His brother is Michael Neill, Emeritus professor of English literature and HOD of Auckland University's English department for many years. Michael's specialist subject is Elizabethan and Jacobean drama and his lectures were a wonder to attend apparently. Michael also acted - playing King Lear before he left New Zealand for Europe. Those Neill boys from the Tairei plains, both Canterbury University alumni (I believe) did well for themselves- but Sammy, maybe you just pipped Michael at the post in the acting stakes 😁
I love sam. One of my favourite actors. Seems like a great guy. And he ages so well. He looks good. I always like to listen to anything he has to say. Im looking forward to seeing dr grant in jurassic world 3.🦖
John Clarke is a total kak :)) Particularly with you, Sam, together in Death in Brunswick, one of the funniest Australian movie 'capers'. Set in the inner Melbourne suburbs sometime in the mid 80's (I think). If you haven't ever seen it you are missing out. I'd be interested to see any other material that you have worked on together, film or otherwise.
What a great story? I would love to know the book title behind him. It looks like, "Understanding the...." I can't see the other word. Anyone know? My brother is 18 months older than me. He was great at everything artistic. Me? I was a late bloomer in everything. I became artistic in later years. Course maybe I learned it from watching him. Lol. I was taller than him for years. "So how's the weather down there Tom." Lol. I could rest my arm on his shoulder. Then one summer between high school summer break and without notice he shot up taller than me. Lol. It was his turn to tease me about being shorter. Thanks for the story Sam!
No, John Clarke died about 3 years (9 April 2017) prior and Sam and John very very good friends. It was very unexpected. Those are tears he trying to hold back during the reading. I am massive fan of Clarke including his poetry and I know I was tearing up.
He does. The recent thing about his dropping his personal privacy to be a bit more of a media figure hasn't extended to his wider family, I think for the best.

What a lovely memory to have!
Sam Neill: the classiest, humblest and most wholesome actor in the business. Severely under-recognized and under-appreciated.
To be fair, that the way he wants it.
It means so much to have a family .
I don't have a family but I have these beautiful videos.
Humble man my favorite actor such a good guy.
I love you Sam neill ♥

Do you have grandchildren, Sam? You need them…xx.
