Thanks for mentioning my review. Glad to see the niche Tales games getting a bit more cover on UA-cam. After the 20th Symphonia review we need a Tempest/Innocence/Hearts review now and then. Have you covered Innocence yet?
I hope to get to Innocence someday, after I play it. I'm playing Hearts now so will probably cover that one first. Thanks for watching, and I enjoyed your Tempest review.
@@rpg_haven Heads up I not a huge fan of Hearts R. Its very vanilla, Kor is kind of a lame MC and I'm not a huge fan that the game only has subs. Also the combat just doesn't feel right to me. Just though I should let you know so you don't go in with too high expectations.
Seeing Dotnw ranked that high is pleasant to see, most don't like the new characters or even the story, but I liked and was fond with both. The story was a fine link that added more connections to Phantasia, Emil and Marta not being well like among most fans, the both of them are among my favorites. Gameplay wise the game was pretty enjoyable, was a standard tales title, minus the couple of discrepancies I had for the game.
I like it from a nerdy, optimization point of view. DOTNW is a ton of fun to break, getting the best monsters and whatnot, but the characters and story are painfully cliche and boring. It's a fun game but not what I typically look for from Tales.
I’ve played it, and I think it was pretty fun too and I agree with you about the visuals. I like the N64 style still too. I didn’t play the fan patch though, but I probably should’ve since my Japanese wasn’t great then. Though I didn’t like Tempest’s battle system or dungeon crawling much at all. Story was ok and the characters were fun and I cared about them. I honestly would like if it got a remake like Tales of Innocence but it may not happen. I’m glad some Tempest characters were in spin-off games.
I just downloaded Innocence and Tempest. Wish I could try Hearts out but it’s only in Japanese.. English patch was dropped because of the Vits version. Sucks cause I don’t own a vita or anything that can run Vita emulation
This phenomenon where people trash games online they have never played is an epidemic tbh. Happened with FF13 and TLOU2 Screams "follow the crowd" to me 😅
Leave a like and subscribe for weekly RPG videos. We're almost to 500 subs!
Tales of Rebirth as a similar battle system. Travesty that Rebirth was never brought over to the West.
Agreed. That's one of the few I still need to play. It's good to hear the combat is similar

@@rpg_haven Which version of Hearts are you playing. I'm played R already and am about to dive into the Orignal version on the DS.
@@xenosanctum2531 R. I probably won't play the original since there's so many other RPGs on my plate, but maybe someday

What's your take on Symphonia Dawn of The New World?

I’ve played Tempest for very little so I’d be willing to give it another shot, especially since there’s an English patch out now.

You can find Vitas for fairly cheap on occasion. Hearts is worth it, great game

It's so weird to me that you've got a channel dedicated to JRPGs and yet you don't care about the story XD
I do care about the story, it's just not one of the most important things to me in most games
I enjoyed the game's story, despite it flaws.
Putting Berseria under Graces f... What a disgrace!
Hahah, Graces f is my favorite Tales game. I love the combat (the story, not so much).
@@rpg_haven The combat is fantastic. My favorite.
But the story, the characters and the scope are weak. But you're not a story guy so...
i played so many tales games and for real this game was shiet
I think you went too easy on it just because it's on DS. There are plenty of great RPGs on DS.
I don't quite follow your logic, but I appreciate the comment
