जनाब,आपके विचार का सम्मान है किन्तु आपके विचार से मैं सहमत नहीं।अन्तिम दौर में पंचम ने मजबूरी वश रफी साहब से गीत गवाए जब उसे लगा कि गीत को कोई दूसरा नहीं गा सकता है।हर गायक की अपनी सीमाएं थी किन्तु रफी साहब पर यह बात लागू नहीं होती।आप रफी साहब द्वारा गाए गीतों की विविधता पर वीडियो बनाइए और बताइए कि उनके गायन की सीमा क्या थी।

Disagree, the songs that were rejected by kishor were given to Rafi. Yamma Yamma song was first offered to kishor but it was on high pitch so he refused. Then R. D sahab moved to Rafi sahab. If R. D sahab had an idea that Yamma Yamma will definitely be rejected by Kishor ji due to high notes then why did he ask him first?

This man has forgotten that Aradhana songs were supposed to be sung by Mohammed Rafi Sahab when S D Burman was the music director but when RD Burman took over , he gave the remaining songs to Kishore Kumar which were supposed to be sung by Rafi Sahab and l am sure that Rafi Sahab would have sung the songs extremely wonderfully, although l have great respect for Kishore Kumar who was a great singer as well but Rafi Sahab was Rafi Sahab and according to me the greatest singer of all time.🙏🙏🙏

No meter what people say, the truth is that all the best of R D Burman´s composition was sung by Kishor Kumar. The quality of both legend singers voices are unbeatable. People always say Rafi sahab was best, some say, Kishor da was best. The reality is that both were best. It only depends on what kind of songs the listeners like. If you like the songs that Rafi sahab sang most, then for you he is the best. Same goes for Kishor da.

But it's true - music directors also mould the song for a particular singer. With RD B , KK was first choice ( it was a group). But do not forget- his father SD Burman, had only Rafi saab in Guide film. But still in Guide one song was sung by KK. Rafi SJ, Shammi was a group also. Bottom line- Rafi had no match- versatility par excellence. Classical to hip hop.

All well known Music directors of the Golden era - Shankar- Jaikishan, Naushad, S D Burman, Madan Mohan, Ravi, O P Nayyar, Laxmi- Pyare, Kalyanji Anandji etc, including R D Burman(Teesri Manzil, Pyaar la Mausam, Abhilasha etc)have used Mohd Rafi Saab as their lead singer, for a majority of their songs. Just because the 'Phenomenon' wanted a fresh voice to promote his Super Star status, and he chose Kishore Kumar as his preferred voice, KK got a well deserved push up to the top rank as the 'Voice' of the biggest superstar, the Indian film Industry has known, in the early 1970s. This however was an extremely brief period where the fall of the phenomenon and the burning out of RD's musical genius coincided. This brought Rafi Saab to the forefront once again with songs like Teri Galiyon Me, songs from Laila Majnu, Amar Akbar Anthony etc. Kishore being a good singer continued to sing, and after the demise of Mukesh, and RafiSaab (31/07/1980) acquired the maximum number of Filmfare awards for the best singer. In short, Kishore never ever surpassed RafiSaab in the quality of singing, as implied in some comments above

After the success of Teesri Manzil,RDB usually avoided Rafi sahib. He only gave those songs under dire circumstances. Such as, if pressurised by the leading artists, or by the producer, or if the song was not of any importance and lastly if the song was beyond the range of his favourites.There are many examples. One example is the title song of KUDRAT. He got it recorded by C S Gadgil first and then on the persuasion of Chetan Anand, the producer, he got it recorded with Rafi sahib,

@@ayubbadri9989 That happens with all in film industry. It's a ruthless competition there. When Rafi came, Mukesh, KK, Talat, Mah.Kapoor all got shadowed(1950-70). Only latter KK picked up, Rafi got less songs . Again choice of actors,producers was important. RD also faded out later and was ignored. With new singers, KK also became less popular in last few years. That's how it is. Still, the quality(range) of voice of Rafi remains unmatched till date. KK was a great performer with limits fixed and understood by music directors. With Rafi, that was not a problem. Rafi has done excellent yodeling songs.

There is no doubt that RD Burman preferred only Kishore Kumar - Further, RD Burman made Rafi Sahab sing mostly only for Nassir Hussein films like Teesri Manzil, Hum Kissi Se kam nahi, Caravan, Pyar Ka Mausam etc. This is the truth. Yes, SD Burman used Rafi Sahab intensively - not RD Burman. When you remove people out of job because of nepotism, then you are without job.
Anandji in an interview stated that all us youngsters, RD, LP and us, KA would go to Dada Burman for help in refining our compositions and taking tips on how to make them better and appealing. Dada would mould our tunes and suggest orchestration and even singers. Period. No one ever made any tunes for Dada. He was far superior and a respected senior who was always a hit inspite of all youngsters or others.

It is always biased views when one singer is compared with others , Kishore Kumar was not a less versatile singer, he was one man Industry He was not a singer only he was Actor, Director, Music Director, lyricist, Producer, Comedian and what not. He faced lot of humiliation from film Industry, There are many songs of RD and Rafi Sahib which were Great numbers Teesri Manzil, Carvan , Hum kisi se kam Nahin, Abhilasha etc.

In spite of RDB partial behaviour and biased approach towards Rafi , he stood his ground and gave unmatched songs because of his gifted voice and his ability to sing every type of song for any situation and for any actor. SDB used to treat Kishore as his second son and he helped him immensly to build Kishor shattered carrear and later on his son moved on the dotted line and he side tracked Rafi until he found some compelling ground for his assignments with Rafi either In the form of Kishore inability to do justice with the song or actor/ producer choice..

It did not matter whether R D Burman ji preferred Mohammad Rafi Sahab or not . There were many great and superior music directors who loved the voice of Mohammad Rafi sahab , For example : Shankar Jaikishan ji , Madan Mohan ji , Naushad sahab , O P Nayyar sahab , Ravi sahab , Sachin Dev Burman ji , LAKSHMIKANT PYARELAL ji et el. They all almost invariably opted for Rafi sahab. R D Burman was on top from 1970 to 1975. After 1975 , the career of Rajesh Khanna ji an R D Burman ji went on a downslide. In 1976 , Rafi sahab made a great comeback with Laila Majnu film song under madan Mohan Sahab's composition. R D Burman ji was overshadowed by Lakshmikant Pyarelal ji . R D Burman ji then sought shelter from Rafi sahab. After the death of Rafi sahab in 1980 , R D Burman ji was almost without work. The film industry just ignored nd forgot him. Time dictates the destiny.

RD Burman's strategy was nasty! He used Mohammed Rafi to become the No 1 MD then changed tak. He used Kishore Kumar whom he was related to carry on and have a truly great career. His music was pretty damn amazing really but as a person he was just strategic I would say. So Kishore Kumar was kind of loosing his one track pony trick so gradually RD Burman used Mohammed Rafi. However what is quite amazing is that if you hear the music for the Rafi songs its quite toned down as opposed to the loud fast peppy music for Kishore Kumar. But Rafi sahab when he sung for RD Burman sung a lot better than for the other MDs as to probably indicate what RD Burman had lost not using him and it was kind of a sweet revenge really. Now i feel Rafi was at the very least 3 times better than Kishore Kumar. I remember as a kid getting excited listening to Rafi sahabs voice which was clearer in the 80s than in the 50s or 60s!! But I am just speculating here but Asha Bhosle the wife of RD Burman did not like Mohammed Rafi and there are egs of this in her interviews. So I feel RD Burman didnt use Rafi sahab because of his wifes pressure. But in this world of injustices i feel justice was served. Look at how Mohammed Rafi Sahab died - A holiday in India the Whole country in MOURNING. All the Actors who had dumped him for the blue eyed boy of bollywood singing Kishore Kumar used Rafi Sahab with their tails tucked between their legs. Rajesh Khanna, Dev Anand included and then we look at RD Burman who died basically ignominiously. Great MD no doubt the best ever in Bollywood history but there is NO doubting that he really did try to destroy Mohammed Rafi but only really destroyed himself.
No body can forget RD Burman...he has given a lot to the music world..had he been alive..can u imagine what he would have done with today's advanced technology...

One should always remember...music directors,their arrangers n lyricist play the most important role...in making a song hit..it was Rafi saheb who was heard saying the same in one of his rarest interviews..he admitted.."Bina inke guidance ke hit number koi kaise de Sakta hai?...he always respected n admired the work of these persons n was equally respected by them...when we talk about a hit song the name of lyricist n music director is also remembered...Rafi saheb was very true in his speaking....that's why ...the greats of our music world called him as..a masiha...Bhagwan ke aadmi...He always appreciated the work of music directors which is the right thing to do for every singer...that's why singers...music directors...lyricists..r equally important.....

RDB got what he deserved. All he did was create the Bengali group just like there was a Punjabi group. He thought with a mediocre singer like Kishore he will continue for long.....it doesn't happen like it.
The only reason he got Rafi to sing was due to Director/Producer pressure....just like Aamir Khan pressured Pritam to get Sonu Nigam sing for Lal Singh Chaddha.
Hardly a fan of RDB music of 70's....80's were still be better. I would rather spend my precious time listening to Madan Mohan, the underrated gem.
