  • Another great track day at Donington Park in the R8, although not quite the ending I was hoping for...

    Hi Chris. Believe it or not i really enjoy the ugly things behind the pretty life of petrol heads. Did you really just replaced 1 tyre? Considering the abuse the other one took, shouldn't you replace both?

    • @DedicationBlog
      @DedicationBlog  8 років тому

      Yeah I'll replace the other one as well before the next track day but at least its driveable for now. The tyres still had a decent amount of tread left on them to be fair, like I said I'd only driven it twice with them on

    Because you do so many trackdays, why not get a trailer and tow the car there?

    • @DedicationBlog
      @DedicationBlog  8 років тому +4

      because I don't have anywhere to store a trailer, or anything to tow a trailer with

      Lloyd Howe but I don't have anywhere to put another car or a trailer unfortunately. I'd have to move house lol

    Are quite a lot of the other supercar owners/drivers on the track in disbelief when they see you blast past them/keep up when they have cars that are way faster than a standard R8 V10 (assuming they don't know that yours is supercharged)?

    • @ChrisDrift
      @ChrisDrift 8 років тому +1

      IamJackpot I dunno I've never asked them lol but I doubt it to be honest. On track days the extra power doesn't make that much difference as it's more about how fast you can take corners and how late you can brake etc, and most of these other cars are pretty fast on the straights as well. If it was against other cars that only had 200 or 300 bhp it would be more noticeable but against cars with 400 or 500 bhp it doesn't make a huge difference unless you're both starting to accelerate at the exact same time and have a long straight ahead. Plus most the other cars are dual clutch autos so I lose out a bit in acceleration when I have to change gear

    Poor lines through the curves, could carry much more speed if you use all the track. Great car control though and awesome video. Donington Park National is probably my second favourite track.

      Edwin Scott Yeah I'm sure there's plenty of areas I could improve on, as I do feel like I'm just sat in the middle of the track when I shouldn't be on some parts. But at the end of the day I'm never going to set any lap records, I'm just there to have fun

    Nice video, love the drifting and fun you were having with the R8. That's the problem when you turn up to a track day and something like that happens, always useful to have a mate with his own car or something. Shame no one at the track couldn't give you a lift down, I would've if I was there :)

    Dude you are out-braking everyone on that track! You even killed that LT on the low speed corners. Very nice!

    • @DedicationBlog
      @DedicationBlog  8 років тому

      I think the LT was pretty new to the track, he had a novice sticker on the back. Pretty sure that thing would out brake the R8 by a looong way with a good driver that knows the circuit in it.

    ChrisDrift & DedicationBlog - As Statesidesupercars said would it not be easier to sell one car to then get a tow car (Say a used BMW X5 / Range Rover / ETC) and a car trailer to transport the R8 & GT86 to track/drift days, That way you wouldn't really have to worry about any problems you get during the trackday as you know you can get yourselves and the cars home or to the garage.
    Or get a support car (estate car / little van) - That way you can take a spare tyre/s, tools, drive to tyre places, get yourselves home.

    • @ChrisDrift
      @ChrisDrift 8 років тому

      snakes57 I still wouldn't have room for a trailer as well. Plus, would you really want to sell a gt86 or M4 just so you could occasionally tow the R8 to track days? I wouldn't

    • @ChrisDrift
      @ChrisDrift 8 років тому

      snakes57 as for a support car, I wouldn't have anyone to drive it most the time. At drift days I normally go with Sean and he's driving his own car, and a lot of track days I do on my own

    I was all for your decision to keep the exhaust on the R8 stock, but after hearing that GT, I think you need an Armytrix system or something. Let that V10 screeeeaaaaammmmm

    • @DedicationBlog
      @DedicationBlog  8 років тому +1

      lol nah, it suits a Ford GT but I don't think the R8 should be a loud in your face car like that

    Also should have rang dust cap.co.uk I have used them they would of fixed it for you

    • @DedicationBlog
      @DedicationBlog  8 років тому

      nah no one could repair it, the inside of the tyre was too badly damaged from doing the cool down lap while it was flat (even on a cool down lap, still doing at least 50 mph most the time). The tyre place near me that I took it to the following day said they wouldn't have even attempted to repair it as it was too badly damaged

    • @adamjwhite50

    • @DedicationBlog

      at first I hated the new design but its grown on me a lot. I'm sure they're great cars but I don't know if I could bring myself to spend such a huge amount of money (they're still over 100K second hand) to just get a slightly newer version of the car I already had.

      Some proportions, the strange exhausts, the flared wheel arches. But I just checked the DVLA. Seems it's legit. My bad.

    • @DedicationBlog
      @DedicationBlog  8 років тому

      Yeah I'd have been surprised if it was fake as the owner turned up with a lorry full of cars lol he obviously wasn't short of money. Nice guy though, leant me his jack and sockets so I could get the R8 wheel off
