She is AMAZING! As jadedlace said, she is like magic. She gives me chills and I can relate to every word. She just has this wonderful edge to her voice, and I just never want the song to end!
I remember watching this series, glued to the TV every episode. I also remember thinking how shit it was when they forced singers to sing crap that was either never in their wheelhouse, and/or that they didn't have any interest in singing. Yeah yeah they did it for the views I get that. But if they'd just let this gal sing her own shit she would have been top 3. Too Far Gone and I'll see you soon were gold! That being said, while I was disappointed she got knocked out when she did, in hind sight I'm glad she didn't go further, cos at least she got to follow her musical journey on her own terms, not according to a contract. I saw her live at the old Troubadoor in the Valley in Brisbane (now Black Bear Lodge), can't remember exactly when, but I want to say within 2-4 years after the show, and she sang both of these and the place went nuts! I still get goosebumbs listening to these songs.
Oh and PS I also saw her at the "ZOO" in Brisbane years later, and before she sang "Coin Laundry" (another awesome song) she asked everyone not to throw coins on stage during or after the song. Apparently at a previous gig fans had thrown gold coins on stage and one hit her in the noggin lol. I shouldn't laugh, cos that shit must hurt, but the idea of it kinda cracked me up. ps noone threw any coins during that song, just love, cheers and good vibes.
i think she's a great songwriter and really talented at composing her own music...but i don't know why some ppl are so impressed with her voice...her singing kinda ticks me off :P
nah she was in a season with some great talent ... she struggled a bit with the other genre's ... agree, this is stand out ... gives me shivers ... she did a great version of Cold Plays see you soon ... absolutely stunning ... but cant find it on utube ... on limewire tho ... worth finding ... up there with this effort ... acutally even more amazing! :)
Try these in just power chords, she uses basic bar chords, or a modified power chord (the two notes plus the extra one, ie a G power chord id G+D, the extra would be the main G's octave - your pinky on the next string, same fret =G+D+G). so.... F/// A/// G/// then chorus is: D/// C/// G///
