Signal on the left: 3 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs, a WCH mechanical bell, a WCH gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs, a WCH mechanical bell, a WCH gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.
After catching the southbound Palmetto in Wilson, I hit the road for Kenly to wait on the Carolinian. I actually wound-up getting ahead of the Palmetto leaving Wilson, but it passed me on US 301 between Lucama and Kenly, lol. Anyways, after nearly an hour of waiting here, I was able to get my eighth train of the day: AMTK 79 with a P42DC for power. I believe this is the first time I got a P42DC in Phase VII paint. I think this was the most Amtrak trains I've ever filmed in one day, given that I caught five different Amtrak trains on this day!
This crossing is another great one, featuring another late-70s SCL install that's still fairly original. The only major change to these signals, it appears, was the upgrade of the crossing to LED by CSX sometime between 2016 and (presumably) 2018. Thankfully, other than that, these signals are still fully original, which is great to see. Both of the original 1st Gen WCH mechanical bells still sound fairly healthy, and I always enjoy filming more older WCH gate mechs like this. Hopefully these signals remain unchanged for many more years to come, but, either way, I'm glad I was able to get this crossing filmed.
