  • Continuing with our technical video series, we were unable to clean the print head. After multiple cleans we determined that the head was clogged, so we decided to purchase a new print head. In this video, we show you how replaced our clogged print head with a brand new one in our Anajet mp5i Direct to Garment printer.
    If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

    Your video and instructions are so much better than Anajet! Thank you. Question: should we cut off the bottom of the hoses before reconnecting to the new print head, to cut off stretched out hose?

    • @SignWorxNC
      @SignWorxNC  6 років тому

      Thanks for watching. We try our best to help others as much as possible. It is easier if you take an Xacto and cut the hoses right at the print head.

    • @MarieF1111
      @MarieF1111 6 років тому +1

      Thanks. Did it. Pretty proud of myself! The worst part was loosening the screws, then hearing that crack noise. But remembered that you warned us about the noise! Had to cut the black hoses because there were tears at the end, before I started yanking at them. Perfect nozzle checks now, perfect prints. Thank you!

    Very helpful - Thanks. My nozzle check looks like your old one, before the head replacement. Do you think a head flush will fix the problem?.... before I drop the cash on a new head.

    • @SignWorxNC
      @SignWorxNC  6 років тому

      yes that is always an option. if you flush it out with cleaning solution you can see if that will help. You can also try to take the head off and use simple green as a last resort to try to flush anything out of the head. Anajet does not recommend doing that but if you are about to buy a head. you might as well try the simple green.

      I am still curious of your luck on trying to resurrect your old one. I think if you soaked it in Purple Hammer cleaning solution for a few days, then put it back in the printer and ran the cleaning cartridges through it, then put the ink in it, then 1 head clean, then let it sit for a day. I have a good feeling that would fix it despite it sounds like a lot.

    Have you tried heating the tubes with a blow dryer to get them off the printhead easier?

    • @SignWorxNC
      @SignWorxNC  6 років тому

      not with a blow dryer but we have tried a heat gun. the heat gun did help but we now just take an exacto and trim it straight to the top of the nipple on the print head. its much easier and faster. and there is more than enough extra slack so as to not worry about the line being too short. you just cant do it more than a couple times. lol

    What would you soak the Print head in to try n clear it out?

    • @SignWorxNC
      @SignWorxNC  7 років тому

      we have tried to soak in water, simple green, normal cleaning solution, alcohol and denatured alcohol. Simple green has had the best results when it was heating up before soaking but it wasn't a complete fix to make it usable again but it did clear up more nozzles.

    Hi man i have an anajet mp5i the maintenance station pump is disconnected is there any chance you could tell me where the lines go ?the two lines that come in the maintenance station pump

  • @mpickett3
    @mpickett3 8 років тому +1

    I have an mp5 that I have had idle for a period and it appears the black line has become clogged. Can still get yellow through the print head so I do not think the printhead is an issue. Have you ever replaced the ink lines? Can you recommend a way to clear a line without removing them?

    • @SignWorxNC
      @SignWorxNC  8 років тому +2

      +mpickett3 It actually could be a clogged printhead. Each print head actually has two sets of jets. One side can clog and the other side be perfectly fine, we had that issue once on our white. One side printed while the other side didn't.There are a few other areas it could be though. One is....even as silly as it sounds. you are out of ink. We had another person call us asking the exact thing and he was just out of ink. Not saying that would be you but it has come up. Its like the joke of the tv not working and to only find out it wasn't plugged in...Second is the dampers. if the damper for that color is damaged it wont properly pull ink through the head. I haven't put up a video yet on how to change those. Its not the easiest but it would be one of the cheapest. Third is there could be a clog but it would be in the print lines like you mentioned. I would disconnect the lines from two sides and see if you can push cleaning fluid through it. If you know its in the line I would recommend removing the line before the damper and connection to the cartridge and use a syringe to push cleaning fluid though the line. We haven't replaced the entire print line but just sections close to the damper when we changed the dampers.I hope this helps. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask.

    • @SignWorxNC
      @SignWorxNC  5 років тому

      was it a brand new head? or a refurbished one. We have seen issues with refurbished ones having issues like this but it will sometimes clear up. If it is brand new I would try to push some more ink through it..even try printing with it. If it doesn't clear up, I might get it replaced.

    how do you calibrate the voltage if it says error?

    • @SignWorxNC
      @SignWorxNC  7 років тому

      You go into the menu system and go to diagnostics and there will be a section that says read print head voltages. you can select that setting and go the right until it reads calibrate head voltage. it should then calibrate. Then go back and read the settings and make sure you are good to go.

    HOW OFTEN WOULD YOU SAY YOU'VE HAD TO REPLACE A PRINT HEAD? ive had my mp5 now for about 3 years. it seems that one of the white heads doesn't print as well as the other one. its almost like one of the white heads is working and one is not. i still get some ink but ive done plenty of print head cleans/purges ect. with no luck. also seems with the one print head that works, i get about about 90% good nozlle check which isnt bad, but it doesnt seems like theres enough ink coming out of it either. idk.
    so when doin my white prints i end up going over the print twice with the white which actually turns out pretty good but its just a nuisance and i feel i wasting ink even though maybe im not since hardly anything is coming out of the second white head..ha any suggestions?

    • @SignWorxNC
      @SignWorxNC  7 років тому

      We have had ours since 2013 and have replaced a total of 3 print heads on our machine. The first one we had left alone for too long while we were on vacation and then i damaged the first replacement. And then we had another print head start acting weird and we replaced that one. But we have noticed with the whites. its normally always the outside nozzle that will not want to print as well as the inside. and we think even though the nozzles are microns from each other the outside one is closest to the elements. NOW i am not sure if this is the case but we think that because of that it tends to clog first. but to combat this, besides printing and cleaning the heads. if the gasket around the maintenance station isn't clean or damaged it will not have a proper seal around the head and will assist in the drying out of the head.

    Have you ever soaked a head and gotten it to work again instead of buying a new print head?

    • @SignWorxNC
      @SignWorxNC  8 років тому

      +Dhymond Nicholls I haven't soaked it yet but that is what I plan to do with the one I removed. I just didn't have time to soak it since I had to be back up quick to keep printing. But I do plan on soaking the one I have to test if it can get it working again since I would love to have it has a back up, just in case. I have been putting a list together of what I will test to soak the head in.
