    I have a question does reverb take the 5% out of the shipping you charge also and if not why not increase shipping price and decrease selling price? Also this 2.5% charge for transactions is this on the buyers cc and is this charged when they transfer funds to your bank account?

    • @JeremySheppard
      @JeremySheppard  3 роки тому +1

      They charge 5% for using reverb, 2.5% for credit card processing, bump fees(usually 2-3%) plus shipping(which customers can lay, but reverb now treats all the same instead of separate.
      Reverb costs about 10% to sell anything on.

      @ultramindcontrolrealzz8367 3 роки тому +1

      @@JeremySheppard yes but my question is does reverb take their 5% off of just the sale price not what you are charging for shipping you can just jack the shipping price up in this case and avoid paying 5% on your profit if you charge a higher shipping fee if this is possible the customer looks at total price anyway.

    I've only sold 3 to 4 things on Reverb and they ranged from 1k to 1500 each in price. I've priced UPS shipping outside of Reverb with insurance and it has come out almost the same in the end after the Reverb fees and protection. For example, I just shipped an amp through Reverb after fees etc it was 145.00. UPS wanted 170.00 ground already packaged.

      YEs your shops return policies apparently don't mean anything. I had a customer blind return a guitar well after the return period and they expected me to honor it. My shops return policy is 3 days, I told them they are welcome to issue a refund after that.

I’m just wondering if you’re selling something less than the buyer protection amount (I think you said 1500?) do you feel that Reverb can work?

    In the music business, it's never good to talk anyone or anything down. But...I have to agree with you here. I too have had the same experience when selling my vintage SHURE microphone. I finally got so unhappy with the final cost, I just told them to keep the money and bailed out and the buyer got a FREE vintage SHURE mic. I have now been looking at other fair options. My question to you is, Can you help sell my 1968? vintage Hofner Beatle Bass.

    Hey Jeremy, thanks for making this video!
    I've sold my last two guitars on eBay rather than Reverb. Not by choice, per se, I list on both with a slight discount on eBay because of their more lax return policy and lower fees.
    Prior to the last two, I was appalled when I saw the final payout amount of a sale on Reverb. Combined with the tax changes (which, honestly, I don't quite understand fully to be honest -- sometimes _I__ pay taxes on a sale??? what??? I'm in NJ).
    I looked at gBase and it's very interesting but the monthly fee is what gets me. I'm not a full fledged "guitar hunter". I'm just an average joe who likes NGD so I let things go and get new things once in a while. When I can turn a profit, it's great, but, if not, I'm okay with the idea of "renting a guitar for $50 for a year", if you know what I mean.
    What this means is I sometimes go a few months without listing an item, then have only 1 item listed until it sells, then another month of no listings.
    My question is: do you think gBase would make sense for a seller like me? Can you "pause" your account so you are only getting charged by gBase when you have a listing? It would be great if this were the case and even better if it were prorated by days. I wouldn't mind paying $1.20 per day to have an "active" store.
    I also have concerns about the number of users on gBase. Reverb is still King for buyers and when I list, I usually hope to have a sale within a month, even if I take a small loss on the gear (refer to my aforementioned "rental mentality." -- does gBase have a large enough user base to move gear quickly, compared to Reverb?
    Anyway, thanks again for your insights!

    I paid about $586 just months ago for a pacific blue Epi Les Paul, and i just sold the thing for $250, after fees I'll make less than $200. Part of the issue is also the fact that some Reverb buyers are just cheap. They don't look at something compared to the new thing and decide it's a good deal. They just decide they don't want to pay that.

    What's really a shame is that the founder of Reverb created Reverb for the musicians as alternative to Ebay. But now everyone is going back to ebay! Much respect to the founder for taking action on this platform, who apparently is sitting fat on the sale to Etsy- good for him and well deserved. But for me? I just sold $4400 worth of stuff and was charged $665 in fees! I could of bought a whole new synthesizer for the amount I paid in fees. Normally I don't "complain" about things like this. But I think this is the end of what was once a good thing.

    Sold an expensive item recently by a certain shipper. Paid them to box it, insured it. They dropped it of course and damaged it. Put in my a claim. Here’s what the letter said. Denied!!! You packed it wrong. Over $100 to ship and their so called pledge is supposed to cover everything. So I called the store. They’re fine with us but claims kept asking tons of questions and would say we’ll transfer the call and disconnect us. So I told the store and asked to put me through to a manager at claims. A mean manager at claims. Anyway, sent in the same pics etc. and that was passed onto more managers. I wrote and said what have you decided I’ve waited long enough?! What’s the tracking number he said. Uh it’s right there sir in the subject line. At this point I’m getting angrier and angrier. Reverb didn’t help me btw. So the claims manager said well we don’t need the items sent back thank goodness because that’s a pain at the very least. Luckily, my buyer was nice anyway, they gave me back the whole amount. I couldn’t believe it and that’s why when I said to the manager at the claims dept did you decide yet? I got ignored. They lost money. Re reverb when a utuber sent me a sqooshed broken item that took months to get around the world. He didn’t pack it correctly. He didn’t insure it. He told me to take it up with the shipper. Only the seller can. Reverb did not protect me. They got me a partial refund. Why partial? Infuriated with reverb and shippers. Put fragile stuff on the bottom ffs. Now I’m too worried to ship anything after this fiasco. It took weeks of working on getting my buyer his money back. It’s not that simple. They make it difficult. Faxing and printing and doing it over and over hoping you give up. Denied and trying other ways. Furious. And reverb useless.

I have never used that site before and when I looked into it after seeing one of your posts, it looks really outdated and clunky and purchases can't be made through the site so if you're just an average seller like me (I buy and sell a few things a month but by no means do this for a living) and not a shop or a business, I'm weary of buying or collecting payments through some other site without knowing if G-Base will back me up like Reverb would.

    Got off Reverb in 2018. Just a horrible website to sell through. Hidden deceptive fees on international transactions through PayPal were the last straw. Reverb added themselves a slice of the currency conversion when PayPal had done the work. Once I refunded a customer because Reverb were taking too much money and Reverb had to refund $45 in hidden international currency conversion fees when they did nothing. It was a pure and simple scam.
    Reverb was always more than expected and customer service to fix their schmozzle was zero.

    I wonder if both EBay and Reverb are getting as greedy as they can while it lasts. After going through forums different posts on websites, people are very unhappy. And the number of people that are starting to feel resentment and bitterness is growing every day it seems.
    I was reading that EBay has already lost some big sellers and lots of sellers packed up shop and bounced. Because they felt they got screwed over doing business on eBay. Word spreads so many new sellers go elsewhere. Which is somewhat good because other alternative sites start springing up. And now reverb is starting to follow that same pattern of greed.
