Hello, I have a valve that I will be replacing myself. I have replaced many sprinkler but this will be my first valve I will be replacing. I have watched many videos and it’s seems pretty simple. My only concern is the wires, are they hot, will they shock me do I need to take any precautions, turn power off etc.? I would really appreciate your help before I replace the above ground valve. I’m a big chicken when it comes to electrical things.
Hi JV, thanks for watching our channel. I'll be uploading a bunch of valve videos shortly, but probably not quick enough to help you. The wires aren't hot unless the zone is running. Just turn your timer to the OFF position and shut shut off your water source before beginning. Good luck!
Just say, solenoid plunger goes up and let's water into bypass channel, decreasing pressure above the diaphragm so it goes up and let's water flow under it. Or something like that...
Solenoids are such a useful addition to an irrigation system.

On a hunter valve how far does the solenoid retract when powered up by controller
That's a good question. It's probably around 1/8"

great succinct explanation!
