Under the baton of Music Director Paavo Järvi the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich interprets Piotr I. Tchaikovsky's fantasy-overture «Romeo and Juliet» - a foretaste of their newest recording featuring the composer's complete orchestral work. A recording from the Tonhalle Maag in Zurich.
Setting Romeo and Juliet's famously star-crossed love to music did not exactly prove to be a romantic task to tackle, neither was it Tchaikovsky's choice in the first place. It took several attempts to detach himself from his mentor Balakirev and develop his own indistinguishable tone. The way his fantasy-overture ultimately succeeds at dividing and combining Shakespeare's beloved characters whilst pulling at the listener's heartstrings earns it the title of Tchaikovsky's first major Masterpiece. Moreover, what would Pop culture be without its famous love theme?

Weltklasse! Bravissimo
sehr berührend und wunderschön gespielt! vielen dank 💕✨
this the most insane love song ever
its timeless , the most phenomenal work of Tchaikovsky
The most ecstatic piece ever composed and the theme is not surprising: the eternal love of Romeo an Julia, which Shakespeare so brilliantly expressed by prose and Thchaikovsky by music...
At 80 years, full of pain, the mystery , for me, of why so long, et, then as I sit here listening to the great Tchaikovsky...Romeo & Juliet, the pain, mental strain subsides . Well, I do know why all things happen in the one true main sense, from Christ the Almighty. I am saying helps come from Another and I am so grateful.
This wonderful performance Ìs a gift to Shakespeare lovers
FABULOUS orquesta and one of the best video, the Camera man new how to get every musician on their solos and entrances. BRAVO.
Tchaikovsky is the greatest of them because of his astounding versatility. Symphonies, concertos, opera, choral, chamber, stand alone masterworks like Capriccio Italien, one of the first great song writers (None But the Lonely Heart) and, of course, ballet.
Perfect tempo and expression. Of course Tchaikovsky's is the music of passion - anger and the tears of love.
gotta LOVE the woodwind ensemble!!!!
Tchaikovsky was the master of drama and tragedy in music.
Weekend is here fans, let's invite everybody enjoy music happenings, visit Switzerland for the occasion or...just enjoying a concert nearby, let them musicians entertain you some more & let good vibes prevail, we need just music to unite us and stop all war disputes once for all, thank you sharing guys ❤🎉❤
