Hi Steve, I don't know if you check your comments, but I just want to say I remember watching you in high school, unaware I'd be doing a degree in horn, and now I'm about to finish up and will be performing this on my recital. Coming back to your videos after so long is kind of funny and nostalgic. Thanks for doing what you do.
It is a Rittich style wood veneer mute. I have had it for years and don't remember who made it. It doesn't say on the mute. It is very thin and very responsive.
I have a question, I know this is unrelated to this piece ( which is by the way absolutely amazing), I have a lot of trouble practicing in the morning, and can only do it in the evening. Any advice for that?
Who is (or what - sorry it sound s a bit mechanical) is playing the piano? Horn is absolutely beautifully done! (But would be better with a different partner...)
Love this song! Hey I am taking lessons from Suanne Adams and she said that you were friends and brought up one of your videos so I was wondering which University you taught at? email me back.
No "wax on, wax off" for that, you just have to do it more, its like lip trilling, the more you do it, the better it gets. Also you could try doing some long tones for a bit, don't just jump right in to playing, warm up first :D hope I helped

When ever I dont want to practice, i just watch your videos. Your sound is so rich and full. I envy you for it, and it motivates me to practice.
So that's how you do everything you do. THERE'S TWO OF YOU! Beautiful playing. Thanks. ~Val
So glad that there are new hornists emerging and that you see the quality of Steve's playing and the beauty of the horn!
Steve is my goat
Thank you Steve for your wonderful playing and for motivating me to take my playing and teaching to the next level. God Bless You!
you made your own twin yourself! AWESOME!!!
Sublime.
I need to buy this now!!!
Awesome, Steve! Well done.
Great!
Amazing!
Very nice!
Love it!!!
This horn is a Holton 276 "Merker" with a bronze bell. It is among the best horns I have ever played.
just bought it :)
Stunning and just plain gorgeous. You make it look like a walk in the park. (no pun intended, honest :) )
Steve - you just get better and better. Love your videos :-)
You inspire me sooooo much!
wonderful !!
3:57 What type of mute is being used here? It sounds really metallic, but unlike a metal strait mute, and certainly not stopped.

I had the same problem, however, I solved it by practising in the morning. Always just do, what you can't do ;-)
Now I prefer playing in the morning.
Thanks!

What's the range on this song??
Eb2 to F5 in concert pitch for first part. Dunno about second. (For horn its a low Bb to a high C)
Hey, i was wondering if you could play Un Diario Español, Página 92 for two horns? please :) thank you
How do you make your stop horn sound so rich?
A little late, but a lot of air
Cat Swag just slightly late
I know this has been asked before, but what kind of horn are you playin on?
