I'd love it if you did a video describing how the house system works. I've always pronounced valor as "val er" rather than like the fabric velour " va loo er". :-) Perhaps the school pronounces the house name differently though the meaning of 'val er" is bravery/courage.
All of our houses are character traits in different languages. Valor, while also a word in English, is the Spanish word for courage and in Spanish the pronunciation is different so that’s why I’m not pronouncing it the way we would in English. We teach our students about the word in Spanish❤️
I didn't realize that you teach more than Ela and math. Would love to see more about how you teach science and history or just simply what your schedule looks like and how you fit it all in. I am a first and second grade teacher in a private school and I teach all subjects. Your channel has been very helpful over the past couple years!
I love the idea of the vegetable analogy! I’m about to do long addition and subtraction with my gifted fourth graders (9-10 digits and word problems)- most of them come in very fluent with traditional algorithms largely thanks to their parents (for all four computation types) and get frustrated with me for making them practice some of the other strategies. I’ve tried explaining that the strategies are ways to show why the algorithm works, but I think the vegetables analogy will make a lot more sense to them. Definitely going to use it!
Our school does House Colors too! We are having an end of Quarter party on Monday for the winning house color for all students in the school who are that color. It's a friendly competition each week between all of the House Colors.
Love the vegetable analogy for math strategies! I also really like the intervention binder that you set up. You inspired me to do something similar for my 4th gr intervention group. :)

For your Fox files is thatwork that is not completed that they put in there-or is it work is graded that you are sending home? Do you guys send home work every day for every subject or what do you send home for the students to work on?. Also curious to know how much you actually grade... do you grade every single worksheet and activity that they do or just the lesson work and tests?
