The spider on mine deteriorated (like dust) I just followed this video to replaced the outer tub (which was the hard part of the job) the rear part to replaced the spider was a cinch. Thanks for this video !
One of the best repair videos I have watched. It is going to be too much of a job for me to do. I also think more might be involved. It's been a good machine. Just that I am too old and female, mostly it's the too old part that is stopping me. I do thank you for the video.
You probably dont care but does someone know a way to log back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid lost the login password. I would love any tricks you can give me!
@Azariah Kason thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and im in the hacking process now. Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
The holes in my outer tub on my kenmore smartwash washer are clogged can I drill the holes larger. I don’t think there is anything behind them that I could hurt. Thank you in advance.
My washing machine is exactly like the one in your video, mine is leaking at the back tub, is it possible to replace the back tub or is it game over? Thank you for the fantastic video!
At 11:46 is that rust on drum I have problem with my Bosch washing machine when ever I wash my clothes after the cycle there r some small mark on my cloths it’s like brown marks
I want to tackle this job, but those steel tub clips and all the tabs .... cannot be easy to reassemble this. I noticed the video stopped and restarted exactly when the difficult parts were at their peak!
Why was the front half of the outer tub in need of replacing? I have one in which the front edge of the front half of the outer tub basically shredded, is that what happened to the tub in the video (possibly visible at about 13:00? What might have caused this condition? Thank you.
@@luisruelas6899 Thanks for the comment Luis, but in my case it was on level ground and was sitting securely and square (level). It was more costly to replace the damaged parts than to replace the whole unit. I completely disassembled the whole machine, scrapped the cabinet and damaged parts, and posted all the electronics, weights, motor, soap dispenser gaskets, etcetera, as available on Facebook market place. As you might expect, I got no interest and it is all sitting in boxes in my garage. LOL.
@@johnwoehriii3974 I had the same situation you had John, front lip of the front tub shredded. I'm not sure what maintains a margin between the inner and outer tubs, but the machine did get badly out of balance once, and shredded after that.
@@ericmaynard3058 I was surprised that cost wise it was not worth fixing. I replaced the washer with a very similar, new Whirlpool. I completely disassembled the old machine, and put the parts up for sale on FB Marketplace, got no interest, it was a "Make an Offer". facebook.com/marketplace/item/2165564983736750/
The spider bracket on the back of the basket is broken. It is not serviceable and Whirlpool has completely obsoleted the replacement parts, 8181668 or 8182247 or WPW10269756. When the spider bracket breaks, the whole basket wobbles inside the front & rear tub assembly, wiping out the front edge of the front tub part, W10772607. It's kind of weird that both the front and rear tub parts are still available; W10772607 & W10772618 plus gasket, WP8181673 but the tub is not. You might be able to find reconditioned spider brackets on eBay and it is removable from the back of the stainless steel basket with 6 bolts. I ended up replacing the Kenmore Elite H3 unit with a new Whirlpool unit, WFW5620HW, for about the same price of finding all the parts. Hey, I got 27 years out of the German built Kenmore Elite H3 washing machine! Not bad, eh!
@@gregsickmeier4893 thank you I was about to replace mine. Is it always the spider bracket breaking that causes this?..... My wife said the washer sounds loud and just kept using it and it shredded the front part of the tub
Just happened to mine about 3 weeks ago. I had the repair guy come out so he could tell me it would be 1500.00 to fix the tub! Then told me that you cant even get the parts anymore????? Well I am limping along washing and spinning on low and smaller loads till I figure out what to do. I have a matching pair with the pedistles, hate to think of that in a landfill.
Also, I can find the parts but who knows if that will fix it or I need more repair. With they just made these appliances without all the bells and whistles. I have never used 3/4 of the setting on this control panel and do I really need WiFi? wtf
Can I ask, Did you replace because of plastic shredding from the front tub between the metal tub and outer tub area? I’m trying to figure out what I need to replace. I see something here about the spider bracket, I’m wondering if that’s what is causing the problem I have
super helpful, this helped us fix our leaky washing machine! great video

Thanks! Very clear instructions. My repair took no time and no more leak!
Glad it helped!

I 3watched a lot of videos on how to do this, and this one was the most helpful. Thank you!
Thank you for this fine video! I thought we were buying a new washer until I learned the front tub could be replaced.

Thanks for posting these! Found a loose connection in top control panel and solved the F11 code!🤙🏻

Is it necessary to replace the large gasket between inner and outer tub?
It looks like the gasket (o-ring) comes with the front half of the tub.
I want to tackle this job, but those steel tub clips and all the tabs .... cannot be easy to reassemble this. I noticed the video stopped and restarted exactly when the difficult parts were at their peak!
Movie magic! That's how warranty times are established too....
Yes, all the clips are probably the worst part of this job.

Your washer might not be on completely level ground, causing it to spin and bang around. Happened to mine -_-
In my case, I think the outer cover was actually missing the gasket, so the tub was spinning directly on the plastic!
This video is very helpful.

great with many thanks.

Why not clean the rim of the inner tub. It was very dirty.
This is insane just to remove the damn rubber tubing
