iPad: 12 inch iPad Pro
App: Procreate
Pen I mainly use: monoline and studio pen
Vector Illustrations/digital portraits have been really popular lately on Instagram, Pinterest and Etsy, so I tried it out on my iPad! I use Procreate to make my digital portraits, and it's really easy and is kind of like making your own coloring book for adults! I hope you like how the portrait came out :)

Have a wonderful day! :)
For the people asking which brushes she uses... she uses the Monoline brush and Studio pen. :)
dude thank you sooo much!
You’re doing the Lords work 😂 thank you for this
Where do you find that brush?
Where can I find them
@@miquelechavez8334 mono line is under calligraphy and Studio is under inking
Thank-you SO much for so openly sharing how you do this. It really opens up a way for beginners to try new hobbies, especially when so many people are so “secretive” with their skills. It’s nice to see people showing other people how to have fun and try new things 🙂
I find it a lot easier to do each thing in a different layer because I mess up a lot lol that way I can erase things and not ruin other parts. Skin in one layer, clothes in another and hair in another. Yours turned out great
Definitely! I completely spaced doing that on this one and regretted it so much later 😅
Hi, Question for you daisy :)
Can you use this app on a regular iPad or does it have to be the pro?
@@StrictlyKendra it would be some good information to go add at the beginning of your video right now, it would be nice to have a little caption pop up that mentions the individual layering tip. It is a game changer. I struggled without it.
@@catchavez8558 not just the pro, you jusr gotta check the store and purchase it.
@@mfc3553 I have an IPad, not the pro and procreate works just fine on it though
TYSM FOR THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE BEGGING IVE BEEN WAITING A HOUR WATCHING UA-cam VIDEOS AND URS WAS THE RIGHT ONE🥺
Thank you so much for watching!!
You managed to put so many helpful tips in this one video. Thank you!
I'm so glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Wow, loved it. I need more beginner steps. I'm just learning procreate right now. Awesome work. Thank you
Thanks for watching! I'll work on a beginner tips video!
I have watched SO many tutorials for this. I was struggling before, but your video totally clicked! I've already done 2 drawings with great results. These would have taken so long before and wouldn't have looked as good. THANK YOU!
Yay I'm so glad this helped!!
This would make a simple gift 😁 and its minimalistic as well nice!
Definitely! One of my best friends actually gave me one for Christmas and I love it so much!
This is a great tutorial I just got an iPad and have paid people to do it for me. Now I feel confident enough to give it a go my self. Thank you so much for taking the time to show us
OMGGGGG PERFECT THNKKK YOU THANKKK YOUUUU!!!!!!!!!!! I want to do a book cover and every time I browse actual books or book templates on design sites, I see women's and romance covers with this animation style and I need this for my books but I had no idea what people used!!! I looked up "how to design faceless figures for book covers" lol Thank youuuuuuu!!!
Thank You! By far the easiest tutorial for beginners :)
Thank you so much my mom is happy to see this because I did it to my family 🙏🏻
Awww that's awesome I'm so glad this was helpful!
this was the best video on Digital portrait Illustration that I've seen. It was very helpful. Thank you for this ♡
also , what brush do you use?
if you struggle with facial hair, then maybe the ‘stubble’ brush in ‘touchups’ could help you out? :)x
Ahhh great idea!!
This makes it look so easy i need to start doing this
I was literally thinking the same thing
Yes super easy! It’s like making your own coloring book haha
Thank you this was very helpful! I just did my first picture and everyone was impressed :)
Thank you for watching! Yay I'm glad it went well!!
THAT IS SOOO COOOL
Thank you!!

Thank you!
Thanks so much for this video! I recently got an iPad & Procreate and have been wanting to do these faceless portraits, you rock!
Thank you for watching! ahhhh nice that's so exciting!
i just loved it, your tutorial is very minimal and simplistic and I love minimalism . 😄
Came out great!

I'm glad! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for making this..so helpful
Thank you for watching!
Thank you so much this helped a lot
Thanks for watching!
This was so helpful, thank you!
I'm glad! Thanks for watching :)
I noticed that this was done in July. Not certain if you've discovered a way to get better detail with hair BUT the studio pen with a fine brush size and smudge tool is great to get realistic strands and full heads of hair. Thing is though...it's very time consuming and you definitely want to work in layers. But other than that....I like your work.
Thanks for the tip, I'll have to try that out!
Awesome video. Thank you. I’ve been trying to do this for a while and your video helped the most. 🙏
Thank you! I'm glad it helped!
"i havent shaved in 6 months" well that was me during quarintine with my legs im not gonna lie LOL
LOL same here 😂
What a great tutorial for procreate! Thanks so much for sharing! I love this!
Thank you for watching!
Omg this was such an easy tutorial. My ipad comes on tuesdat and these are ine of my main projects i wanna do.
This was great to watch you do this. I wasn't sure how other people did these types of illustrations. I have done these as well. But it was great to see your process and what details you chose and even your method of shadows and colors etc. Loved it. Had some helpful spots for me to think about. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for watching!
I'm so excited I found this! I'm working on my room and want a collage of these prints, but it would be way to expensive to pay for someone to make all of it.
Loved this video! You have great advice and instruction. Thanks so much!!
Thank you for watching!
I like it a lot. I saw the no eyes on other vids as well and it's freaking me out. 😂
My name is kendra as well! I love your art!
Awesome thank you
I was hoping for a more thorough tutorial actually. I'm entirely new to procreate and I figured the basics out that are mentioned in this video, but when do I add layers? What brushes are you using (if more than monoline)? And how do I make it so that I can erase the way you did when drawing stripes on your shirt and not have it affect other layers? I know to use a different layer but to have it just draw under other layers is what I can't figure out. Thanks for the tutorial but answers would be appreciated :)
Hey thanks for this! i'm currently thinking of opening a small business with illustrations.
Nice! Good luck!!
Very helpful, thanks!!
I'm glad it helped! Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for the video. It was fun. I painted a picture of me and my husband it was good.
Thank you so much for watching, I'm glad it turned out!
Wow, that is amazing!
Thank you!
It turned out beautiful! Thanks for the tutorial Kendra. ☺️
Thank you so much for watching!
Which brush you normally use to sketch?
Does anyone know the answer?
She uses monoline brush and the studio pen
Wdyc
Omg thank you for this video!
Thanks for watching!
Woww this is really nicee
Thank you!
The striped pen is Tylacine, under Inking in the Brush Library.
Súper útil este vídeo. Muchas gracias ☺️ por compartir.
Thanks for watching!
Love this tutorial, what is your brush for the outline?
Thanks for watching! I mostly use monoline or studio pen for outlining!
I want to set my own business of this. Never done this before. Looks really cool. Any beginner tips starter pack?
I just did it and it turns out awesome, thanks for sharing I wish I can share the photo
Nice!! Thanks for watching!
@@StrictlyKendra hi, thanks for detailed tutorial.
I have few questions...
Im an android person but want to use iPad for digital art and need more detail on the version of iPad ur using, its size and apple pencil version or Model how ever u say?
If u can add link to exact link of equipments that would be great. Thanks 👍
Okay, but this is so pretty! How long did it take you in real-time?
Thank you! I'd say about an hour to an hour and a half!
Hom long do these usually take? I'm thinking of doing digital illustrations too, because they look so much fun, but I'm scared they're gonna take a long time and I'm gonna get bored after a while...I do quotes and lettering myself right now, and they usually take me about an hour to two hours😅😊
Usually an hourish depending on how many details I add!
What kind of tablet is this?
Lovely video! Please can you tell which brush do you use?
Thank you! I use the studio pen and monoline mostly!
How do you fill only the face mine is doing the whole photo 😳
You have to make sure the lines (of the area you're outlining) are completley connected/closed, if you leave even a small gap it would color the whole photo
@@taylorsleftoe I ended up figuring it out haha thank you though!
Which brush do you recommend using when doing digital illustrations?
I like to use the studio pen or monoline!
I'm new to this, but I'm having pixelation problems! Can you explain 1. how your photo is so crisp even when zooming in and 2. How your lines are so sharp?
It helps a lot to make your pen size really small for the detail work! And using a good quality photo really helps too.
great
Hey..you have did a stupendous job... i have a que? cant this app be downloaded upon android?
Thank you! Unfortunately I think it's only for Apple :(
Thanks this is very helpful! Can you please please tell me which brush your using to make it look so smooth!? I’m new to this thanks!
thanks for watching! I use the monoline or studio pen for these!
The question I was looking for!
This was very informative 😊
What is your iPad's size? Actually I am wanting to buy an iPad but I can't decide which size I want.
Can you give me your suggestion, it would be really helpful
Thanks! This is the 12 inch iPad pro!
hello i sumply loved your work but i couldnt found the app so if you can please send a link or somthing for it and if the is a tutorial for just starting tge app or any tips it'll be nice of you to help
What size canvas do you use? Thank you for this tutorial!!
Sorry if I missed it but why no eyes? Is this just your style x
I've seen some girl bashing this "style" of drawing on tiktok, they said is only tracing an image and it was a shame to charge people for that kind of art.i guess this is for beginners,to start drawing properly it's necessary to start practicing anatomy drawing😺
This is very useful video! How long have you been using procreate?
It won’t let me drop the colour in when I outline it. It just says continue filling with recolour?
Make sure there are no gaps in the outline! It helps to zoom in really close to double check. Also make sure you're on the same layer!
I am so doing this
Let me know how it goes!
I tried to do one I freaking sick at it any advice on how to actually get good besides practices I have no time I’m opening a sticker shop
What tablet are you using? Do you need internet to use the program?
iPad pro 12 inch! No, once you've downloaded it you don't need internet to use it!
what brush do you use?
Yours Truly Janey I think it’s the mono line brush
I use the studio pen and monoline!
How do you make that a sticker ? How would you add the white around.
I would recommend adding a layer underneath the picture so when you outline it, the white goes behind the illustration if that makes sense!
What’s the setting you have to the picture isn’t blurry when you zoom in?
I'm not actually sure! I've seen people do it on tik tok but I haven't gotten around to doing it. I think it might have something to do with the canvas DPI?
@@StrictlyKendra thanks! I “sorta” fixed it by changing the dpi so it’s not as blurry but it’s not perfectly clear either 😭
I tried to do the dropping tool and it filled the whole picture?? Help. Lol first time with procreate
Try zooming in really close to the outline to make sure it's completely closed!
Also make sure it’s on the same layer
Adjust your threshold by moving left or right!
How would you set this up for printing? I’m trying to make this for my husband on our 10 yr anniversary.. is it just like ordering prints from images?
When I try to fill something on procreate it just tints the photo?
Hmmm you could try creating a new layer and then fill in the section?
Hello ! What is your iPad ? Thanks
12 inch iPad pro!
Can I do this on procreate pocket? I haven’t got an iPad
I'm not sure, I've never actually used procreate pocket!
Any tips for if people you're drawing have tattoos?
My iPad while using procreate my hand hits the screen and will undo what i did in the stroke. How do i turn that off or what can i do? I just started using it
You can go into the control settings for procreate to customize the tap settings (i.e. one tap for erase, or double tap). I hope that helps!
My iPad makes me tone the whole painting when I try to drop my couloir in a specific place. Is that because I haven’t filled the line fully?
I think so... I'm new to it as well, but it works better if you have layer or alpha lock it and drop colors in
Yea you have to make sure where you’re dropping the color is fully closed in
@@Fuyukori ty
@@latoyabroodie1916 ty
It might help if you make a new layer, too!
Amazing work! I was just wondering if you have a screen cover/ protector which changes the screen texture if that makes sense? Like the ones that make it feel like paper? Thank you!
Sorry this is so late! I don't have a screen protector just a case that folds over the screen when I'm not using it!
hi:)that‘s so good. what brush you used?
I used "studio pen" for everything except the detail for my romper! That one was the "thylacine" under the inking tab in procreate!
I love you video, but anytime I try to use the drop feature thing on a face the color just lightly goes on the whole picture. Do you have any tips to fix this?
When you “drop” the colour, don’t let go straight away. You’ll see it pop up along the top saying “colour drop threshold” you can then slide left and right (similar to when you’re changing opacity) and it should reduce how harsh it drops the colour. Hope that made sense.
@@ambisings yours made sense but I don’t think mine did. That doesn’t show up it like tints that entire picture
@@ambisings actually I’m sorry I figured it out
Can u tell me what's the name of this drawing??
If we draw in sheets so what's the name of this drawing????
How would you save this? I made a great first portrait and I tried saving it to my photos and it’s gone 🤪😂 I just got my iPad 2 days ago and I’m such a noob lol
Oh no I'm sorry! I hope you were able to get it back! I usually just export it to my photos or airdrop it to my computer.
What stylus are you using to draw with? This is so great!
I use the Apple Pen! Thank you!
Is this all on one layer
The drop option color does not work for me
Which app can we use to make this
How do you get the color to drop in one spot & not the whole page????
Make sure there are no gaps in the outline! It helps to zoom in really close to double check. Also make sure you're on the same layer!
hello can you tell me how to fill colors? Thanks very much!
Once you have a solid shape, drag the color circle in the upper right hand corner into the shape!
Can I use my iPad mini for this or does it have to be the iPad Pro?
It can be any iPad :)
how to select colour from the picture
Hi girl, Did you printed it?
I didn't for this one!
Um what brush did you use
It didn’t work for me it just doesn’t put the full colour on when I slide it down it just highlights it
That happens to me sometimes, too! I just end up doing another layer, I'm not sure why it does that!
I tried doing what you did with the background but it turns my whole portrait that color. So what I have to do is literally outline the whole picture
