I am wondering what is the factor or reason that causes the presence of number 1.11 in the law of reactance voltage for sinusoidal commutation in DC machines?
If we apply AC source at commutator, what will happen to the DC motor. I have motor of sewing machine, in which AC is apply to motor. So what is the purpose of commutator on rotor?

Armature me to ac hi flow karti hai..[converted by commutator]..... Lekin input me dc dete h. Dc series me koi fark nhi padta ac or dc supply ka both are same but in shunt and other types, dc is required for unidirectional torque.
Nothing happen motor will run in same direction..bt if we change either armature terminal or field terminal,then it will be operated in opposite direction

This is due to the form factor. For sinusoidal voltage, it is 1.11.

If I replace the input DC supply negative with positive.
What will happen then?
