I think this "More Competitive" switch is to combat the lower player counts. They added Ranked when there was a boom in players when there was no content block on Deadlock. After that boom subsided, they had a smaller player base split between two game-modes, which was probably messing up their matchmaking stats.
@@Bullwark_of_the_Week it's hard to really comment on player count when the game is not truly released. As of now there is still an invite only aspect to getting into Deadlock. While that barrier is very low, it's still one that exists none the less. I imagine what you stating is true to a degree. But I still feel that having an incentive of some type to keep the player in the full match is part of why Valve made that comp tick. Personally, I'm more excited to see what other types of segmenting Valve might have in mind for gamers to choose when joining a match.
This game does not need a deathmatch. Not only does it not need it, but having it would (outside of custom, non official modes) be detrimental to the game, since it would completely change the balance. A big aspect of mobas is that the base destruction is the only way to win, meaning kda is not everything.
