Another enjoyable video, looks like you are getting a grasp on the game, nice.
I think I can shed some light on a couple of your thoughts in the video. The software firewall is not yet implemented in the game - like many things on the roadmap for the alpha, hence the greyed out icon. You can however set up firewalls in the router configuration, this is mostly used for multiplayer, and you probably want to do it on a rental network so the NPC admins don't mess with it.
You can trigger user online exploits by running things on the system, you can see what you or someone else is running with ps.
You can use different methods to throw off the trace system, deleting logs is one method, but you can also swap Wi-Fi or use a "proxy chain" by routing your connection and then clean the logs on systems you connected through. Basically, you need to cut the link between your original computer and the target in some way. The tutorial mission does not trace you and many admins in the game are lenient, you also get 3 strikes with warning messages before your system is wiped when they do trace you.
For your multiplayer journey, I might suggest that you restart until you get a starting location with several Wi-Fi's in range. Then you can swap to a fresh IP for every video you make, so players watching you can't find and mess with you when you play/record. You can try out other methods, I use a hardened server for my videos for example, but this seems the most beginner-friendly to me. Experiencing getting hacked can be interesting and worthwhile as well, if you want to go that route.

Thanks for watching and for all the tips along the way. I'll keep these in mind when I make the switch.

When you buy exploits, there is a box to get the source code version.
That will help you a lot develop cool stuff. You will start noticing some patterns in the exploits names.
You can even develop a single exploit for many versions.

Cool. Thanks for the tip. I'll take a look at that next time I play.

I am just in the midst of enjoying this series for the first time. Awesome game that I've never played myself and only learned about it's existence a few days ago. There were even recent updates as it seems. Well, I am glad that you thought about increasing the UI scale back up again, because it was really way harder to read anything indeed.

Thanks for watching. I came back for Grey Hack last summer as well. I'll probably be doing another series this summer too.

@@AFascinatingChap Always rooting for those indie games a lot. It's such a tough, tough environment and can be heartbreaking to read when someone spent 5 years on a game and nobody cares at all or they get some early bad reviews from ignorant brats. There's no doubt that Grey Hack is a love child with caring parents and I'm looking forward to see the other parts of the series, as well as some of your other videos. I recently played the good old "Sherlock Holmes - Case Of The Rose Tattoo" (1996) - unfortunately the ending was bugged - and I love all the audiobooks, so I am definitely interested in those Let's plays, too. And like other comments already mentioned in regards to this series, it's cool to get to hear your small lectures as well in addition to the game itself. So, best regards from over the big pond.

The number system for grading in schools is used in Europe. You are mostly graded on a maximum of 10 so in order to pass you have to get a minimum of 5

Hello. Who plays multiplayer, what online today? I do not want to pirate, but if there is no online, then there is no point in buying the game.

@@AFascinatingChap You're welcome. I almost created an improved version of this program, called subkill, because subnet functionality is sometimes lacking. But with subnet it is already possible to hack almost any computer
