I appreciate the tips in the tutorial, especially as they can apply to making many bags easier to sew. This backpack is a nice small version for an adult. Have you tried it on a child? I’m wondering how the size compares to a pack designed for older elementary age kids.
Oh no, this wouldn't serve as a good school backpack even for littles. It's really a "backpack purse." I've been making them for myself for years to take on Disney World trips. I can vouch for it being able to hold at least 2 bottles of Dasani.

Juki DU-1181N - I also use a Janome HD9 from time to time.
