What’s the movie Good Will Hunting about?
The most brilliant mind at America's top university isn't a student, he's the kid who cleans the floors. Will Hunting (Matt Damon) is a headstrong, working-class genius who is failing the lessons of life. After one too many run-ins with the law, Will's last chance is a psychology professor (Robin Williams), who might be the only man who can reach him. Finally forced to deal with his past, Will discovers that the only one holding him back is himself.
Written by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, this Academy award winning movie is a little work of art featuring many brilliant actors such as the writers themselves as well as Robin Williams, Stellan Skarsgard amongst others.

It's always been interesting to me to see Will's nervousness when Skylar starts telling her story, as if he's uneasy about what their reaction will be, but obviously you can see that tension in him subside when she delivers the punchline which gets a good laugh. There's so many subtleties that you can pick up within the actors' performances in this movie, which is one of the reasons why this has always been one of my favorites.
I think he was uneasy because he has build such huge walls that he can't open up with anyone and he knows that and he is wondering whether he will have ever live that moment with a women when he'll wake up one day on his 50th anniversary.
@@pritpalsingh3609 Sure, but when she slips from the lisp 'glas' shatters the illusion (3:30)
He was nervous about her fitting in b/c she was a smart, beautiful Harvard student and his friends are working class guys. What if she thinks they are losers? What if they think she is snotty? We never know how the important ppl in our life will interact.
Totalmente de acuerdo. Los actores son realmente increíbles!!!los diálogos, reacciones etc ..no encuentro esta escena en castellano
Oh sht, I never noticed that. But yes, it clearly looks that way.
Honestly one of my favorite parts of this movie is how realistic the guys friendships are. Ben afflecks frustration yelling “shut the fuck up” when his brother was interrupting the story was very real lol
Watched this movie for the first time with my wife a few months ago. Told her the relationship with his friends was pretty accurate on how dudes talk to each other.
@@Finkardop it's so true. When I was younger my friends and I used to say absolutely awful things to each other, but all in good fun. As we've gotten a little older we've gotten more mild. But still, good memories.
I'm probably way off but I reckon the mates group scenes were probably written/worked more by Kevin Smith who the lads asked to help with the movie? Lots of the interactions reek of a Kevin Smith scene
The way Ben gets annoyed with Casey is the best.
Probably how they are in real life.
That's brotherly hatred that can't be acted
Because Casey is the better actor and Ben knows he’s arse
@@user-xm6ro1ep5d um ok sure thing
@@Boygonebad I’m speaking facts
Why do I get the feeling that any interaction between Ben and Casey was completely improvised lol
"He got shot?" 😂😂 i love Morgan saying the dumbest things and Will laughing while the others get angry.
The way Casey seemed so ready to go with "well, question" is just priceless!
It’s a movie… not reality
Didn't know about that! Thks
@@mikeblazey3906 fuck me, here I thought Matt Damon was really a math genius
I'll always give credit for Damon and Affleck for this screenplay. It's excellent.
I mean it's their screenplay😅 (and no, there was literally no "script doctor" like some say).
wdym always lol who else would you give it to lmao
@@vengeancegq6ro he means that no matter what happens in ben and matt's extensive career, this will always be revered as some of their best works.
rumor is kevin smith wrote it
@@chudmuffin0no, he just brought it to Miramax. He was a friend of Ben Affleck, Ben and Will were running out of time, since the deal they made with another studio threatened them with losing the script altogether. Miramax bought the script and allowed them to play in the movie.
Love how ben gets annoyed at Casey. "guess I have the floor now" lmao
Absolutely seems improvised.
1:05 I love how Billy first tells Morgan to knock it off when he's trying to divert the attention towards him, so Chuck can carry on telling the story.
Will's face when she's talking 😂 you can see him preparing to cringe
This is genuine acting, looks like a regular weeknight in a bar :)
it’s fucking wild haha. i’m in awe
I'm from Ireland, other than the accents, it's almost identical to something you'd see in a pub here.
True. They had great chemistry together. Especially because Matt, Ben and Casey were so close
The conversation was so genuine. Nice
The few times that Cole Hauser gets on camera, he makes it count. He's mastered acting through his facial expressions.
Let's all be honest, we're all just interested in seeing how young Rip got to be the man he is today.
Why is every scene in this movie so goddamn perfect
That scene is perfect.
Casey "He got Shot"? lol!! Everyone SAYS "YOU HEARD THE STORY BEFORE!!" TOO FUNNY!
The way she looks at Casey to briefly check on him after she laughed at the tension….. shows how empathetic Skylar is.
Wonderfully acted.
I can’t believe Rip is just sitting there when there’s so much work to done at the Dutton Ranch.
You can’t top an acting interaction between two brothers in real life. You’ll never win lol
Casey: “But how did-“
Ben: “SHUT UP”
this scene is always one of my favorites because it feels so real especially when casey was interrupting ben and he just exploded on him had me dying it was just so authentic
Never noticed before..."fisherman's blues" playing in the background. Shit makes me cry.
You are my hero, I was searching everywhere for that
Its amazing how minnie pulls off being in college and shes 27 in this film.
"Give us a kiss" - Hilarious!
Is it though ?? You find that hilarious ?
@@Maximus25N I didn’t think it was
@Noah Fletmann of all the things to get annoyed about though?? Surely there’s more important stuff to be bothered about ?
@Noah Fletmann so does mine. It’s not a funny joke.
I didn’t think it was really funny either… clerks take on snowballing was better
Mary’s Irish accent tho
Yeah it's dreadful.
Yeah yikes
@@thisguy976 it’s a fuckin joke it doesn’t have to be accurate
Errr isn’t Minnie Driver Irish?
I’m Irish and I thought it’s was actually really good as far as impressions go
This is actually what most guys do when one of their friends have a girlfriend. They invite them around and have some drinks or go out for dinner. It adds to the realism.
We're all reacting the same way as Minnie every time Casey starts antagonizing Ben haha
that butterflies in the stomach feeling of the background song
What an Acting Talent! Wow!
The only problem with this is the stupid bleeping everytime someone wants to use a swear. Thankfully or fourtunitly I have this movie on DVD. This is one of my favorite movies. Thanks.
Give us a kiss. Funny decades laters still
Esta escena sobre todo y esta película es jodidamente ingeniosa, una reunión de actores increibles con un guión top
It's funny to see Chuckie to get mad at casey and It's so realistic as Casey is his in real life brother, lmao.
Could've never recognized that one of these good looking fellas will be my favourite Yellowstone's Rip years later...
Fisherman's Blues is some tune
THIS had to be the story to make Will realize that Skylar was the one😂
I always wondered if Casey, Ben and Matt every once in a great while come back to this spot and reminisce
The Mary/Paddie joke is much better when you've a full pint of Guinness in front of you.........
No need to spell it out but you can imagine the effect when there's a full Guinness head and what that would look like!
I don't get it. Is it the foam?
@@MissVampire17Volovo Yes
I’m visiting Boston from England, I visited the L Street Tavern a few hours ago !
Good for ya Mary
The Al Green playing in the background🤙🏼
best movie ever
Great story!
The drunk uncle joke is based on a true story I heard at a rugby party in 1989. I told you it to the USNA rugby team and it made it to the internet. I was stunned when I heard this retold in the movie.
Uhhhh. No. You fell for an urban legend.
Full of shit
Driving home a police car would have happened hundreds of times
Lies
Yea I've heard a few lies before.
Never seen a movie that divides classes so quickly
Man how does Ben stay in character lol
Pretty f*ckin good....🤣🤣💀
A beautiful woman with a sense of humor. Theres nothing more attractive to me.
Beautiful?
@@jwil4905 No?
@@jwil4905 Yes, she is beautiful
@@TheBeatifoulSilence Nah, kinda weird looking with a gooney laugh.
Stronger together than they are apart
When Will's character broke up with Skylar...it turned out to be the best method acting ever.🤫🤔😁
Rip needed more lines 😂
That “oh my God” after the joke is identical to the “Oh my God… you got a hold of that one” from Happy Gilmore
'He got shot?' LOL what a troll
"SHUT THE FOCK OP" was funny af!
Both chucky’s and Skylar’s jokes were funny.
Good acting...
There was this English guy called Dave playing golf !! He was just about to tee off at the third when a funeral procession passes by on the road on the edge of the Golf course ! The hearse at the front is decorated with flowers on the coffin and on the roof in the shape of " Goodbye loving wife and Mother " , " Farewell Mum " and all that sort of stuff !. Dave stops play and turns towards towards the funeral procession takes his cap off , bows his head , sniffs , wipes a tear from the corner of one eye puts his cap back on and then turns around and with a whack of his golf club drives his golf ball off the tee and down the fairway ! Well Dave's Golfing Partners were astonished, in all their years of playing together they had never once seen anything like this from Dave or seen him show any such emotion ! Over come with curiosity one of the golfing partners decided to ask " Dave what was that all about just then when that funeral drove past ? " . Dave replied " Ah well it was the least l could do really ! l mean after all , we had been married for nearly 35 years ! "
Rip has changed his look over the years, he let this go. No branding iron or anything.
the sound design is wicked in this scene. i kept pausing to see where the fuck this music is coming from
Why would you censor the language please don’t
This is youtube, we could have young kids on here.
@Bailotfail Do you have kids? Do you allow them access to everything an adult has access to? Of course you don't.
@Bailotfail So you swear around children? Of course you don't. You censor yourself all the time--not because you don't have a right to express yourself, but because your self expression doesn't trump everything else.
@Bailotfail So would you say that you swear more than normal? For instance, how many times do you swear a day in normal conversation? And do you think that this minimizes your conversation?
When you're really angry, can anyone tell the difference?
@Bailotfail "strangers' kids" "in public and there are children around that I don't know" Well, there you go.
They look like really bad Guinness lol
How unbelievably cute is Minnie Driver in this movie!?
Ugh, not at all
Get your eyes checked
@@fernmann7 Why all the hate for 1998 Mini Driver? 😂
No, not to your comment. The other guy. I think she’s sexy as hell.
@@fernmann7 Probably you are gay

This is when he really got scared ;)

The movie good movie with a great ending
Mawgen! Shaht tha fark ahp!
Which background music is played from 0:00 to 1:46 ?
Bruce wayne looking young here
With Rip from Yellowstone sitting to his right.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I can’t get over the fact that it’s RIP from Yellowstone yelling at Morgan. 😮
The guy in the hat is me when I’m trying to be social
Those are the dodgiest looking pints I’ve ever seen
This is what it felt when I introduced her to my friends..
What happened?
God Bless Minnie Driver
Superb acting xxx
Rip really changed once he got to Yellowstone.
Anyone else notice Al Green playing in the background?
Wills has some great friends. They all try entertaining Skylar
That’s accent can’t stomach it 😂
To be honest, I'd much rather sit and have a drink with these guys rather than young uptown snobs from rich families.
this story has been passed around for decades- its kind of like lore - its not too original writing -honestly
The joke is the only thing that I remember from that movie
When Casey Affleck says "He's always telling stories when he comes here" and the next line from Ben feels ad libbed.
That pause Ben takes before saying "I guess I have the floor now" seems like Ben thinking of a retort before getting back to the script.
Worked out well though.
Casey would go on to become the most accomplished actor of the group.
By what standard?
Casey is a great actor no doubt but both Matt and Ben are more ‘accomplished’ it’s not even debatable
@@PlutozReal let’s go with winning an academy award in acting
Not really but he was fucking great as Robert ford
@@SurferKenTV3 OK, but Matt Damon has also won an academy award and Ben affleck has won two. Both Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have significantly more award wins and nominations than Casey Affleck. So if you are basing your standard on awards received then you are completely wrong.
..he got shot? 😂😂
So basically, Billy got sick of hanging out with these people, moved to Montana and changed his name to Rip Wheeler?
Will, marry her right then and there. What a girl.
I’m not sure I would marry a girl who tries to talk with her mouth full
He got shot, no no, you’ve heard the story before
they ran the train
Any human not laughing at the end of that laint human. 😂
She got a laugh out of Rip
How many ppl understood the line about giving “us” instead of “me” a kiss
12 people didnt
British/Irish people just use us instead of me quite a lot when referring to themselves
Yeah “us” is the Irish “me” to a lot of the country hahaha
As I watched this scene for like the 100th time in my life, I was scanning the comments for answer to the same exact question 🤣
Movie cool
Her British accent nobody questions.
There are few romance stories that measure up to this...
Chevelle is a great car.
Paddie the baddy
He got shot? 😅
Why do I not remember seeing this scene in the movie?
You're less susceptible to the Mandela Effect.
I love Casey
Lol
This is how guys fall in love.
