The values function did not work in the variable because variables are evaluated once and can be used muliple times. So for the filter context July, the variable is for values function sees only July. So in the averagex, only one month table is seen for each month hence the date in period cannot go back three months. The outcome is now what you get.

Nice presentation. Why use lastdate instead of Max date. Lastdate returns a table while max date will return a scalar value.

I beg to differ. @10:10 , Video says values does not work inside of variable?
Correct explanation is While we expect Values to see 3 months total sales in filter context, having a var outside makes Values to see only that months filter context coming from the matrix.

WARNING! To get the example file, you must enter your email address. But then you don't get the example file, but tons of advertising emails instead? This is a nasty scam. And the video itself is no help at all: It doesn't explain WHY the original measure doesn't work. It doesn't explain WHY you should use the VALUES function instead. And looking at the cumbersome formatting of the formulas, it seems like the presenter doesn't really understand what he is talking about. Anyway, I won't continue with Pragmatics Works - even though everyone else here seems to like the "clear and concise explanations"?
