- An Oakland police sergeant was defending himself when he shot and killed a man who targeted him just steps away from the plaza at City Hall, an officer with the police union said. Velena Jones said.

Yes, Oakland has been crime ridden for decades, but lately it's just over the top. Muggings in tourist traps like Jack London Sq and now a shoot out in front of City Hall. REALITY is that this increase in Crime is being seen in Big Cities nationwide, and is primarily due to the Once Mighty American Empire going down the toilet and taking down all of us with it. The same chaos happened before the Fall of Rome, and now history is just repeating itself.

Considering that many cities who have the strictest gun laws also have the highest gun violence because criminals don't obey gun laws. And the criminals also know that most people who live in those cities can't carry a gun which makes them a sitting duck to criminals. Cities where most citizens carry guns often have the lowest crime.

Thank goodness that was an "officer" and not a local resident of Oakland because we all know damn well...Oakland police force would've been happy to arrest the local person and the DA would happily charge them with carrying a firearm in public without permit knowing how difficult it is to get one in the county. Sometimes, I do secretly wish for the villain to win! why? Why should the Oakland police officers be the only one to defend themselves in that situation? Exactly! Anyone who owns a firearm "LEGALLY" should be able to carry one with them for scenario like this happens too often and the California justice system is known for its effort to charge and arrest its citizen while going and above to defend the criminal!

You are allowed to apply for a concealed license. I don't know how easy it is to get one. But, to say that you can't conceal carry is a lie. I believe if you have no felonies or DV charges . You should be able to have a conceal weapon permit. So, please stop it with the false narrative that law-abiding citizens can't carry. Most states that allow concealed carry require a permit. No different than California. You guys just want to bash California for no reason. Also, the first and only time NRA supported a gun control law and signed by Reagan was during the civil rights movement. So, blame Reagan for starting strict gun control laws.
