When I was 6 years old and living in the San Diego area, there was an afternoon clown show on local TV (don't remember the name) but they had kids on the show for birthdays. My mother wrote in and I got to be on the show for my 6th birthday. Ferlin Husky, who was known as Terry Preston at the time, sang a song to all of us birthday kids and when he sang the song, he picked me up and sat me on his lap.......
In the 60's my husband had his band in Germany (Hometowners USA) and booked Ferlin to fly there and use his band as backup. Wonderful entertainer and person.
I understand what your mom felt,I lost my daddy at age 16 and Ferlin got me thru that trawful time and the love of my life up and married a girl(for lack of a better word)I got him back and we have been Mattie’s 44 years,Thank you,Ferlin for being there when I thought the world had ended.God bless your Mom too. I'd compare this favorably with Marty Robbins' "Don't Worry About Me." Singing about equal, but he lyrics on "Gone" are superior. Both great artists to be sure!

Marty's and Ferlin's birth dates are really close. Ferlin 12/3/25, Marty 9/26/25.
I'd compare this favorably with Marty Robbins' "Don't Worry About Me." Singing about equal, but he lyrics on "Gone" are superior. Both great artists to be sure!
