See! I knew I wasn't trippin'. Lately, I've been feeling this weird energy of competition. I know you've been dealing w/ artists tryna compete wit'chu for years, Spice and it's so exhausting. A lot of premier artists have issues w/ sharing the limelight because they wanna be #1. R. Kelly couldn't stand it when Joe Thomas came out because they were two talent, young brothas, but Joe Thomas could obviously sing better. R. Kelly felt a way and paid the DJs to not play his records. It's like, "Perhaps we'll be friends later on in life when our careers done slowed down, but for nah, I _cain't_ risk standing next to you because folks gon be able to see who really got it like that." If Tommy Mottola done spent $5 million dollars to get the ball rolling for Mariah Carey, it would be in her best interest to stay away from Whitney Houston. It's too much competition. When Big L came out, n¡ggas didn't wanna compete w/ that. He was too much. When n¡ggas heard him spit, they was like, "Oh no, hell no! Absolutely not. And he's effortless wit it too. ABSOLUTELY NOT!" Ne-Yo was a huge problem because he could write, play and sing and his contemporaries didn't wanna stand next to him. I can go on and on for days about this, but do not let it get you down, Spice. I know it's exhausting, but you gotta pull through it. You gon make it. I know you can handle the pressure.
