you can pop off the rings by hand and you squeeze the carbon fiber trim through the openings of cluster. plus, i don't believe you can keep the rings if you install the carbon trim. took my rings out.

Yeah me too. It still lights up orange at night time, so not much different than stock.
Did your gas gauge read okay? I noticed you didn't install it back in the same spot.
you should not remove that by hand... so i'm sure it won't work properly and that why he don't start the engine :)
I'm actually watching this video so I can undo this mod, the previous owner did it and the numbers don't line up with the backlighting behind it and it looks horrible.
He also failed to properly line up the temp gauge
