- My son, age 10, wanted me to write a song about bullying, with the idea that he could be the one to intervene and help the victims. He also wanted to sing it. Here it is.
This song also marks my first ever attempt at a guitar solo!
If you like this song, consider listening to my other songs on Youtbe, especially those sung by my now-11-year-old son, Connor. Just click on my picture above to go to my channel, or follow this link:

Lyrics:
A boy lies in the sand, head between his hands,
And he’s trying to find the strength to stand again.
But the bullies from the town
Are there to keep him down
Every time he tries to turn and walk away
I have seen this all before, a dozen times or more
But my courage always hides behind the fear.
I don’t even know his name,
But driven by the shame,
I call aloud so everyone could hear:
Refrain:
I will walk with you, brother, all the way.
I will stand with you, brother, come what may.
When your hope is all but lost,
I won’t give up the cause;
I will walk with you, brother, all the way.
A girl who’s known to me, a friend since we were three,
Says the joy she used to feel has shrunk away
For the parents, peers and schools
Are making all the rules
And they shun the ones who dare to disobey.
There’s a child deep inside, the one we try to hide
And it holds the key to love and empathy.
But in the rush to be mature
The path becomes obscure
So, if you wanna be the girl you used to be:
Refrain:
I will walk with you, sister, all the way.
I will stand with you, sister, come what may.
When your hope is all but lost,
I won’t give up the cause;
I will walk with you, sister, all the way.
There’s a brother and a sister on an unfamiliar shore
They have lost the only home they’ve ever known.
But the diplomats and bureaucrats
Are self-concerned with this and that;
They never put their feet upon the road.
Refrain:
But, I will walk with you, brother, all the way.
I will stand with you, sister, come what may.
When your hope is all but lost,
I won’t give up the cause;
We will walk with each other, all the way.
Refrain: (key change)
We will walk with you, brother, all the way.
We will stand with you, sister, come what may.
When your hope is all but lost,
We won’t give up the cause;
We will walk with each other, all the way.
