Him imitating her accent briefly was great. Like you said in your community note, I don't think personality-wise they really work together as a romance, but the whole "all he's known for 200 years is sex and she can't be touched" angle is great.
@@quantumpop1170 Yeah but you need to take into account that this moment considering is in act 1 was a manipulation tactic so maybe he's frustrated he couldn't sleep with her out of manipulation. Or maybe he is frustrated. He couldn't do the usual thing that would get him some form of trust from the other So it kind of forces him to face some realities. He's currently not addressing yet but he eventually does address 200 years of trauma is hard to curb and hard to identify. Learning to identify your triggers is definitely one of those things that you have to understand about yourself and astarion eventually learns this depending on how you guide the conversations
I actually don't think he wanted to sleep with anyone in this scene; he considered it only as a kind of job ... But yeah he's frustrated because like he said he literally doesn't know what else to do
I’m a little jealous of Karlach, Astarion is like 20% sweeter towards her, which begs the question, can one romance Astarion without sleeping with him?
@@CaliGirl_nj well, of course it's supposed for new players who don't know anything about his background. But I wished this option for my character, as an alternative, so the players could decide for themselves
Maybe it's a good thing for astarian to be paired off with karlach He technically can't be physically touched and touch has been used against him among other mental and physical things that were hurtful.
Personally I would love to see him paired with a sex favorable or neutral ace. That way he could still experiment with physical intimacy but wouldn't have to worry about meeting his partner's needs. He seems to love kissing, it would be a shame to deny him that. I feel like the moments that are the most healing for him in this respect, are the moments when you ask him what he wants and he gets to decide. As an ace person myself I really want the option to tell him that all I am getting out of being physical is the compersion from his pleasure, so if he's not enjoying it I don't either. For my sake and for his.
@@mattybrunolucaszeneresalas9072 compersion is when you feel an echo of someone's positive emotions, almost as it those were your own emotions. Kinda like the positive emotion equivalent of compassion. And I don't care if it wasn't meant to be that deep. I'll make it as deep as I want to, because I do think there is something worth discussing here. If you don't want to get into a deep discussion you can ignore me, maybe someone else wants to join in. This is the internet, I am aware that 99% of the time I am just screaming into the void. But it's worth it for that one percent when people listen and reply.
@@melinnamba I’ve never heard of that word before. Is it a neologism? What do you mean it’s a positive version of compassion? Could you be more specific? Give me an example.
@mattybrunolucaszeneresalas9072 it seems to be really common in the polyamory scene. I don't know when it was coined. Compersion is one of those words that when I first heard an explanation it just made sense to me, because it gave a term to describe something I experience quite strongly, so I am not sure if I will be able to explain it any better. But I'll try. Have you ever seen someone happy and that made you happy in return? You know, just being happy because they are happy? For me that happens a lot when I am giving gifts and the recipient enjoys it. It feels like I got a gift myself. It can happen with all sorts of emotions. Joy, excitement, pleasure. If someone is visibly enjoying a meal, it gives me that same feeling of enjoying a good meal, even if I find the dish absolutely disgusting myself. Compassion is basically empathy with negative emotions and compersion is empathy with positive emotions. We tend to be more aware of this phenomenon with negative emotions. Like people talk about how seeing someone cry makes them wanna cry, or that they get anxious from watching someone express anxiety by pacing or bouncing their leg. That's compassion, or at least how I am used to using that word. Compersion is the same with positive emotions. So the version of empathy with positive emotions.

this is so much sweeter than the original imo
That's why it should be an option for every playthrough :/
He definitely seems frustrated that he can’t do his routine but he also seems genuine in wanting to sleep with her

I could write an entire essay on why these two are perfect together I ship them SO hard ❤️

Unfortunately, no 🥺 you're bound in this case on only one choice if you want to romance him ... (I feel so forced by it ://)
@ I do feel terrible hooking up with him knowing his past, but at the same time, I also know it’s the only way he feels like he’s in control :-/

Forbidden fruit. More like forbidden cake.
