안규철의 질문들-지평선이 없는 풍경

이수그룹의 문화예술 공간 ‘스페이스 이수’는 2024년 8월 23일부터 2025년 1월 3일까지 안규철의 개인전 «안규철의 질문들―지평선이 없는 풍경»을 개최합니다. «안규철의 질문들―지평선이 없는 풍경»은 미술가 안규철이 지난 40년간 미술에서 품어온 질문들을 담은 신작을 소개하는 전시입니다. “작가는 무엇을 하는 사람이냐?”는 질문을 받을 때마다 “작가는 질문하는 사람”이라고 대답해 온 안규철 작가는 “세상에 대해, 삶에 대해, 미술의 관습과 한계에 대해 질문함으로써 지금의 세상과 삶 그리고 미술의 또 다른 가능성을 모색하는 것이 바로 예술가의 일”이라고 말합니다. 이번 전시는 사회와 미술에서 지속되어 온 고정된 사고나 관습에 대해 질문하는 설치, 조각, 회화, 텍스트 등의 신작으로 구성되어 관람자가 ‘지평선이 없는 풍경’ 속으로 들어가서 예술가가 던지는 질문들에 대해 저마다의 응답을 생각해 보도록 제안합니다.

Space Isu, a cultural and art venue operated by the Isu Group, is proud to present Ahn Kyuchul’s solo exhibition "Landscape without Horizon." Scheduled from August 23, 2024, through January 3, 2025, the exhibition showcases new artworks that embody the inquiries Ahn has engaged with for over forty years. Whenever asked, “What do artists do?”, Ahn Kyuchul has consistently responded with a simple yet profound answer: “They question.” He believes an artist’s role is to challenge the conventions and limits in the contemporary world, lives, and art in search of new possibilities. The exhibition features new installations, sculptures, paintings, and text pieces that challenge fixed mindsets and prevailing conventions in society and the art world. Viewers are invited to explore this “landscape without horizon” and engage with the questions each work raises.
