Thank you, that’s very kind of you to say. I’m definitely the Wish knockoff version of a Star Trek character. Thank you for watching and I hope to hear your thoughts on all the Star Trek topics!
Thanks for watching! But it’s less of an explanation than a first impression. I’ll definitely have a far more detailed video later when the full rules get released.
Yes, they’re the same book inside. Aside from the collector’s edition having the 1701-D cover, the only other difference I’m aware of is the collector’s edition has three bookmark ribbons in the three division colors. The collector’s edition came with the Borg Cube boxed set as well as being sold separately, but isn’t in print anymore. Still, some players have found copies available at local stores recently so it might be worth trekking out to brick and mortar shops if that’s the design you want.
The fact that Modiphius has some other 2d20 games that use player’s guide and gamemaster’s guide as the core rule books (Achtung! Cthulhu, Dreams and Machines, and the upcoming Cohors Cthulhu), makes the “guide” books for this all the more confusing. I wonder how many refunds they may have had to do because of this.
I don’t play the other games in the 2d20 line so I didn’t know that. It is a peculiar choice in that light and I’ve definitely seen a lot of new players mistakenly believing the GMG and PG are rulebooks.
Thanks for commenting! I’m so very glad that you got some use out of the video. I hope you find something of interest with our other videos. And if you have any requests for topics, please send them our way!
Thinking about trying the game out and this channel has been a huge resource. I do have a rulebook question: Is the Digest Rulebook the full (updated per newer releases) rules just without all the pretty pictures and graphics?
Thank you for watching! Yes, the Digest is the full rule book with most (if not all) of the updates to the text from the Klingon book. One difference, however, is that the Digest is a TOS-themed product so it also removed all TNG era references from the original rulebook, including stats for the ships, NPC, etc. Of course the game itself is still designed to be run in any era you choose.
@@RiftsCommando yes that would work but I think it all depends on what you want to have. The original core is mainly TNG themed but designed for all eras whereas the Digest is purely focused on giving a TOS theme. If it’s only the ships you want (because really that is the main difference) you could just pick up Utopia Planitia with the Digest. While there may be some species and life path options absent, the online character creator really handles that all. So you could honestly get by with any single rulebook of your choice and let the online generator handle everything that you don’t have access to.
Thanks for the video. I just purchased The Roleplaying Game Core Rulebook pdf and would like to know if this game can be played solo? If yes, do you have any video's on how to play solo or where to go for help. Thanks!
There are no built-in solo mechanics for this game but I've seen a few players discuss doing so using other sources like Mythic GM Emulator. I'd suggest joining the Facebook group if you haven't already. You could ask about it there or do a search for "solo" and you'll find a lot of the discussions about it. facebook.com/groups/317545986337414/ Thanks for the comment and welcome to the game!
Your setup is the best on UA-cam.
Plus, wearing a Star Fleet uniform.
I mean you look like an actor on the spin-offs.

definitely agree about how the core book is organized. all the flipping around through the pages is wearing my book out. lol
That’s the biggest downside of it. It’s such a great book but could have used a little more organization.
Thanks for explaining this, great video!

2nd edition is coming out soon!
It’s here! Have you gotten your copy yet?
@@thefinalfrontiersmen not yet, but I definitely will soon!
Great job! I have been debating which book to get and this helps.
So glad to hear it! This is a great game and one of the most fun systems I've ever played. I hope you get as much enjoyment out of it as I do.
Confused by the Core rule book covers: is the NCC-D and the Vulcan Science Officer the same book with a different cover image?

Ah, okay great. So if I wanted the TNG era info with the updated rules do I need the regular rulebook and the Klingon source book to have it all?

That's great. Sounds like the Digest and Utopia books will do for a start.
Great video, thank you! I would love to chat with you as I want to advance in this series. Have a wonderful day!
