  • Cambodia's semi-evergreen forests provide a rich habitat for a diverse range of bird species. Some notable residents include the Green Peafowl (Pavo muticus), a majestic bird with iridescent green plumage and a long train of tail feathers on the males.
These endangered birds favor areas with permanent water sources and can be found in dry deciduous forests as well. Another interesting resident is the White-winged Duck (Cairina scutulata), an elusive nocturnal species that relies on standing or slow-flowing freshwater wetlands. Sadly, this bird has suffered a sharp population decline due to habitat loss and hunting.
