    I did similar in my holiday rambler. Used 6.8 kw of leaf modules a 100 Amp powmr charge controller, a all in one powmr 3000 watt controller with inverter and a 4000 watt sungold power inverter. I currently only have 8 sharp panels ground deployed but adding 4 more on the roof soon. I love seeing builds like this

    Great setup Cody, the MPP is at an amazing price and so are those Chins batteries.

      The MPP is an awesome machine and logs awesome data for some pretty sweet visualizations too! There will definitely be some future videos on this!

    I'm doing the inovair 220 volt minisplit next weekend to be powered by the sungold.. it's all 24 volt also

      Ahhh nice! If you dont mind me asking, why 220v vs 120v? Do you have other 220 appliances in your RV?

    Hey Cody, I think you said you had 7x12v panels in series going to your MPP controller unit. Did you meter the voltage of that string? Could easily be 150-160v exceeding the maximum PV input of your MPP unit. Maybe your panels are different but my 12v panels put out about 23v each so I put 8 of them in a 4S2P config getting about 90v to my MPP unit.

      They are 19 VOC each, so very close, but still below that 150 mark. I absolutely did put a multimeter on the string before attaching to the MPP. Thanks for watching!

      Most these go bad from rattling around on the wall and floors..Why I mounted mine on rubber isolator mounts....Plus they can get more air flow behind them.. You can install a HiLetgo W1209 thermal switch to control the temp..Just add a low RPM high static flow fan. As the W1209 draw only like .25mA....

    Nice job on the system and very nice presentation. 👍
    I have a very similar setup but went with the PowerQueen 100 ah lifepo4 batteries ($319 each).

      Thanks for the watch, comment, and sub! Welcome! I too looked at the PowerQueen batteries at the time of my setup about a year ago, but I believe they were just slightly more expensive than Chins. Regardless, I'm sure they are a great choice!

    You mentioned that you have your batteries set up as 24v. Do you have any 12v lights or other 12v components on your trailer? If yes, how do you deal with those?

    • @theconnectedcamper
      @theconnectedcamper  Рік тому

      Bob, this is a great question. I removed my 12v trailer battery, but the converter/charger that came with the trailer remains. It takes the 120v from the inverter and feeds the 12v system and it is all that way from the factory. The inverter runs all the time so the 12v system is always powered. Thanks for watching! :)

    How long can you run your a/c for at night off of your battery's thanks

      The mini split runs off the battery all night. We typically wake up with the battery around 30%, so still plenty left to work, make coffee, etc. Thanks for watching!

    Are you running your RV completely off solar, then?

    Great video and info, but what kind of voltages is coming from your solar panels with them all in series. While you can use smaller wires, it seems that the voltage might be too high for most controllers...

      Great callout Kenneth! The panels end up being around 140v VOC and the limit on the MPP is 150v VOC. The MPP does have built in protection for if they go over voltage, so no concerns there if they are over performing. I do plan to add 3 more panels to the top shortly, at that time I will be splitting them into two strings of 5 panels so I don't go over on VOC. Thanks for watching :)
