А как по мне - так этот проект больше похож на распил денег на очередном футуристическом проекте, который на бумаге выглядит как великолепная фантастика, воплощённая в жизнь, а на деле окажется очередным провальным новоделом. Чисто физически представить себе "жизнь в линии" как можно? Зависимость от высокоскоростного эффективного транспорта тут будет в разы выше чем в обычных городах. И похоже такое понятие как "прогуляться пешком" до какого-либо пункта в таком городе просто исчезнет. Всё будет так далеко от тебя, что единственный шанс туда добраться - это воспользоваться каким-либо транспортом. И по факту, чтобы жителям не пришлось ради работы, учёбы или покупок делать ежедневные длительные поездки, скорее всего весь город-линия в итоге окажется разделён на своеобразные кластеры, районы, где будет присутствовать всё необходимое для жизни местного населения и внутри которых и будет идти по сути вся жизнь жителей этого района, а перемещение в остальные районы города сократится почти до нуля - т.к. это будет далеко и нецелесообразно.

I dont know about building Singapore costing only 20 billion, seems a bit inaccurate since on a tiny island in Europe which is cheaper than many European cities just to build a 7-8 floor appartment building with every floor around 120-150 sqm will cost you around 1-2 million euros to build and finish with water and electricity so it will only take 10,000 buildings like I mentioned at 2 million euros each to reach the 20 billion and now considering most materialnhas almost doubled in price I think it is very accurate considering all the labour also involved

If it is lined up with the Sun's path, the solar panels will not be efficient, unless tilted in some way. If "the line" is not lined up, then the inner walls will be in perpetual darkness. I'm sure there is a reasoning here, but I wonder what is the choice between those two... The maintenance problem with solar panels (it seems to me) is that they accumulate dust and impurities when not vertical, so I think I would choose not lined up with the Sun, perpetual shadows inside, and more efficient, with vertical solar panels facing the Sun.

I think Mt. Sinai is Jabal al Lawz in Saudi Arabia just near the underwater narrow land bridge where the Israelites crossed the Red Sea when the East Wind lowered the sea level as related in the Exodus of the Bible. In the movie The Ten Commandments there is a wall of water on either side of the crossing. It is the image that may have inspired the Saudis to create NEOM in honour of the Red Sea crossing. This may be the way to symbolize the way to Jabal al Lawz or Mount Sinai. It was reported that a tourist city would be built near Jabal al Lawz so NEOM is the tourist city where pilgrims can take the route through NEOM to their destination at Jabal al Lawz.
Saudi Arabia would be the site of the Mecca Pilgrimage and Jabal al Lawz the site of the Abrahamic religions' Pilgrimage.

I am speculating. There are videos by Christian websites promoting Jabal al Lawz as the site of Jabal Moussa where Moses received the Ten Commandments. Ron Wyatt was the archaeologist who found the site and the Saudis in 80s 0r 90s got as much information from Wyatt at the same time closed off the site to foreigners and also fearing destruction of artifacts. There was a prince (not MBS) who indicated that they would build a tourist city near the site. Seeing the importance of the site and the tourist value I guess this project has been planned a long time. The Saudis see a lot of pilgrims to the Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt to the "Mt. Sinai" which the Christians promote but now realize that it does not meet the descriptions in the Bible of the Exodus. MBS is a very clever man and may have come up with this idea as this religious site was dormant for 10 or 20 years. There are Christian websites showing various adventurers visiting the site.
