Sarah definitely feels like a Darby type of writer. A writer willing to delve deep within a character's identity even if it means sacrificing story pacing or dynamism. And I love that. My 3 fav AC games are Black Flag, Valhalla and Revelations and all 3 focus far more on the psychology of the characters rather than the theatrality of the franchise or the grandiousnes of the period being relived (not to say that these games lack grandious moments) Also: The symbol you're discussing around 10:10 (the ''two snakes'' one) is a torn ''wanted'' poster I believe.
That's definitely the vibe that I got too! Something that I really appreciate about Darby is his commitment to forego smybols and references - always servicing his characters and themes, even when that comes at the expense of explicitly servicing fans. Seeing Sarah prioritise Basim's identity and the themes that are at the core of the Assassin's Creed (doctrine, not game) gave me a huge amount of faith in her. Already hoping she becomes a franchise mainstay.
@@WalshieYT1 my only complaint is that it seems like they're wasting the opportunity to allow Sarah to prove people that Modern Day is worth having in the game. The ''two snakes'' is actually a wanted paper being torn apart. It indicates a wanted poster location. I've also seen people say that the smoke bomb isn't throwable. However if you go to 18:15 you can see the player aiming the smoke bomb and then pressing I'm assuming Y, or Triangle on PS, to quick drop the smoke bombs. The assassin focus bar i calculated it that u need kill enemies in stealth and for 1 bar u need to kill 3 or 4 enemy for 1 bar and for all of it u need to kill 15 or 20 enemies in stealth way
Really loved this gameplay walkthrough, the lack of manual parkour moves does suck tho. I feel like Baghdad's city design plus the control and freedom from the ezio games could've been the best parkour system ever put in the series

I really hated how our use of tools were directly tied to our Adrenaline meter rather than an actual number of equipment we were carrying Small things like this go SUCH a long way in terms of immersion
Your conclusion is what i am thinking as well, the small studio from what we have seen have put something very good together with the constraints ubisoft have placed onto them
I have watched almost every review of mirage and I gotta say that was the best by far. talking about both the negatives and the positives in an unbiased way and not sounding upset at them using the Valhalla engine which upset most people. and discussing everything in detail great job man.
Great seeing you back! These last couple of trailers have been promising and i hope the game does well. My only worry is the release window being 10 days before spider man 2
Your optimism surrounding this game is remarkably refreshing, and I can't help but agree after the pleasant surprises that the presentation gave us. The 'two snakes' looks to be a wanted poster marker, indicating like in the old games where to go to take down a poster and reduce your notoriety. The flower is likely your main objective of some kind. I also appreciate how the limitations of the Valhalla movement system are lessened somewhat by improvements to his speed and simply increasing verticality of the game space, though I wouldn't mind seeing the side eject or the back eject return at the very least. It's not perfect, but it's not awful. On Assassin Focus, I think the ability is due to Basim's status as reincarnated Isu, allowing him such intense speed and precision that the man-made Animus can't accurately render what's going on. I'm not super jazzed by it either and would prefer to see the animations, maybe sped up to illustrate the same effect, but it's not a huge dealbreaker for me.
I liked that you spoke about the religious part if the showcase. One of the reasons I loved Bayek so much is because of his religious values and the beliefs he held in his gods. By far one of the best performances in the franchises. Would love to see Ubisoft tackle a Christian assassin without mocking the religion. Eivor also had a trait I really liked. While he was a Norse warrior believing in his gods, he was open to learning more about the Christians in his game. It was a really nice detail that I greatly appreciated.
But the whole point of the creed is that the religious beliefs of the individual assassins don't matter , the reason there's a focus on Islam at the start of the franchise is because of the actual assassins and their origins but I do agree Bayek felt more like a 3 dimensional character thanks to his religious beliefs .
@@Retr0_Blues I never noticed a focus on religion in AC 1. Sadly, AC portrays the Templars as evil men most of the time even if it isn't true. I like the lore around AC but I for one feel like it is anti Christian sometimes. The reason I liked Bayek is due to how religiously powerful he is. No matter what, his religious beliefs stood firm and even if he found or saw very weird things, he took up his faith as it was a shield and sword. I think it's long overdue that Ubisoft represents a Christian assassin. Probably won't happen but it's a missed opportunity in my book. I do like that the games don't focus on religion, but the RPG games do, and Eivor being so open to learning about the Christian religion and having an open mind was another reason his character was so great. I appreciate Ubisoft not forcing religion but I love to see religious characters in a franchise that has its foundation in questioning any religious belief.
I actually enjoyed Odyssey and Origins, but AC Mirage looks very promising and intriguing. I like almost everything about this game so far, and I am extremely excited. Overall very impressed by Ubisoft, especially because they’re releasing Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora soon after. I hope Ubisoft sticks the landing and is able to pull this off. I would be very interested in future AC games if they are like this. Though I do kind of miss some of the things in Odyssey and Origins, including the different armor and weapons as well as side quests. I also like playing RPG games soooo… Anyways, great video Walshie and I hope you have a good rest of your day!
10:18 it looks like the shop for the real money skin shop since every ac which has an skin shop in which there is a way to earn the skins through ingame and it looks like this
in the walkthrough they talked about the upgrade system of weaposn so if you climb the ranks in the brotherhood you can unlock upgrades for the weapons like berserker and poison darts for the blowpipe
I’m actually starting to get kinda stoked for this game. I wish they’d add blood effects like we say in Ghost of Tsushima. Where basims robes etc get blood splatter
Actually Havi was also another name for Odin. For some reason they just changed the name to…hide it or something? I dunno it doesn’t make sense to me. 16:27 also it’s said that berserk darts are upgrades
I am getting a very different impression of Roshan. In my eyes she is the very cold en cruel mentor from the outside. But from the inside she sees the potential of basim and is secretly very proud of him.
I rewatched the story trailer and had an absolutely horrible theory - since Nehal is there as a presence to challenge Basim's perspective and make him question his devotion to the Hidden Ones, much like Odin tested Eivor during moments of leadership...what if she is actually the manifestation of Loki? That she isn't real at all, and she appears to Basim as a kindred spirit in his earliest years in the city of Anbar as a fellow thief/trickster to calm him during moments of loneliness or fear due to his nightmares? So far in the marketing, we haven't seen her interact with anyone but Basim and she's supposed to be his only friend before he meets the Hidden Ones. Granted they haven't shown much but...if Sarah wasn't just lying about the Djinn not being Loki I feel like making her Loki and having the Djinn be something stupid like Odin would be the only other route they could take. I hate everything about this theory because I don't think Loki was ever afraid of Odin and openly challenged him and even fought him on multiple occassions, rather he was only scared of what would happen to his child so him appearing as this nightmarish creature just makes no sense in the context of their previous relationship. But they could totally work this in as the reason that he drifted away from the Hidden Ones for a while and caused a rift between him and Roshan, because Loki's memories masquerading as his best friend pushed him down this route. Guess we'll find out what they actually did soon
Man. That seems scarily plausible. Considering that Mirage is set to take on some of the grand themes of Valhalla without the grand presentation, it would make a lot of sense for Sarah to have given Loki a form that is more literal, and digestible for people who disliked Valhalla. Up until now, I've honestly just imagined that Sarah was telling a half-truth with the whole "The Djinn isn't what you think it is" thing; I imagined that the Djinn would be a representation of Loki that was a bit more abstract and open for interpretation than Eivor's exchanges with Odin, that it would represent broader ideas like fate and destiny in a way that's accessible for new players. The Odin thing does seem more likely than what would ostensibly be a lie on Sarah's part. I've really not read any of the theories for Mirage (if there are very many), but that does seem to track with the way that both Nehal and the Djinn are talked about. I feel like it would be a major misstep for both Basim and Eivor's characters to reframe Valhalla like that. Shifting dynamics like that would dull the greyness in their relationship so much and damage Valhalla's story so badly that I think it HAS to be something else. I have no idea what it could be though. montreal save bordeaux ruin the next year?
@@WalshieYT1 Yeah I'm not really sure but man it actually just makes so much sense the more I think about it. Loki has never liked serving anyone and his own mentor figure betrayed him - it's so strange that Nehal mirrors those challenges to Basim almost 1:1 and I'm so certain she has to be related to this in some fashion. Obviously I could just be overthinking it and they ended up doing what we expect with the djinn after all but I'm really just curious to see this story through and know if they really did manage to remain consistent with Valhalla or if they fumbled the prequel.
So with the parkour someone brought up the idea that since basim is still an apprentices his movement is sharper but not as fast so as the game goes on he will get faster as well as they may have ability to make him faster.
I enjoyed the trailer. The game looks like a lot of fun. I’m excited to see the Hidden Ones in action again and to do some fun stealth explore Baghdad and do some parkour moves.
Mirage looks promising how ever I’m little worried about the villain. The villains in previous AC games were forgettable except AC 2’s villain and brotherhood’s villain I liked Connor’s dad as a villain I want Ubisoft take the time with the villain in mirage. The developers are really trying their best I’ll give credits to developers this was so much better then gameplay trailer in my opinion.
The parkour can be made satisfying if the level design is on point, which seems to be case. However, in terms of narrative and focus on stealth, this game looks promising.
I can't wait to play Mirage, but I really hate that teleportation. I wonder if we can eliminate two targets close to each other as it was in the old games without just throwing the dagger.
One thing i wanna say as a Muslim, that we great with Asslam u alaikum (peace be upon you) not Alhamdulillah lol, but the story looks Promising for me too
The mechanics itself is still Valhalla, just “faster” with more animations and “options”. The closest thing Mirage has so far to the older games is the corner swing, no side ejects or anything.
The city looks gorgeous! Love more stealth options but I’m very curious what Mirage has in the way of combat. Seems like they intentionally left that out.
I'm remaining cautious! I think parkour is virtually unsalvageable, but stealth and story could lift Mirage into 6/10 territory. That's like an Assassin's Creed 9/10!
I felt like I watched an Origins DLC gameplay. Everything looked just the same. I guess I'm not disappointed because I don't care anymore. Welcome back Champ!
Looks promising, the only thing I don't like is the "Assassins Focus". Not a fan of Basim teleporting himself, and I don't care how it's justified, him having powers or the animus glitching, it's lame either way.
I just wanna say if they fix the stealth for this game, I want them to go back and do it for valhalla, if for no other reason other than the fact that that game will probably have more players than mirage long term
I wonder though with regards to the smoke bombs. Would it be like in Unity where its throwable or like in AC2 where you can just drop it at your feet? The gameplay just showed us using it for escapes and not to create assassination opportunities
Guys, do you remember absolutely stunning mo-cap cutscenes from Unity? 😊😢 Or how responsive was Connor in AC3? Or how deep parkour was in AC1, 2, e.t.c. Why if you mention this on AC forums, people don't like it? Why is wanting sequel to include previous games great features is mortal sin? 😂😂
What do you mean ac fans love bitching and moaning about how the Ezio games were better and I mean I agree with most of the general critique but let's not pretend like you have some out of the box hot take or anything.
3:38 There will be no norse mythology on this one or no mythology at all? It would be very interesting to understand The ISU as The Djinn. For a long long time i'm starting to identify those Isu as the fallen angels of the biblical narrative. Because in the biblical narrative they were the ones that wre worshiped as gods in the ancient world. 1 Corinthians 10:20 = "the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God"
@@mathiascerf1092 wasn’t saying anything about the analysis, just pointing out the official reason for her look. Also, not sure if you can make that connection. Canonically, Ezio might have only chosen his revelations outfit (maybe also that weird one from nexus). Otherwise he wore his father’s outfit and the one given by Machiavelli. If anything the robes were designed to fit the renaissance aesthetic rather than his mode of operation. The face on the poster is left blank on purpose due to Islamic religious concept that Muslims can’t draw human faces in paintings and drawings human faces is forbidden in Islam . This pretty historically accurate.
Only the faces of religious figures are forbidden to be drawn. Persian miniatures always include drawn faces except ofc for religious figures who had their faces covered by a veil.
@@Nik-ek2mq This is Baghdad not Persia both places follow a different sect of Islam. This thing with faces specifically forbids drawing human eyes. Thus most drawings in the Arab region of the Middle East not Persian have faceless figures
It's something to keep in mind, sure, but this is promo - it was designed to be judged! With 4 months (max) left of dev, I think this is near enough the final picture.
I don’t think the game cinematics will be very good from what we’ve seen so far….I wish they would have use motion capture as the others even though the game is shorter than others
What did a famous Mon Calamari Admiral once say? "IT'S A TRAP!" I really hope the people who worked on this were actually passionate about it and about the classics, but I doubt it. And even if they were, Ubisoft's higher ups are just after as much money as they can squeeze out of it and will force them to build the game around that.
@@carlwajihassaf8219 nah it really is like that, the face models are very shit, the way they move, talk and facial animations in general and honestly crap, but besides that graphics in general are pretty solid as well as stealth though it needs a bit of work in smoothness and fluidity, gameplay is good but teleportation sucks lol
1:27 this clunky , non fluid combat section of Roshan looks horrendous. The second guard just stands there looking at her as she does an idiotic wall jump and does a half arsed back kick ,sending the braindead guard flying... that looks way to similar to the retarded fight scenes in woke cultist hollywood films, where the pathetic woman just flails around incoherently and effortlessly takes out multiple massive male enemies, also conveniently standing around to fall over when the wamen so much as glares at them. Keep it 100% Historical. (I loathe the teleportation assassinations but I am sure that BS will be optional.) I loved that AC1 gave tiny hints about God Three in One's existence/presence but that was never the focus. (Subtle hints of Muslim demons /Jinn is mysterious ,accurate yet palpable as long as they don’t go overboard with it. ) In Unity you use a corner to remain out of sight, assassinating an enemy around a corner you kill the target and you neatly place the body against the wall you were hiding against also out of sight. I REALLY hope this will be present in Mirage. I just hope the weapons in Mirage will be historically accurate, the shitty fantasy blades I have thus far seen in the trailers look horrific. I want to see ME Shamsiers,Persian Scimitars, Turkish Kilijes , Byzantine Spathas and praying for the Byzantine Paramerion. At least the weapons wielded by the guards thus far look superb. The moves and combat is fluid and you have Horrus !!! My lovely pet falcon to help you once more and you have a single hidden blade that you can use in combat! Please give us the ability to choose what weapon layout to use. I want to use a single handed knife or a single handed sword. Don’t force us to constantly use a set layout like Sword+sword or Sword + dagger. I much rather prefer the weapon layout of AC1,2,Brotherhood compared to the forced double handed layout of Black Flag/Rogue. I truly hope we will have proper combat in the game such as the superb melee combat from AC1 ,2 and Brotherhood. No damage numbers , no health bars, I want only good fluid combat with counters and beautiful deadly movesets. Like this first 4 games in AC. The fact that you have to gain rank in order to obtain better gear and combat abilities makes me so happy. I love that. Just like in AC1. I really hated how our use of tools were directly tied to our Adrenaline meter rather than an actual number of equipment we were carrying
Small things like this go SUCH a long way in terms of immersion
OMFG If anyone has watched Arcane Roshan's voice actor is Grayson!!! Such an amazing voice actor I'm so excited just for this now
Gosh your video is pur gold! Good work!
You got me to play Valhalla and after that I swore I wouldn’t play mirage. I’m starting to change my mind because of you again.
To everyone saying parkour sucks. Ubisoft confirmed months ago that Basim learns parkour and will hone his skills throughout the game.
I'm not super jazzed by it either and would prefer to see the animations, maybe sped up to illustrate the same effect, but it's not a huge dealbreaker for me.
wow. great video sir. this world is amazing.
What a rare treat, good to know you're not yet done with UA-cam, then.
Very well put together Analysis! well done.
The relationship of the creed with faith as a video would be awesome! Cant wait about that one
The only reason I even care about AC anymore is to see Walshie’s videos.
I also like playing RPG games soooo…
Anyways, great video Walshie and I hope you have a good rest of your day!
I love the one guard just waiting for his turn.
10:18 it looks like the shop for the real money skin shop since every ac which has an skin shop in which there is a way to earn the skins through ingame and it looks like this
The parkour is actually faster than they showcased Basim wasn’t sprinting full speed that’s why it looked slower than some other footage
Yeah I also noticed that.
Thank some one that isn't a whining little girl with no knowledge or too lazy to actually look
Sub! Lovely voice and great analysis!
in the walkthrough they talked about the upgrade system of weaposn so if you climb the ranks in the brotherhood you can unlock upgrades for the weapons like berserker and poison darts for the blowpipe
I loved the snippets of music so far! I’m also excited that we can play the whole game in Arabic
I’m actually starting to get kinda stoked for this game. I wish they’d add blood effects like we say in Ghost of Tsushima. Where basims robes etc get blood splatter
lets hope hidden blade combat is back
Hopefully but knowing that the hidden blade wasn’t used in combat too often it probably won’t happen
Honestly I'm pretty excited for the story. Sarah seems like she knows what she doing.
Obviously I could just be overthinking it and they ended up doing what we expect with the djinn after all but I'm really just curious to see this story through and know if they really did manage to remain consistent with Valhalla or if they fumbled the prequel.
great analysis
I love you Walshie
So with the parkour someone brought up the idea that since basim is still an apprentices his movement is sharper but not as fast so as the game goes on he will get faster as well as they may have ability to make him faster.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the “flowery symbol” is some sort of quest marker, the other one I have no clue
We going back to the roots: teleport chain killing
The parkour can be made satisfying if the level design is on point, which seems to be case. However, in terms of narrative and focus on stealth, this game looks promising.
Apart from the whole "Valhalla re-skin" feeling I'm getting, this looks really promising.
I can't wait to play Mirage, but I really hate that teleportation. I wonder if we can eliminate two targets close to each other as it was in the old games without just throwing the dagger.
One thing i wanna say as a Muslim, that we great with Asslam u alaikum (peace be upon you) not Alhamdulillah lol, but the story looks Promising for me too
They should have hired some iraqi for this project
Like what they did with origin
The weapon is not in its sheath, it just floats next to it.
Beautiful
To us muslin in particular jinn is not a myth. So we are gald they put jinn in game unfortuantly it is connected to viking one.
The parkour looked a bit slow still.
From what it seems like, combat is still present, but no idea for the format.
Better than expected?? May I ask, what exactly were you expecting?
10:13 I believe that's a wanted poster for you to remove.
I'd agree with you were it not for the marker at 11:12. I think that one looks more wanted poster-y.
@@WalshieYT1 ooh good point, one of them definitely is though :)
@@WalshieYT1 Did you check it from the 4K footage? The live was 1080p and very blurry.
excited🎉
Me seeing Walshie get his hopes up like he did for Valhalla
I'm remaining cautious! I think parkour is virtually unsalvageable, but stealth and story could lift Mirage into 6/10 territory. That's like an Assassin's Creed 9/10!
@@WalshieYT1 Honestly the feeling of being an assassin is enough for me not to pirate Mirage, I hope they can atleast do that.
I felt like I watched an Origins DLC gameplay. Everything looked just the same. I guess I'm not disappointed because I don't care anymore. Welcome back Champ!
Yeah they should've gone this route after origins. Why build up the creation of the creed and not do anything with it after? (Odyssey)
Looks promising, the only thing I don't like is the "Assassins Focus". Not a fan of Basim teleporting himself, and I don't care how it's justified, him having powers or the animus glitching, it's lame either way.
How is it lame?
@@dragonbornexpress5650 Breaks immersion, it's lazy, uninspired and unoriginal.
Wah sangat hebat bro gamenya ini saya sangat suka dan menikmati selamat sukses amin.
I just wanna say if they fix the stealth for this game, I want them to go back and do it for valhalla, if for no other reason other than the fact that that game will probably have more players than mirage long term
I think that's fairly impractical.
I really dont how can they cannot fix bad facial animations from odyseey and valhalla… the rest of gameplay looks really good tho
Facial animation work is more complicated than you think.
I like the environmental stuff
I wonder though with regards to the smoke bombs. Would it be like in Unity where its throwable or like in AC2 where you can just drop it at your feet? The gameplay just showed us using it for escapes and not to create assassination opportunities
No idea.
So what you're saying is that I get to finally play an assassin's creed game where I'm an assassin/hidden one again? About damn time.
Would like a time stamps
Good shout. Have added them now 👍

Guys, do you remember absolutely stunning mo-cap cutscenes from Unity? 😊😢
Or how responsive was Connor in AC3?
1 Corinthians 10:20 = "the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God"
>right bumper for sword attack and assassinations
L
doesn't the cosplay guide says roshan’s outfit is inspired by Ezio’s?
And Ezio was an assassin that favored combat so his analysis is pretty accurate
@@mathiascerf1092 wasn’t saying anything about the analysis, just pointing out the official reason for her look. Also, not sure if you can make that connection. Canonically, Ezio might have only chosen his revelations outfit (maybe also that weird one from nexus). Otherwise he wore his father’s outfit and the one given by Machiavelli. If anything the robes were designed to fit the renaissance aesthetic rather than his mode of operation. He’s not at all out of place with his peers because brotherhood showed that when recruits grew the rank they get issued the same outfit as his.
@@michaelm1221 sorry if I was being aggressive, I didn't mean to. You're right concerning the robes but at the end of the day it's the devs'perception and inspiration that define their game.

it looked good that being said (this might sound negative) but i noticed they were extremely careful with what they showed 0 combat was shown i understand the devs are preaching stealth and back to the roots but the first game had good combat included with good stealth idk i kinda see the hype but i also know how this company is with cutting corners i hope its a solid game but still managing expectations
Combat was actually shown in some of the other trailers, albeit very brief.
Walshie remember mirage is still in "development" they're still working on it.
It's something to keep in mind, sure, but this is promo - it was designed to be judged! With 4 months (max) left of dev, I think this is near enough the final picture.

well
Alamut existing in AC is strange, seeing as Masyaf and the Assassins are analogues for Alamut and the Hashashin, but whatever.
I don’t think the game cinematics will be very good from what we’ve seen so far….I wish they would have use motion capture as the others even though the game is shorter than others

Soooooo they couldn’t make it him use something to zip line. And also the freee running nooooooo
the parkour is disgusting
What did a famous Mon Calamari Admiral once say?
"IT'S A TRAP!"
I really hope the people who worked on this were actually passionate about it and about the classics, but I doubt it.
And even if they were, Ubisoft's higher ups are just after as much money as they can squeeze out of it and will force them to build the game around that.
The running animation is so weak!!
Anybody else seriously underwhelmed with the character models and animations? They literally look like a game from 10 years ago.
Spoken like someone that has never seen character models and animations from 10 years ago.

Assassins creed Mirage.
This is sensational, AC in Persia is perfect, I was asking for an AC set in Persia during the reign of Emp. Khosrow I or Emp. Cyrus the Great, but this will be superb nonetheless.
And I am elated that Assasins Creed One is getting a graphical remake.
They should just work on the graphics and add more medieval arming sword options, I would love to use a beautiful Crusader arming sword as Altair.
I don't care one bit about the story outside of history/the animus, I just want the historical content.
I don't want open world, I don't want any propaganda of the WOKE cult, I don't want any damage points that fly around when you damage people as in AC Greece and AC Viking hype train, I don't want guns and I loathe MYTHOLOGICAL / MAGICAL shit. Keep it 100% Historical.
(I loathe the teleportation assassinations but I am sure that BS will be optional.)
I loved that AC1 gave tiny hints about God Three in One's existence/presence but that was never the focus.
(Subtle hints of Muslim demons /Jinn is mysterious ,accurate yet palpable as long as they don’t go overboard with it. )
In Unity you use a corner to remain out of sight, assassinating an enemy around a corner you kill the target and you neatly place the body against the wall you were hiding against also out of sight.
Although unlikely in the woke feminazi cultist era we find ourselves….
It will be epic if Roshan turns out to be a corrupt villain in the end.

Perhaps we can even get the Byzantine Paramerion sword and perhaps we can ally with the Byzantines , ah the potential for gaming perfection is vast!
