I really like this video. My favorite of these 2 knives is the AD-15. Once you learn how the lock works and it is broken in, it will drop shut. It can be deployed by flicking, Spydie flicking, rolling open, or holding open the lock and slinging it open. It is the most fightable knife I have ever owned.
i guess Im asking the wrong place but does any of you know a way to log back into an Instagram account? I stupidly forgot my password. I love any assistance you can give me!
@Memphis River i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Had an AD10- Sold it. Currently have an AD15 and won't be selling that- great, unique knife. But from a strictly functional/get shit done point of view, the S35VN Recon 1 beats both of them.
15 for me I have both, bought the 10 first and really liked it, bought the 15 and put the 10 back in its box. 15 is big but not huge, strangely nicer, comfier to carry than my Shaman. One knife only 15 or Shaman....?
I have the AD15, I bought it for the Scorpion lock feature which is very intuitive. I have many Cold Steels knives that would fit the bill of the AD10 roll. Specifically my SR1's...which are basically the same but much stronger and about the same size, and they are drop shut smooth. Not sure if I'll buy the AD10...
I own both of them and my preference is for the AD15. However I agree with Kevin's comments about the AD10. My AD15 has loosened up and is smoother than the one in the video.
I think the Cold Steel Ultimate Hunter and American Lawman blade design and size would compare well. Theses are basically working or hunting knives with less tactical applications. The tips are less likely to break than with many other designs. With other makers, the Spyderco Shaman, Lion Steel SR-1 and, for similar use but very affordable, the Ganzo G20 and G722 would compare surprisingly well.
Agreed. Both knives are really great in their own right. If I am choosing one, the AD-15 design speaks to me. I understand that the scorpion lock becomes buttery smooth. Many lightly sand down the scales. Can't be worse than my Microtech DOC. Thanks, great work.
Good God, your pricing is better than Europe's! Thanks for the vid! Really was thinking to get the AD10, but this is the vid that got me off the fence. I think...
Nice video Kevin . These are Both Awesome knives , and the Value of each one is Outstanding . Where can you buy a 90% - 95% replica of a custom knife (not a clone) for a 1/4 of the price ? No where, but Cold Steel. So if your a CS fan , or not , just buy them both , you won't be disappointed , you Can't be disappointed , They are that Good .
Still happy with my choice of the AD10 on this first run of the two. I didn't purchase this version of the AD15 as I do not like the color or the texturing of the scales. On the second release if the AD15 has smooth mircarta or G10, aluminum or titanium scales I will get one.
If the AD15 had smooth g10 (like the AD10 does) I would buy it for sure. The scorpion lock is still of great interest. If they made a few changes (or different options), then I would be much more interested. As it currently is the AD15 looks like a pocket shredder because of the heavy texturing, and to be honest I dont care for the ugly shade of green (and I like green).
Great review as usual. I would go with the AD10 because I'm not real big into innovation AND the AD10 looks so awesome to me. My big gripe with Cold Steel knives is they are not easily deployable compared to Benchmade and Spyderco. I love them but let's face it, if I was being attacked and only had one hand free I can deploy a BM or Syderco much easier than most CSs. The detint is so strong. If your thumb is not perfectly on that stud, it will slip off and the blade will close back on you (and sometimes cutting the tips of your fingers, which has happened to me). The AD10 appears to have closed this gap. It looks flickable! This is huge news to me.
The ad-10 is DEFINITELY flickable! I've had mine for a month and it got (spydie) flickable after about two weeks. I own benchmades and spydercos and it's now just as easy to deploy
Hey Kevin, really enjoying your videos and just subscribed. You've got a gift with knife reviews my friend.. please keep it up! Sitting here fidgeting with my AD 15, and absolutely love it. 2 quick thoughts.. Did they change the color of the yolk (at least that's what I've heard people refer to it as) on the scorpion lock, I have the green version and the yolk is considerably darker. Also I loved your original video on the AD10. Have you ever looked at the Boker Caracal? I have one in black G10 and if I didn't think it was redundant I'd probably get the AD10 as well, but they remind me so much of each other I'm not sure if it's worth it.. : / Anyhoo, be well my friend, and again really enjoyed your content : )
I like both but for know I ordered the AD15 just because of Its weird design. As far as slicers I have way better knives for that I like these because of the interesting designs.
Ive heard that Its so you can insert a metal rod (or something along those lines). Its supposed to act as a secondary lock of sorts, making it closer to a fixed blade. Dont know if this is true or not, but thats what I've heard. I say if you think you're gonna need a fixed blade then you should probably bring a fixed blade.
Your saying how good Cold steel implemented the triad lock as your closing the blade on top of your index finger. Good way to slice it right open. If that is the way you have to close the knife I stay clear of that one.
I assume you have not handled the knife the choil on the blade specifically allows for having your finger where I had mine most cold steels are designed like this.
I've closed it on my index before but it never cuts. Of course you need to put your finger up so the choil touches your finger instead of the edge, but if you close it on the edge no big deal as long as you're not swinging it shut.
#1 Lock backs suck big time #2 No thumb flipper on the back of the knife, when closed suck just as much! These knives therefore don't interest me in the least!

Thank you so much, you saved my ass!
@Jairo Melvin no problem :)
I’ve got both. AD-15 for daily carry rotation. AD-10 is for yard work, camping, that sort of thing. They’re high VERY hard to beat for hard use, IMO.
Had an AD10- Sold it. Currently have an AD15 and won't be selling that- great, unique knife. But from a strictly functional/get shit done point of view, the S35VN Recon 1 beats both of them.
Didn’t even finish the video yet but I bought the ad 15 for 2 major reasons. 1 : the scorpion lock is fascinating to me, 2 : it’s green
the AD10 with the AD15 blade would be my ultimate folder.
10 all the way. Hollow grind, better aesthetics, and better handle/lock make it an easy choice for me.
I could not decide as to which one I should purchase, so I bought both. Thanks Kev for another great review.
There was no deciding for me I knew I needed both

Odd. My ad15 is totally drop shut smooth. Maybe you’re not fidgeting with it enough.
I have both and I have to say, it's really nice to have both. Probably my two favorite knives. I love my AD 20.5 as well.
Good video. I agree with your choice. The AD 15 is for me, but I will buy both of them.

Great video man! But I feel I am no closer to deciding which 😂 God bless
I have both......I'm very impressed with them both!
I have went for the 15 as my backup for my fixed blade. Dont think the scorpion lock would fold on me.

Love my AD10. I'm thinking of getting the AD15 soon. Great Video!
AD-15 is just for ppl who have time to learn! It is like butterfly with one handle!
If the AD15 had smooth g10 (like the AD10 does) I would buy it for sure. The scorpion lock is still of great interest. If they made a few changes (or different options), then I would be much more interested.

They were on Massdrop both for under $300 for both for like a day. Definitely both
I think I'll buy both just to try them out 😊

I just got them both for 150 bucks on amazon so Im sure I'll be happy
Nice video! What is the purpose of the hole below the pivot on the AD10? 🐴
Ive heard that Its so you can insert a metal rod (or something along those lines). Its supposed to act as a secondary lock of sorts, making it closer to a fixed blade.

@@cameronutt6383 I gotcha, thanks for answering 🐴
Hey Kevin how do the actions compare? Which ones sound better? FYI if I adjusted the pivot slight in my ad15 and it’s super drop shutty now
Couldn't decide. Bought both.
Really disappointed the new AD10s are all flat ground. That itself, was the deal breaker for me, as I was on the line with this knife.
I just bought mine a week ago and it is hollow grind.
Logically ith AD-10 would be the better choice for edc...BUT...I would still buy the AD-15 , i just like it better.
The Bush Ranger is also in the same class. Love both that and my AD15.
Currently debating AD10 vs Shaman... thoughts?
AD-10 all day
The ad 10 is much better !
Two concepts in lock system, but both Demko.
AD-10 for me!
Since you've now has a custom AD15 and a production AD15 is the custom worth 4 times more ?
I suspect it is not lol
Why did the prices go up on these? Right now the AD10 is around $190
Yeah it's quite high still a good knife but the value equation is totally thrown off
@@Kevinclearysharpstuff Yea I just ordered one at the new price anyway
Both of them are cnc machine clones of custom design !
Hahahaha
I’m in toronto and I have the code 4 clip point in cts-xhp if you want to check out
Have to wait till the I got it first crowd stops paying $200.00 for the was it $90.00 knife ! Or wait for the clone !
One year later. Still 200$. They sold cold steel company two days ago. Get it now or who knows
Yep its all about that 10, the 15 seems gimmicky
Where's the Ultimate Hunter?!?
Don't have it anymore but I will try to get one for a comparison vud
Ah, the yin and yang of knife testing. You have to trade off good stuff to get new stuff. Must suck some times...

Seems kinda pointless watching this being as we've already seen your Recon1 vs AD10 and Recon1 vs AD15 comparison vids... !!
the series wouldnt be complete without this video
