Hey everyone! Tell me the best whiskey you've had recently! And I only have 23 more challenge coins left from batch 1. If you want one, now's the time to act.
$10 a piece plus $3.50 shipping in the U.S. Email me at thewhiskeydic@gmail.com
That must be Ledaig 10 I guess, really like that one, only got a sample though.
The Whiskey Dic I’ve had a few I’ve liked lately. Makers mark, Elijah Craig small batch and woodford reserve.
Cardhu gold reserve... surprisingly I liked it with little bit of warmer or slightly hot water...
Can’t decide between JD SBBP or OF 1920
Macallan 12Y double cask. I enjoyed it on Father's day. A rounded whiskey for me. Not sure if $49.99 was a good price, but it is a nice dram.
Was just gifted this Oban, so of course I had to see what you had to say. I'm quite delighted by how much body this has to match the big waft of fruit off the nose. This will be a pleasant one to end the day on.
Huh, I'll have to look out for the 14 to try.
The Spirit Monk[e]y finds the purchasing of Oban Little Bay in the near future to be of the utmost importance and urgency.
Little Bay now up to $65 at my local store (Oban 14yr up to $93!!)! I'm definitely a Scotch fan, but have never had a bottle of Oban. Need to keep looking!!
At the outset I thought nothing of it... Oban Little Bay was a meh entry level whisky! About halfway down the bottle something magic happened and made this one brilliant little dram! I enjoyed the rest of the bottle one great big bunch! I will be revisiting the Oban 14, as one of the first whiskies that I ever tried with several layers of complexity...
The price is all over the map. I've bought it in MA for $35 (Total Wine and Georgio's), but it's $60 at the state liquor store in NH.
Oban Little Bay is a great whisky - I just love the vanille from the new virgin oak casks
Nice review! I'm also a fan of Oban 14 (and 18), so I'll definitely give this a try.
I haven't yet tried the 18. It's usually a bit too expensive for me to pick up on a whim. Maybe I need Oban to sponsore me :)
Well I am always looking for a solid budget dram. 👍
People seem to be saying the price wildly varies. Hopefully this is cheap near you
Bill:
Thank you for the review Definitely need to pick this up for warm weather sipping. It sounds right down my alley for summer.
SLÁINTE
Mike
I think you'll enjoy it!
Sold! I love Oban 14 too (thanks to you) so I will put this on the buy list, although out here in CA it won't be anywhere close to the price you paid. Certainly more...
It's pretty tasty
I'm glad I could influence you on that! Oban 14 is such a solid dram.
@@TheWhiskeyDictionary I watch a lot of review channels, but I have run down the entire list of your starter Scotch whisky suggestions plus others you've made in subsequent episodes (including some Irish) and I haven't been disappointed once so far. So your influence is big around here.
That's awesome! Thanks :)
I'm from the UK and Oban 14 is cheaper here than little bay, RRP for little bay is £62 and cheapest is £52. £48 RRP for Oban 14 and £45.90 is the cheapest I can find.
It's mad how much cheaper some of these whiskies are in America considering they are exported from Scotland, when someone from Scotland will have to pay more.
Same here in Japan little bay is 70 usd and 14 only 48 usd.
I bought a bottle of Oban 14 last night and tried it for the first time. I compared it to Glenlivet 12 side by side and I found the Glenlivet was actually a little easier to drink for me. Don't get me wrong, the Oban is great!! Maybe my taste buds just need to adjust to the good stuff. My next purchase will definitely be the Little Bay, Little Bay! Cheers!! Mike
That's interesting to di a side by side between those two. What made you think to compare them? Was it just what you had available?
Actually I picked up the Oban 14, Glenlivet 12, and Glenfiddich 12 all at the same time yesterday. I already had The Balvenie 16, Johnny Walker Black, The Macallan and a couple others on my bar. I'm not sure what made me compare those 2 side by side specifically. Oban has a great reputation and I just wanted to compare it to something that I knew and liked. I'm so glad I found your channel!! I'll be watching all of them eventually. Very helpful!! I just ordered a half dozen glencairn glasses too just to improve my experience.
That's awesome! I'm actually unveiling my own glencairns in a day or two!
Found this one at $30 here in west central Wisconsin. VERY GOOD scotch for the price......
WOW.. That's a great price! It's about $60 here in New York. Buy Two and smile back at New York. :)
This is 38 bucks in arkansas, been on the fence about it sounds like I need to pick one up
Do it!
$37? WOW! This sells for $68 at the local TW&M in California. Ardbeg 10 is $48, Highland park Magnus is $40 and the Highland Park 12 is $45, So if I want a peated or lightly peated whisky with oceanic influence there are a few others out there that are under $50.
Here in south Florida, Oban little bay costs like $20 more then Oban 14. $98.
So, if someone had a passionate love affair with this whisky because to them it tastes like ozone, petrichor, and nostalgia, what would you recommend to try next? Thanks muches!
Little Bay is a weird one. It's either around the same price as the 14-year-old ($60ish) or it's HALF the damned price ($30-40). Rarely is it somewhere in between. Pretty frustrating.
Best whisk(e)y I've had recently? I almost never open anything extravagant, so even the standard Hazelburn 10 I'd been sitting on kind of blew my mind when I finally cracked it a couple weeks ago. You'd think that, being triple distilled and unpeated, it would be on the lighter and friendlier side but it's surprisingly dense, rich, and complex with just a hint of peat.
I have never tried that one. I'll need to keep an eye out
@@TheWhiskeyDictionary AFAIK you and can't find it in New England. I see Springbank and Longrow, but Hazelburn appears to be nonexistent up here. (All three brands fall under the Springbank distillery umbrella.) Had to order it from overseas.
Next you need to review Oban Little Bay Game of Thrones The Night's Watch (that was a mouthful for a name).
I already did! Look back a month or so
@@TheWhiskeyDictionary it isn't being released in Ontario until next month. That is why I never even thought of looking to see if it was already reviewed.
Where you get that price.....I googled and nothing less than 50 +.
Total Wine in Massachusetts
The best whisky I've had lately is story of the Spaniard. Once you let it open up its all dark fudge and raspberry
I see that one frequently and consider buying it... never have but I'd like to
@@TheWhiskeyDictionary you need to it is definitely worth it. It's not a typical Sherry bomb, the Spanish red wine cask give it a slightly drier finish
are you looking forward to try whiskey from slipknot ? if yes please review it when its available ... thx :)
I didnt know they were coming out with one, but I'm very excited!
its not a cheap whisky anymore its in total wine and more ,the exact one you are reviewing for 74.99, crazy how high in price scotch have gone up
That damn excise tax
Price has doubled in less than 3 years!
Wow, nearly $60 here :-(
I guess word got out.
this bottle is $97 at total wine in Florida!!! not $37
Absolutely nuts
Little Bay is more expensive here than the 14...
That's nuts
Haha dat wilde ik net zeggen
@@TheWhiskeyDictionary I agree
Was in my Albuquerque Total Wine and Little Bay was $89.99??? The 14yo was $49.99? Makes no sense.
That's crazy
Yeah...I just paid that there, so I can confirm. I was SO disgusted to find out that it's like $40 on Ace.UGH.
$69.96 in my neck of the woods. Thanks
Yikes! Where are you?
@@TheWhiskeyDictionary Michigan
$100.00 for a bottle up here in Canuckistan! Nice review otherwise bill.
Dont buy it for that much. Oof
grown-ups don't drink coke. EW with some water, maybe ice. no hangover. ever.
Grown ups drink anything that makes them happy. I mostly drink it for the caffeine
So you really think that color is real? I call it medium/high Diageo.
Hey Triplecap! Havent seen you in a while.
As for the color... unless a whisky says its non colored, I assume it is
