good stuff. thanks for posting. I'll be looking at this often until I don't have to think about it. Just starting the path to reading music much too late and this helps a lot.
+Brooklyn Skinny Pigs I'm having the same problem as a trumpet player learning to play baritone. I expect it would be easier if I switched entirely, but I'm having to remember both clefs and god does bass clef hurt my head after 4 years of treble...
ThePoisonChocolate I did treble for trumpet for 2 years, it was for band but now I'm learning the bass, over time you get used to it but I wanna perfect it, that why I'm here
As you know there off by a space or a line. Don't think of it that way. First remember the notes as they are..and don't use crutch sayings good boy do..your mind has to go though multiple steps.. every has to be identified,, your mind hears this as 2 or three syllables. Every ry or ev eh ry...so the notes already gone by..D2 and D4 are the same distance from the stag. D3 is the middle ..Watch this over and over again.. I see to be terrible at the bass cleff untill I remembered the notes. Remember one or two notes a day.. make them your hardest ones. Then when you do exercises like this..they will get much better very quickly. Note I prefer to use the on guitar pieces, but piano it's standard all the way.
Great Mr Cutchen, many thanks! Many of us come from a tenor instrument, and then our brains tend to protest. You know what I think: good to start - quickly obviously - by seeing the location on the instrument, then the name. Because in the end the location is really sightreading.
I apologize for seeing this so late. I am sure you found something but, just in case, here is my treble clef video: ua-cam.com/video/29JIdZcVJKM/v-deo.html
Amazing !! thanks allot you so creative, it helped me allot, its nice the idea of writing the not after showing on the line, do you have a similar video for Treble clef?
thank you man.. lol. i was googling for more and more ways to test me other than reading pdfs and just calculating..My phone app is good but i get frustrated with its countdown method.
+Madeline Sorensen Hi, Madeline. The reason they are mixed up is that this is a visual flash card exercise. Just like you would use math flash cards, this is the same principle but using music flash cards. If you are looking for something to help you learn the notes, this video is good: ua-cam.com/video/PMk-q5LCiAs/v-deo.html
+Madeline Sorensen yeah you need to step back a hair. Once you KNOW what they are on the normal staff placement, you will want to get to this mixed up fashion so you arent just reading your alphabet outloud.

As a pianist becoming a hornist in school then losing bass clef skills, this video actually helped a lot.
Love that background music!

+Dan Cutchen I'll keep trying, thanks. I'm a flute player, so I'm not used to bass clef notes. But I want to learn them.

The background music is a juxtaposition of two songs. I took my vocals out.
