      Tornadoes can be fairly precise. My house has aluminum awnings above each southern facing window. We had an F-3 tornado in 1982 that took all three awnings but did no other damage to the house. We never did find the awnings. It also hit a neighbor’s 30 foot tall maple tree and twisted it. It left the tree standing but spiraled all of the branches around the trunk.

    • @ForgivingDragon

      @@Rac3r4Life I recognize now that I was trying to show truth to a mocker. When the day comes that you recognize that you have or know nothing, know that you may humble yourself before God and he still will accept you into his flock. As you may have heard mentioned, John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
      I apologize for my hastiness and lashing out in response, nonetheless.

Outside it was deep though, enough that I had to swim in a few places. some people were floating around on surfboards and little boats, a canoe.... We had just got new carpet a few days before, it was dark blue with a lot of padding, soft and luxurious...but then after the flood the jerk replaced it with the cheapest ugliest uncomfortable yellowish monstrosity he could find...
      Dammit every time I happily reminisce about this that damn carpet rears it's ugly head... It was supposedly shag carpeting which was the fad then, so each little piece of the shag was really long...kinda looks cool when there is alot per square inch, really thick... • @NovaDust94
      @NovaDust94 Місяць тому +46

      Kansan here. There’s a few reasons we stand outside during thunderstorm and tornado season. 1. No one will tell you where the tornados at, until AFTER it hits something. Which means something is getting hit first, and we need to know if it’s gonna be us. I was taught as a child what to look out for in the clouds to know if there’s a chance of tornadoes. 2. Where’s there’s one tornado, there can most definitely be two or more. I would very much like to know if there’s more than one. 3. To see which direction it’s headed. And for all who may not know, if a tornado looks like it isn’t moving, it’s headed straight towards you. Now for more tornado knowledge. NEVER get inside of your car. Find a ditch or lay low on the ground. Your car is an umbrella in the wind to a tornado. Most tornadoes move 10-20mph, they can get up to 60mph. Most tornadoes are very difficult to see, they are usually in the middle of heavy thunderstorms. So how do you see it in a heavy thunderstorm? Look for small flashes of light near the ground. And a constant thundery rumble. If you see the lights and hear the rumble, you got a tornado. If you’re not in the rain and you can see the clouds, you’re looking for clouds moving in different directions, not spaced far apart. Thats called rotation, and it’s what breeds tornadoes. Not all rotation leads to tornadoes. In fact few do, but a tornado requires rotation to get it started.

      This is normal in Tornado Alley states. Everybody, including myself, does this. When the tornado comes your way or gets closer then you dash to the basement.

    • @lkj974
      @lkj974 17 днів тому

      small doesn't mean weak. Not a perfect correlation between size and intensity. It blew up a house. It wasn't a weak tornado. In Canada a few years ago a "small" tornado meandered through a town, everyone was out watching it and taking pictures. It was tentatively classified as F1 based on size. Than they noticed that it picked up an entire brick bungalow and pulled it up a hundred feet or more in the air just whirling it around the center vortice. And we thought the Wizard of Oz was pure fantasy!

    • @ArchTeryx00
      @ArchTeryx00 8 днів тому

      Small tornadoes can be STRONGER than bigger ones. This one was essentially a single "suction vortex" - bigger ones may have many of them. Suction vortices are where most of the power of a tornado is concentrated. A little drillbit like this one can do incredible damage and in a wildly unpredictable path. Small =/= weak!
      Depending on how well built the house was that it biew up, that could easily be an EF3 or EF4 tornado. The Pampa, TX tornado was small for much of its life, too, and it did high end EF4 damage with an incredible cloud of debris.

    • @ArchTeryx00
      @ArchTeryx00 8 днів тому

      That tornado is Canada's only F5, and it was on the strength of that single area. Picking a well built house wholly off its foundation, lifting it hundreds of feet and then shredding it is F5 behavior. And it achieved F5 damage while it was *roping out.* Small tornadoes can be incredibly dangerous.
