I've been an Indie artist for 9 years now and hearing yall's advice lets me know that I'm on the right path in my journey right now. Lovey thanks for stopping by and checking us out, Can we ask you a few questions? in the 9 years you've been doing music, whats the biggest difference today from when you started? How much easier is it or more difficult is it to reach your fans? Do you see yourself doing this 9 more years?
@@TheCheatCodePodcast No problem! I love this question, I think the biggest difference from when I started to now is I am much more consistent with releasing, and marketing my music and brand. I use to try to cut corners to save money and would end up with low quality work. I had to stop being scared to invest my money in my music and not compare or copy the big artist. Once I got really serious everything started align for me, now I’m on my way SXSW as an official artist next week 🥹🥹🥹
Its easier now because I have a real strategy and I’m not all over the place when executing my music but still challenging because I don’t have a full team or management (yet) and I’m starting to gain bigger opportunities.

I’m so glad y’all explained the difference between a publishing deal and an admin deal, especially as it pertains to ownership. An admin deal is DEFINITELY more attractive b/c I’d much rather give up a small percentage of my profit than ANY of my ownership. I also love what y’all said about building meaningful relationships with DJs, not simply on a need basis or trying to clout chase. Thank y’all once again for the priceless gems 💎💎💎💎💎 and I love how y’all get me so pumped for Wednesdays outside of releasing my own content 💪🏾💪🏾!!!

The breakdown of the music business and how companies actually make money was eye opening. Even the last chapters about tips for building that regional success lit a fire under me. Any more suggestions for reading is always appreciated!

How do I become a road manger any books I should look into
A good road manager has relationships, Is resourceful, and looks for the source. Going into a city is less about whats in a book and more about whats in you. Are you bold? Are you a social person? Are you researching venues, city ordinances, open carry laws, Local trends, Figuring out ways to save money? Plugging in with studios? Producers? Djs? Media? Planning is your best friend. Write it down, apple logic, sprinkle in common sense, add a splash of determination and you will make an amazing road manager.

I highly doubt drake is reaching out and communicating with lower level producers especially when he can just exclusively buy whatever beat he likes from their website just using someone’s best isn’t working with them you work with the engineer that’s recording mixing and mastering
