would put his proficiency in jeopardy, but he actually took a game from #2 in the world, with an SD, sure, but it sure looks like he still could still put out that top 5 energy. The difference with Sparg0 is huge, but Marss does have things to improve on and reach higher.
Also he beat ESAM and Kola earlier, Marss has been playing really well this tournament.
At SWT they 3 stocked each other. Not that surprising. Cloud just has absurd frame data
The game he won didn’t really have an SD. The bair threaten that marss did prevented spargo from recovering. Either spargo gets hit with the bair and dies or he tries to go under and possibly recover.
Marss can surpass Spargo0 for sure, he just needs to keep grinding.

I completely disagree with you; I thought Marss actually outplayed Sparg0 and gave him the win (the mistakes he made were basically SDs, it was not Sparg0 outplaying him, and they are also things he will no doubt correct)

I mean spargo was even able to make the first game a one hit scenario despite sding at around 40% on his first stock. In order for Marss to win I personally think he has to make sure he absolutely capitalizes every chance he has with Cloud off stage. But in terms of neutral game spargo was all over marss.

Spargo is the one who SD'd in the first stock of the first game, then he miss input air dodged offstage and had to burn his limit just to get back to ledge and STILL turned a 3 stock to 1 deficit into a last hit situation. Next game Spargo JD 3 stocked Marss. If you get JV 3 stocked without SDs, you got outplayed. Then the last 2 games (especially the last game) was Spargo straight up outplaying Marss. I'm a Marss fan and subscriber and I have NEVER seen him get read that many times like in that last game. Truth is Marss got outplayed by Spargo.
Good thing Marss had that intangible jump.

Why doesn’t Marss use the tilt stick trick with ZSS in order to stop her drift after flip kick? If you hold left stick towards your opponent and tilt stick in the opposite direction there is no drift after the kick and it would’ve saved him the second game when he got spiked because of it
He does do it but he opted for the regular kick which is usually optimal at that percentage. Also it’s the c stick not the tilt stick

Imo ZSS mains undervalue the importance of wavedash with ZSS. She has a committal jump (cause she has a very high jump height and she doesn't have aerials that don't last long and are disjointed) and depending on the MU she get her jumps baited. Wavedash can fake the jump squat animation and bait people trying to punish her jumps, like Sparg0 did in this match.

Its crazy how balanced ultimate is that we have so many high/mid tiers in top 8: ZSS, Cloud, Byleth. In smash 4 it was just dominated by cloud, bayo, mario, all top tiers

Don’t get me wrong, Marss is insanely good, but in comparison to Spargo I saw so many mistakes on Marss’s part. ZSS is still as broken as ever and he can take these with more practice

Honestly, this tourney is not going as well as I thought it would be, Marss lost to Myran and got eliminated. Tweek and Esam did not do well whatsoever and my favourite player Riddles lost to Sisqui again.
