I haven’t listened to green day in forever, this is definitely my sign to break out some of their stuff again. And of course on point as always, awesome video man!
Nice one! These are all definitely all great ones. There aren't many Green Day songs that aren't great to be fair though. Armatage Shanks, Stuck With Me, Going To Pasalaqcua, Paper Lanterns, Blood S*x Booze, Android, the list goes on and on..
Great video! Green Day was the whole reason I got into guitar playing. I was 12 when American Idiot came out, and got my first guitar. Now I’m 30 and anytime I fancy playing along to something it’s either Welcome to Paradise, Jesus of Suburbia or Blood S*x and Booze
I know people consider these the classics and those particular albums (Dookie through American Idiot) some kind of 'golden age' (and let's not forget that American Idiot was a career saving album), but I honestly think every Green Day album is great. Even the Trilogy (Carpe Diem in particular is in my top 10 GD songs) and Father of All (not gonna apologise for loving that album. Not to you, not to anyone). 21CB is my favourite. These are some great riffs though and really show how good Green Day are. Even if their riffs are relatively simple, they have impact. Brain Stew is the perfect example. The stop-start nature means it just hits you in the face. Add the rest of the song to that and you have the very definition of a banger.
The newer stuff is all just as fine. Revolution Radio, Still Breathing and Fire Ready Aim really grew on me to name a few. American Idiot was special because it marked a big departure and it followed a story, but you're right, it shouldn't immediately discredit the other albums. Being elitist over punk rock of all things is ridiculous.
I know this vid is older but you could you PLEASE share with me the tone you used on the Katana for the Dookie songs? I’ve been chasing it for so long…
Perfect as always. But more than any of your other videos, all these riffs feel like they're really missing the drums. Interesting how different Green Day sounds without Mr. Cool
To be honest I can't really remember. I think I used the 'brown' setting with variation for the distorted parts and clean for the Good Riddance one. It was a setting I don't normally use so I'm having trouble recalling. Should have made a note of it.
The strings on my bass guitar? To be honest, I've never even changed them since I bought it so I don't know. There is a built in eq in it so maybe that has something to do with it. Also there are some bass presets on GarageBand that I use.
I don't use a mic. With this amp you can plug a USB cable into the back of it and straight into your computer or laptop. This is what I do. There are other amps and amp simulator pedals that do the same thing also.
I didn't make an exact note for it. Think I was using the crunch setting on the Katana in Variation mode so there was more high end. Also had some boost for added gain.
Almost every song is suitable for being an instrumental song. The game's menu is great. Current games I can't find a place to add fun songs besides gta. 😢
Fun fact: If you play Welcome to Paradise in standard E tuning, in the reverse chord progression, you can easily play Blitzkrieg Bop by the Ramones
I need a video of this now
Though doesn’t Blitzkrieg Bop use Barre Chords
Can’t copy right a chord progression. It’s also I fought the law and a thousand other songs from the 1950’s to the modern day
Brain Stew tone was on point
All of them are
@EndofMusic brain stew specially
The crunch is perfect right?!!!
the tone is simply perfect
Boss Katana is nailing those sounds.
very good amp to play by yourself
Green Day has some great riffs… but Mike Dirnt was the true force behind Green Day tbh
I don't think Mike alone is the force of it yknow, but he's sure a great player
Respectfull disagree, great bass player and backup vocalist but the guitar riffs make their songs what they are
@@ryandieter reference when i come around, sounds empty without the bass line
@@donfransisco9404 no that palm mute riff makes it if you ask me
Having A Blast!!! That's a deep cut right there
I had never heard Having A Blast, Geek Stink Breath or Hitchin A Ride, now I love both songs :)
I haven’t listened to green day in forever, this is definitely my sign to break out some of their stuff again. And of course on point as always, awesome video man!
Thanks man.
@@bloxsy_please add Boulevard of Broken Dreams to the list please 🙏❤️🎸❤️

Just saw Green Day live 2 weeks ago and they were phenomenal. Great Video!

Hadn't seen you bust out the Cyclone in a long time dude, awesome vid, keep on rockin!!
Thanks man. It was due a comeback.
Wow dude, the Dookie tone was frickin amazing, perfect
Almost ended up getting a Boss Katana 50 Mk2 myself, I was a hair away from choosing it. It's a damn good amp, it really can do anything.
I did a firmware update recently (didn't realise there was one out last year) it sounds a bit better now. It has some more tonal options.
i'd love to see "10 Best Green Day Basslines"
and no one can tell me No One Knows isn't gonna be in the list.
Great sound, especially on the Insomniac tracks 👍
Do you can do Green Day part two? Their riffs sound is good in this tone. Sorry for my English, i can make so much mistakes🥴
Im so happy youve done some green day, sweet.
Damn that's a gnarly Tone, love it.
another sick video! i lowkey miss joyo pedal tone but i’m digging this too
Thanks man.
Damn that's a nice tone
Some more stuff from the early albums would be cool
Great video, man! I would have loved to have seen something from Warning or even 21st Century Breakdown perhaps, but still, awesome!
Thanks mate.
Warning is full of great riffs. Minority, Castaway, Blood Sex & Booze, Waiting are all among their best
@@lglp06 completely agree. The title track, too (even if it's, uh... "reminiscent" of the Kinks' "Picture Book" 😉).
This is awesome 👍
Having A Blast mentioned is a W
Bloxsy showing me licks is the best way to start the day! Thanks much!
Thank you.

I know I’ve done many vid requests in the past, but I really think at least one more bass vid would be nice
Hey bloxsy amazing man as always!
Thanks mate. I appreciate that!
Holiday my favorite ❤ 2:11
Power chord parade 😅
cool stuff man!
Thanks man!
the tone 😫😫
Waited for this
Great as always!! tho it would've been amazing if you played the bass parts as well like you did for Sonic Youth 🤯🤯
Oh yeah that was fun.
Good insomniac tone dude 👌
Yes
When i come around is upwards at the end 👀
That holiday sounded good
Breh. PLEASE do a tone settings video. Too good!
Placebo riffs please
Awesome!
I know this vid is older but you could you PLEASE share with me the tone you used on the Katana for the Dookie songs? I’ve been chasing it for so long…
Sorry but I can't remember to be exact. I think I used the 'Brown' distortion.
Nice, would've presumed that Insomniac and Nimrod would be up your alley (esp. something like Take Back)
Perfect as always. But more than any of your other videos, all these riffs feel like they're really missing the drums. Interesting how different Green Day sounds without Mr. Cool
Yeah it got me thinking about the drums too. It goes to show how much a good drummer can improve the music.
Same with the bass, I could actually hear it in my head for the Dookie songs
Elliott Smith riffs?
Wish you would have included a song from 1039 or Kerplunk on here
What settings on ur amp r u using? I have the same katana model
Awesome
Top! 🤩🤘🏼
are these really rifs if they are all power chords? isnt a riff supposed to be like Dumpweed from Blink 182? single string notes?
How i can get this sounds on my boss katana 50 mk2? Pls respond 😊
I can't remember what settings I used. I think it was the 'brown' setting or 'lead' or something like that.
At the library
Paper lanterns
409 in your coffeemaker
What settings did you use on the boss katana for these tones Bloxsy?
To be honest I can't really remember. I think I used the 'brown' setting with variation for the distorted parts and clean for the Good Riddance one. It was a setting I don't normally use so I'm having trouble recalling. Should have made a note of it.
YESSSSSSS!!!!!!! I love it
Good riddance wasn't upto mark but the others were 🔥🔥🖤🖤
I thought he meant their 90s songs by classic (im a 1990-1997 green day fan)
Какие эффекты вы использовали?
Love holiday! Could u post a tutorial?
I'm thinking of doing some tutorials. I've never done one before so I'm thinking about how I can do one.
@@bloxsy_ you totally should! If ur not comfortable using ur voice u could put subtitles
kinda of topic from this video but your bass tone is asbolutely amazing. how do you get that bright sound? also what strings do you use?
The strings on my bass guitar? To be honest, I've never even changed them since I bought it so I don't know. There is a built in eq in it so maybe that has something to do with it. Also there are some bass presets on GarageBand that I use.
Top 15 The Cure songs plzzz
What do u record sound with?
I use a Boss Katana and GarageBand
@@bloxsy_ is olit possible to record my actual amplifiers sound with this ailudiot interface thing? Or do I have to have a good mic?
I don't use a mic. With this amp you can plug a USB cable into the back of it and straight into your computer or laptop. This is what I do. There are other amps and amp simulator pedals that do the same thing also.
@@bloxsy_ do u know if it's possible to get my amps exact sound with an audio interface to a laptop?
I’m not sure what you mean. If you mic up your amp and run it into an interface then you will be recording your amps sound.
you should do cream riffs i wanna hear you play some clapton
Sure. Any song suggestions?

Red hot chili peppers riffs pls

Maybe I should start a green day cover band... If you know what I mean 😅
If you don't mind, I want to hear the shoegaze you play
Wrong tiitle it's actualy 10 hood classics

I think hitch a ride a sucks because he basically ripped off his own riff (brain stew)
To dirty fuzz for green day, I think
you missed so many good riffs from the pre dookie era
I thought it's nirvana

Too bad their new stuff sucks
Awesome
