Thank you for sharing your knowledge. It looks like your spacers are in copper, while your boiler is in aluminum or stainless, this with any natural salts in your water produce a electrolytic corrosion, probably why the bottom of your boiler turn dark Grey, it is corroding. You would better of using same material spacers than the boiler material, that will prolong your boiler life. Regards.
you probably dont give a shit but does any of you know of a method to log back into an Instagram account? I was stupid lost the login password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me!
@Sincere Roger thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Awesome. I was surprised to see you not worry about moisture content of grains. Seems like all the teks ive tried people rely on heat to steam off excess moisture from grains. Thank you so much for posting this!
im looking through all your comments and i appreciate your mad busy but it might be nice to every once in a while respond to a viewer with a good/legit question, these videos are informative videos right? thank you for all your knowledge, videos, and thank you for your service.
that homemade bucket bagger is clever! Also your pre sealed colonized spawn bag you use for transfers was a cool trick. I always wondered how to g2g from bag to bag without making a huge mess. Thanks for all the tips Eric!
I had trich in all my spawn bags, but not my quart mason jars. I may not had folded the bags properly. Though, wouldn't it be more prudent to just heat seal the bag before put placing into the pressure cooker? I see you are inoculating your bags w/ spawn... I uses syringes... thx for sharing... you really have your ratios to water and spawn substrate down to a science. Congrats.
Seeing your bags come out like Bundt cakes gives me a sight of relief. As I thought I was cramming to much in and that’s why mine look like that too. I may have just realized at this point in time that bubba barrels are not for sterilizing grain? But I’m presuming when people say sterilization they’re talking about partial sterilization(I believe that’s the term) of bulk substrates. Could you elaborate on this if you happen to see this. - CentralFloridaMan
Hi Thank you so much. You provide important tips too. Can refer me to a book, blog or a manual? If not can you do a video on humidy and temperatures?? For creating spawn. Growing mushrooms,. If there is a best time of the year?
Here are two great books to get you started: "Radical Mycology" by Peter McCoy and "Organic Mushroom Farming and Mycoremediation" by Todd Cotter. Stamets' books are good, but they are so old that many advances have been made in mushroom cultivation since.
Is it possible to pressure cook with sealed bags? I don't have a flow hood yet and am trying to prevent contamination by sealing before cooking and then inoculating with liquid spawn through injection port in bag. Thanks.
I did my first mushroom growing attempt by inoculating hericium erinaceus lc to corn in a mason jar worked perfectly lol. Then i xfered to a hardwood pellet/wheat mix in the bags and successfully grow Lions mane my first try. Second try was unsuccessful. I learned in my microbiology class that sterilization is accomplished at 121 c* 15 psi 15 mins, but how long does it take for the mixture in the spawn bags to fully reach 121 c*?
very knowledgeable information Myers! I thank you for your time. what do you line the buckets with? didn't catch that. and how big are the holes you drilled into them? thanks
Soo hope you have more archival footage. I can't wait months before the next episode! Mushfarmer vanished and now you got deployed. TR vanished too. Even Jewel bailed. Jablowski (spelling?) hasn't made one in years! UA-cam will suck! Poor Mossy Creek will be getting like a millions views a month! lol Hurry home!
I do have a few on my vimeo I never posted here. TR was just in the gutter for a few months but he is recovering now and should be making content soon. But yea Jewell bailed on the industry over a year ago now. I will be shooting some content in one of the countries im deployed in :D one of my patrons actually
2 questions if you dont mind! Do you use the 41.5 qt All American on that Cadco unit? and how much space needs to be behind those flow hoods for proper laminar airflow?
Hey Myers! I am very curious on this... I have a small scale mushroom farm. The way I learned was that you needed to let the outside of the grains dry a bit before bagging. You dont worry at all about bagging the grains while the outsides are wet? In my head after PC there would be excess moisture in the bag.. Obviously watching this video that's not the case though, so I guess it doesnt even matter!? Lol
@@MyersMushroomsFarms I'll be giving this method a go tomorrow! Been watching your videos for 2 years and learned about everything from you, I cant believe I by passed this.
when I did your method without any spacers the outsides that touched the PC walls (all american 41.5 qt) were all mush and badly burst, too bad I loaded it up like you did. will this grain be OK? My first run where i used spacers this didnt happen at all.
I see you did not us any Gypson or Coffee Grounds, So I try it with out it and it and didn't work with crap and had to do again with Gypson & Coffee Grounds and it work Perfect after that.
Also he mixed the 2 together if I’m not mistaken, and then they soaked....so they both went for a full 24 hours! So why did you mention the milo only needing 12 hours??? Love the tek though man. I absolutely appreciate your time and effort😎
Do you do the soak as a measure to trigger endospore growth so you can more readily kill them during sterilization or to improve moisture content of grain?
Look up mush_trips on Instagram,he’s products works magically and professionaly treated.A friend recommended him to me.They've got spores, shrooms and growing kits.
@josiah hartsell point is it was posted a long time ago, unless because of the youtube issues he had before and reposted it because it was lost. You may not have been watching him long enough to realize it though
Great video. If you put your scale under the funnel you can fill them to the exact weight easier.

I definitely find that really weird... outside moisture on the grains usually cause problems!
@@Purity262 well the whole point of sterilising is to kill everything off that could cause problems so there shouldnt be problems if you do it right

hey dude, if you switch your hose nozzle from shower to jet, you'll get a lot more volume. thank you for the awesome content!!
Glad you mentioned not needing to soak at the end. Skipping that step speeds up the whole process.
im trying to get a dry bag method down but cant find any good answers on water to sub ration. I use this same sub (2:1 oat/milo)

Love the pour spout spawn bags! Thanks for sharing Eric!
I just bought a 50 lb bag of whole oats for my first go at making grain spawn... i'll look into getting some sorghum to mix in :) Cheers
Great system. I was worried about melting my bags with direct contact to the walls without towels looks like you have no issues.
Me too. I believe it is the type of plastic that they use if i am not mistaken.
use tinfoil either around the pc or in amongst your bags

Do you ever use different grain mixtures for different mushrooms? or is this the best method for all of mushroom?

Can I seal bags before put them to cooker pressure if want to use needle for inoculation?
Hey that impulse sealer is amazing! I love auto locking mechanism. What brand is that?
It's an AIE magnetic hold impulse sealer with 5 mm seal I bought one there $250.00 well worth the money

Don't ever put spores straight to grain. That's highly likely to contaminate. It's best to use agar or culture.
That PID is brilliant. What kind of hardware is holding that thermocouple in?

How hard is it to get clients, cooks and stuff to buy them?

Can I use hulled rye ? Or is it going to get too mushy?
Very informative! Looking forward to making yummy fungi!
The scale wasn't on a flat surface. It might slightly different scaling results.
The bags do not close ?. Or do the bags have their own sealing system?
he sealed it after inoculating.
Lysol promotes mutation in mycelium and mushrooms
Thanks for your sharing. May i ask how long you keep at 121 Celcius degree?
What brand of sealer is that. It looks like it would a lot more consistent than the one I have

What is the mesh that you use for the bucket straining

They look like Brew Bags, they're basically grain soaking bags (you can boil them too)
5 gallon elastic top paint strainers. Buy at homedepot for $3
Can you seal the bags before sterilizing?
Not allowing grains to dry after soak is okay? So I can load them up wet?
Do the bags seal themselves in the pressure cooker? Or do you need to seal them after they come out?

What was the name of the bag you used in your old grow pots for soaking?
A paint strainer bag.
I would have guessed that you use oats b/c they are cheaper than Milo.
great vid. what is the shelf life of a bag of grain spawn?
1 week in incubation up to 2 or 3 months in the fridge
They make Rolled Oats that might make good Spawn. Cheers
No, you want whole, unbroken grains.
2 questions if you dont mind! Do you use the 41.5 qt All American on that Cadco unit? and how much space needs to be behind those flow hoods for proper laminar airflow?
can we use cotton in the bottle as cap to make grain masters🤔🤔??
Is it okay to use coco/vermiculite for spawn bags? Or just for substrate?
No you need to spawn grain to substrate to get the sub to colonise fast to avoid contams then induce fruiting
Hi man great video! I have a question, does that filters push out air or in?
Out
Both. The mycelium needs to breath oxygen and exhale CO2, just like us. The filter lets both through without letting contamination in.

Whether you use gypsum and calcium carbonate?
for dry bagging, what is the oat/milo to water ratio and steri time?
Whats the BEST was to Close the bags witout seller ?
what ratio of water to grain do you use now since not pre-soaking
I do soak, I cook even check my newer video from a few months back with my grain soaker and bagger
What kind of bag do you use?
What should I do of there is moisture in the bag after pressure cooking.
Let her buck. It's all sterilized
So you don't dry the grains? Doesn't that cause too much moisture inside the bag after sterilizing?
I think since he didn't boil them after soaking, the grains would absorb the extra moisture when the bags are run through the pressure cooker

And for how long to pressure cook?
How many generations of grain-to-grain transfers do you usually do? And would a 24 hour soak work for rye as well?
