When a group of explorers rediscovered the site in 1748, they were surprised to find that-underneath a thick layer of dust and debris-Pompeii was mostly intact. I just realized that pompeii is a city that was destroyed by a volcano so i now understand "the walls kept tumbling down on the city that we love" i forgot the other part but it was about the clouds being dark cause of the smoke of the volcano
