Born up North & raised down South..with my Dads fam from out West so spent plenty time there as well..never been further than Philly on the east but I def bought this record back in the day
That's crazy! We slapped that hard out in Oakland. Never thought it was a diss. I'm from East Oakland so we would mob up to da club, on the strip, on da West, wherever wit da 15z knockin' this hard and had fools geekin'! 💯🔥
I remember playing basketball to this song, just listening to it over and over on Hot 97.5 . . . I don't mind being old now because my youth was filled with good times and music like this.
I didn't buy the album but I did have this thing call a CAS-SINGLE do anybody else remember those days when you could buy just your favorite song because there was no downloading back then. RESPECT TO THE REAL HIPHOP..👏👏📻🎙🎚🔊
PPl don’t know He was talking about east New York , which is a section of brooklyn .... Just so happen all that east & west bs was starting up @ da same time
One of the things that hurt these Brothas was that Mercury waited for over a year to release this album, after releasing the single in the summer of 1995. They lost a ton of momentum that they established. The album would’ve had FAR more sales. I think Mercury did this by design because these Brothas were too smart. If it was done correctly, they would’ve gone 2x platinum within 4 months.
Was so glad PF Cuttin used that Gwen McCrae sample " Rockin' Chair'" Always loved that record as a kid ( STILL have the 45) and threw in the Jeru for the authentic BK kick!!! Blahzay came hard with it!
So many cats walked away from that "industry" madness, you did the right thing my G never compromise ya manhood. I always wondered what happened to duke tho..We need that sound out here TODAY because mad cats have lost touch with the essence of the culture to where you aint hip hop now you're a rock star now, you aint a lyricist now you're a junkie. Blahzay need to drop a independent joint put that classic energy back out into the air...Peace and Blessings.
Im from Miami but im a old head lmao 36 years of age.I remember when this record came out it was crazy. This new era of music just weak.Bring Hip Hop back..!!
Today, when the DJs play that record, it sets the tone for 90s Hip Hop. That sound instantly takes you back to a time. What's even crazy is that record was played real heavy on the west coast despite all that east coast west coast shit. That song is forever a classic. Homie walked away without selling his soul. I respect that.
Thank you. I went at 17 into the Navy, from ENY. Was in San Diego, of course they were fiending for those tapes. They were rocking the hell out of it. Must have been somewhere else cause I swear, that's the first I heard about his being about anything but East NY. Just anything was getting blamed I guess. I used to DJ with my partner at a club on the weekends and i'm telling you I never heard that, ever.
Yo that was my joint... When you was from the EAST you was banging that song hard.....when the beginning of the song started we was all yelling DANGER...we need that old school flow back...peace and power Blahzay...
"But we don't believe that cause CBS tells a lot" Speak it Blahzay! I am happy you are able to put the truth out there for all to see know and hear. I still bop to this classic. I had to go and listen to this song from the beginning. People say "its time for a change," I say its time for legendary music to come back and teach some of these rappers who made it in the game a lesson on "REAL." If we believe that we learn from what our fore-parents teachings then the statement also stands true in music. Peace.
BIG SALUTE to Blahzay and P.F.!! Been rockin wit'em since day 1!! Glad that they're being recognized by KTKoC for their contribution to the resurgence of REAL Hip Hop circa mid nineties; and maintaining their INTEGRITY as MEN, and as Artists!! #LEGENDARY
East Oakland CA tappin in.. We used to bang the hell outa this track. I can't even in front, we used to act like this track was made for us lol. I'm sure every Eastside Hood in America did as well haha. #Salute #RipGuru
Been a minute salute The Kraze King of Content another classic gem i remember when this dropped still in Bk all day and salute Blahzay Blah East Ny legend peace.
I also love how Pete Rock says he thought Danger was produced by Preemo at first, I thought the same thing when I first listened to Blah Blah Blah on a whim. Was pleasantly surprised to find out it was someone else, PF Cuttin was the main producer for the thing, anyone who could fool me into thinking they were Premier has gotta be worth getting into more.
This record had nothing to do with east coast it was about East New York Brooklyn. People outside of Brooklyn ran with it and fueled the fire but inside Brooklyn we knew he was talking about East New York.

You may have even got the actual instrumental of an artist's single on those cassettes back then.
Hell yeah. And 12 inch and cassette singles with extended instrumentals, remixes, and dubs. I MISS singles.
This was the song in DC too. I remember the club would go crazy when it came on back in those days at the Mirage Nightclub.

The narrative behind this song has changed. I remember him sayin “the east” meant East NY not the east coast.
