This is exactly what I was looking for, I dropped my pole in the water and the reel got all crunchy, no one else had a tutorial as useful as this, thanks man
@@inandonthenet Yesterday I was going through my reels, and I went to spin my Shakespeare GX2 reel and it is stiff as hell. I gotta pick up some grease and lubricant and I'm gonna try this out!

Your welcome, I'm genuinely glad it helped you out!
Thank you! If you use denatured alcohol to clean the housing it will evaporate and make dry all the grit in the housing and it will fall out
Excellent video. Straight forward and no fluff. Nice job.
Also I’ve found when greasing your bearings if you tap the reel on the table the force and gravity will pull the grease into the bearing
Excellent tutorial - thanks. Saved me some money, no question.
Glad we could help
Excellent video. Thanks for taking the time to make it. It is frustrating when it starts sticky on you and costing you fish.
@@johnnydee_fishing glad we could help

Is there any other oil you can use like bike chain oil etc
I wouldn't recommend anything but reel oil, it's odorless and biodegradable so it won't harm the fish and it won't let the fish smell anything.
Sewing machine oil is brilliant
Thanks it worked
@@misterknine9 right on!
great video, thank you
@@tod5098 glad to help
Awesome! Thanks!
No problem, glad it helped!
can u use wd-40?
I don't
no WD 40 is actually a degreaser not a lubricant
Mine is brand new and sticks when the spool reaches the bottom.
@@schuylergutting8169 sometimes even new reels need Grease and oil
should of watched this before I tore mine up😏
What’s the reason it gets stuck
Sand, grit, grime, dirt, old grease ect
Hilarious, my GX2 spinning reel actually seized up on me

That cheap ass Walmart reel isn't worth what it cost you in grease to "fix" it. LOL!
Saving money is always worth saving money 💰
Man it’s Shakespeare, just throw it in the bin
Pretty much lol
