  • Matrix 4 wheel trolley review, is it worth the money and potential problems or should you look elsewhere to get your gear to the peg, a good 4 wheel option that does the job but there is room for improvement.

Fair play on a honest review 👍🏻👍🏻 I had the same tipping issue with the MAP barrow every time I took my box on and off. However I now have the October D25 and wheel system for me it’s a million time better than a separate trolly 👍🏻👍🏻

Great informative video as always 👍. I like you went from the Preston 2 wheel trolley but to the MAP 4 wheel barrow instead of the Matrix version. Simply can't fault it at the moment but you definitely need to put your seat box on first the same as you mentioned

Had mine nearly 3 years, had issue with wheels coming loose in beginning, threadlocked them and not had any issue since, I have to break it all down and build up every session, other than that a sturdy piece of kit

@@jamesstridgen6320 On the market there are a number of products that you apply to the threads of the fixings that prevent thenm working loose when in use,Loctite is one,but there are others, buy the semi permanent kind, just in case you have to break it down,a other tip is only apply to first 5 or 6 threads, as this will screw down, better,in my opinion, hope this helps

Build quality for mine is not good, a couple handwheels have broke. Welds have snapped and box section areas split.
So now I don't have a place for the vertical retaining piece as my front wheels now go into them.
One of the handwheels you tighten to hold the handles in place broke so had to drill through and use a wingnut and bolt.
Otherwise the size is ideal, I like you can alter the height of the handles and both the carry bag and trolley bag are decent hard-wearing.
I've yet to find a really good match trolley, would still be using my carp porter if I had a van.

The build quality just let's it down but like you say size wise and adjustability it's great.

    I own one…
Good Points: 3 pieces essentially, wheels, base and handles. Turn the base upside down and slide wheel struts front to back and never the other way. You must tighten the screws really tight and you’ll be fine. Use the base extension facilities both width and length before loading and you can get loads on it.
Negatives: Load at the front end first otherwise it will topple backwards. If you carry straps take them out of the bag at the back before loading as a nightmare to access after. Attach the straps to the designated hook rings on one side first before loading otherwise it’s a nightmare trying to locate them after loading. In windy conditions turn your trolley on its side after off loading as the bag acts as a sail and it will end up in the lake. It doesn’t come with spare knobs. You have to shrink the base down to it’s minimum settings to get it back in the holdall. The holdall was designed by a blind Irishman ref handles. Those who one will know what I mean.
Still think it’s a great trolley though and would buy another.

Every single one has front wheels that are not on straight … the Chinese sweatshop where they are made obviously cannot be arsed resetting the welding jig. I bought mine from AD on line and was so disappointed with the quality that I took it straight back to the local AD shop. They didn’t really want to take it back until pointed out that I didn’t even need a reason to return things bought on line. They also claimed they had had no other complaints about them …. Really 🤔

Shame you didn’t put the XR36 comp on the trolley as H frames are a bit iffy on trolleys without adaptors 🎣

The MAP barrow is a 100% better than the Matrix one. It has the same issue with if you put a bag in the bag under the handles it will tip up. However the rest is amazing. I have also got the XXL Bag on the front which is so usefull. I got the Matrix Pro36 box which is superb and fits on the MAP barrow. Great video though

I've had this barrow nearly three years ,and apart from it being a nightmare to put back in the bag ,
    I've not had any problems...
I've had a maver , map ,etc, and all these have eventually snapped.
I have tons of gear ,and never feel it is gonna snap...
Great bit of kit in my opinion,
    I have tried others..

I have a Matrix barrow as reviewed and I think it's absolute crap. The build quality is awful, the wheels don't go on straight and the handle on mine doesn't line up because it has been welded out of true. When loaded the whole thing flexes in use because the metal used is so thin. Went back to using my old barrow and will sell the Matrix one.

    • @fivefive555

    Matrix Trolley.
The Box section that holds the wheel axle, perpendicular to the trolley frame is much too weak, and from what I have seen is prone to bending out.
    The Map Trolley
The Bag at the back is too long and can drag against the ground causing it to prematurly wear out.
Suffers from all of the same problems as the Matrix.
Above is just my own personal observations of the Matrix and Map trollies where they have been used by anglers that fish natural venues.
I have a 4 wheel preston shuttle, which apart from changing the wheel bearings occasionally has worked really well.
I have fitted the Matrix lbarrow bag onto my Shuttle (not my idea)and it works a treat, because lets face facts the Preston Shuttle bag, is quite XXXX the water proffing perishes the stitches come undone in the first season.
