The earliest reference of Ram is from Valmiki Ramayan In Valmiki Ramayan Ram is referred as Maryada Purshotam which means a dignified and elevated man He is not projected as a God Was made into a God sometime during the Puranic era that is around 1950--- 1400 years ago.
