I can't get it to do what it APPEARS to be doing here without metaphorically 'amputating my shoulder'. I put 'appears' in all-caps to emphasize how the motion blur and low frame rate make it IMPOSSIBLE to know how he do that 100% for sure, and trying to imitate what I'm seeing with my own staffsaber just leaves me confused because sometimes it goes from one position to another without a middle step, like he's doing a magician's sleight of hand to do a grip reversal with one hand so he can reset his forearm rotation, but since it's street magic or some such illusion it looks like the laws and rules of classical physics and kinesiology is being blatantly ignored. All I know is that what he's doing is impossible without doing a grip reversal at some point, or at least letting go and grabbing back ahold as it comes back the other way... but I'm not seeing it and I've even captured it and put it into VLC to do a frame by frame crawl and I can't spot how he's keeping his arms from twisting together like rope.

My dad always says that and he was excited when I showed his return in Clone Wars
Darth Maul was the only one cool character in the whole prequel trilogy.
@@mikrobi_3419 only a sith deals in absolutes
M.R Mikrobi yeah maul would have been a great character that would have added even more scare to the film
Very underrated martial artist who deserves more recognition for his skills and for being an all round good guy.
There must be one Keanu Reeves
What site lists reviews of martial artists? Have a seat.
Think of it like this, the more underrated he his, the more the community will cherish him and love him. The world doesn’t have to know how amazing he is, because we already know it.
Honestly is such an amazing martial artist like it takes years to master those kind of bow staff skills its not as easy as people think
Kyle Death you’re right it does, here’s another young martial artist that can do it....ua-cam.com/video/kbsWLnWfSpg/v-deo.html
I want the level of talent this man has for swinging lightsabers 😭
Ray Park amazingly talented, lovely guy too, needs more recognition. 👏👏👏👏☺️❤️
Fun fact: Ray Park was an extremely talented sign spinner before his role as Darth Maul
For real?
Lucas saw him spinning for Halloween Spirit dressed as Darth Vader and the rest is history
Ryan: Funny!!😀

As a gay dude, I say be whatever gender you feel like, but I'm sorry to inform you that none of us are Tonka trucks and other various inanimate and/or fictional characters, because "military drone" and "Japanese anime character trapped in a meat suit" are not genders nor are they a type of genital, it's just your role play fetish. And that's fine. But just know that the only reason people accept it on your documents when you say your gender is Mercedes-benz is because it's easier to say okay than to have you admit you're crazy. And they are. They put that on their documents then you meet their human boyfriend and realize they're just gay like you used to call yourself before shit got weird, and you're not allowed to question their sanity anymore.
@@harleyjackson3708 but gay isnt a gender,

I remember meeting ray park at palm springs comic con of 2018. Luckily, nobody was in line so i got to fully meet & talk to him for about 5 minutes. He even gave me a signed darth maul keychain with his name on it, he was the nicest dude playing the most badass sith ever

I see he's still keeping himself in great shape and looks 15 years younger than his actual age. An inspiration to being dedicated to fitness and taking care of yourself.
I was gonna say, he's looking a bit less limber these days but still doing alright!

Good luck. You're talking to Star Wars fans.
I assume that means he's in his 30s because he could easily pass for like 25
I'm surprised he didn't start hovering and fly away how fast he was spinning the lightsaber.

The double lightsaber was based on the Japanese series "Spielvan" (1986) which was released for "VR Troopers" in the USA between 1994-1996.
This dude was legit. His next role should be sitting down behind a desk in the background.
Gee... I guess it CAN be used as a real weapon.
Yes, they're extremely useful for speed and damage. Very hard to parry multiple attacks coming very fast
not really, if your oponent just stops one attack during a spin, your whole momentum dies.
there is a reason for why BOjutsu is more similar to spear fighting and barely has any actual spining
The spinning stuff is mostly used for coordination drilling and grip strength. And i do it because it's fun and can be done even on days you are sore cause it's not that hard of an workout.
Anything can be a real weapon if used correctly
A double sided lightsaber is just a monkey's stick but you can only touch the middle of the pole. Imagine Shaolin monks with this technology, we would have had all sorts of insane techniques by now.
They had to kill Darth Maul quick, or he would have completely overshadowed everyone else in the trilogy including Annakin and the Emperor.

@@conrad_TK421 I saw what you did there... 😉
"I'll try spinning, that's a good trick!"
@@conrad_TK421 yeah, I tried that too but without a high speed camera it's still impossible to sus out exactly how he is doing it because I'm seeing things that shouldn't be possible. Like there's a couple times where it appears that the blade is passing under his armpit, but how it got room at that angle? I own a Darth Maul staffsaber and I'm a big guy, 6'4" with long arms and I can do the behind the back and overhead one handed tricks, but the two handed propeller spin?
The coolest, most badass character to have died prematurely in Star Wars!😢
That's probably why they asked him to motion capture Maul when they made The Clone Wars finale.
