LOL!! In every hundredth kit , sprinkled through the product line. Some humorous, funny , great picture of a Flite Test moment, staff having a laff, " I meant to do that" moments. , Kinda like a FliteTest trading card series just four or five funny pictures sprinkled every hundredth model, or power pack or? Flite Test Gemini capsule Rogallo wing vehicles.
Having built 35 of the Gymallo kits from "Bob's Little Airplane company" I can tell you that the open spread of the wing spars is 109 degrees, and the closed angle is 100 degrees. The pylon has a top angle of 10 degrees, and the wing cross spar is located 42 percent of the length of the center spar of the wing. All 3 of the wing spars are the same length.. example: 24 inch spars, 109 degrees open angle to adhere the covering to the spars, 100 degree angle of the outer spars when the cross spar is attached, and the cross spar is 10 inches back. Tyvek makes the best material for flight, with rip stop kite material a close second. smooth coverings adversely affect the flight performance.
Hey thank you for sharing. Is there any link online about the measurements you mentioned online? I tried to draw one but can't quite work out which is which above 😀😀
I remember years ago when the channel first started that the 2 Josh's built the 'Twin Twirl' auto gyro that flew surprisingly well and only had a throttle, rudder and elevator control. Pity that it is no longer in the Flite Test portfolio. Hard to believe that it's from 11 years ago!
Brilliant, the big builds are great, but this is you guys at your best. Builds like this are achievable for most of us and are inspiring. Watching your early videos brought me back to the hobby, and using inexpensive materials like foam board has let me experiment without breaking the bank.
11:29. That's why I love foam board rc planes. Even if that plane hadn't survived that "landing" it's no big deal... salvage the electronics and build another one. 😎
At 10:18 in the video. I think the reason it wont turn right is because you are steering it with the propeller. Look up "P factor" and the effect it has on tail dragger aircraft. It creates asymmetric thrust. You appear to experiencing this phenomena in the horizontal as opposed to the vertical as you are moving the propeller disk from left to right and not up and down.
One of my favorite aircraft of all time was the slow poke/ sportster design. Fantastic floating aircraft design, its wing loading was so good at idle it would still fly around just fine, its only downside was the roll rates were slow.
I was such a big fan of the FT Speedster back in the day and frankly the FT Sportster was just as cool looking. It'll be such a blast to see a V3 of some sort in the near future. #bringwheelthepantsback
This would make the coolest flying boat/ship like thing. I picture an old pirate ship with 2 forward motors for yaws & an oversized trailing tail rutter just for looks.
Yes to one in every kit. Might I suggest you also make a Flite Test Baseball card set. And put one in each plane. You could have your FT team profiles and also famous flyers of the past. Maybe a line of favorite aircraft.
You guys are the greatest I absolutely enjoy your videos so much! I've been flying for a year and a half self-taught and I have the attitude of flying anything I can get in the air. I fly park flyers all under 800 mm wingspan anywhere I can safely fly them and most of my planes are uglyfide. If I have to hold the elevator slightly back to keep it flying level let it fly! Haha on a serious note I can fly patterns and circles all day long very easily most of my crashes have come trying to fly inverted lol. But after getting real flight Sim I have learned to fly inverted very well. Sometimes I even visit the local airfield on very windy days while the old guys sit at the picnic tables staring at empty skies I even dare to use safe and fly around and enjoy watching the planes get blown around lol keep up the great work you guys are truly an inspiration. It's nice to know a plane can have multiple bandages and glue wear glue shouldn't be and still enjoyed.
Two things you haven't visited yet for flute test. 1:) The BMX bike from E.T. and 2:) The Delorean from Back to the Future. I think you should explore more movie and TV show vehicles that fly or hover. Loved the new uploads ❤ P.S. Maybe do a Temu flite test build off
I’ve got a challenge for Flite Test: Make a homebuilt sportster ultralight, that can be built for under 2 thousand dollars. This would make full scale aviation so affordable that almost anyone can afford it.
Awesum episode, regarding gap-filling with cyanoacrylate baking soda you can use it to fill gaps or build up a fill it or just make cool stuff. And you can't beat the price.
After finding your guys' channel a couple of months ago,,, I am broke! 😂😅 I have RC planes though? ❤🙏🏻👊🏻Thank you guys for bringing so many smiles to our dials! Love this team!
As always, great video guys! You're my favorite UA-cam channel! What would be the chances of you doing a build video on your carbon arrow shaft slow stick? I've printed all of the parts and need some guidance on the build.
Thank you to flite test for getting me into this Wonderful hobby of rc planes. Before yall it was expensive to fly planes cause ypu had to either build a 600 dollar plus balsa plane or a foam plane that came from eflite and if you crash it your out of 500 bucks. But tha ks to yall you made it easy to build a sinple foam board plane that you can learn to fly with out fear of crashing a expensive plane and can learn on your own in real life and no need for a simulator i have been flying for 10 years now and love it and i still build and fly yalls planes my all time fav is the sportster and the simple cub, explorer
I'd like to see a bigger version (X2 size at least). How about reinventing H-Gs by going for a wider tube angle? 100 degrees instead of 80? Best wishes from London UK.
Or at least bring back the plywood parts for some of the older models that aren't on the store. That way, people can still scratch build the planes like the twin sparrow or ft dart with ease. And not have to worry about parts like the motor mounts that they have on those that are a little difficult to do right.
Built my first Rogallo " Hang Glider" out of bamboo that came out of the Carpets mom and Dad bought. Ran down the hill ,up the ladder ,with a picnic table for the launch. Beat the Wright Brothers by 200 feet. I have one of the old "Wing Thing " powered by an 0.49 Cox motor. Recreated it into Electric powered R/C . A lot of funny comments when I fly it. Keep up the great video's. Arrgh. Capt Morgan. Bft .SC.
Hi guys, i really love your channel, i have a question, is it possible to build a horse-shaped aircraft with flapping wings? If it is will it be able to fly?
Yes one of those in every hundred kits would be awesome!!
Yes

I've really enjoyed watching FliteTest grow into a huge success story. You guys really took off! Sorry, couldn't resist. 😁
Love Josh’s test for a marketable kit, “Hey, they’re still in one piece”
😂😂
XL Sportster = big yes
Here's an idea: use servos to pivot the leading-edge support beams to adjust the wings' curvatures, varying their lift characteristics, like flaps.
Why?
Also known as wing-warping...patented in 1906. Abandoned because its less effective than Aileron flaps.
I got you. I’m absolutely making a regalia wing video. 🤩
Let’s go new Flite test vid!!!🎉
I’d love to see some of the older FT kits revamped like the sportster or sea angel!
11:29. That's why I love foam board rc planes. Even if that plane hadn't survived that "landing" it's no big deal... salvage the electronics and build another one. 😎
Years ago I had a regallo kit called the Gymallo. I found the regallo to be one of the most fun aircraft designs I've never flown.
My cat loves Flight test
Good job! I built one of those 10 years ago and put it on my Seniorita... with floats! Flew great off water too!

Exactly the idea I wanted. Zooming in it looks like the aerodynamics and center of gravity have changed.
I'm still hoping for the Wright Flyer with wing warping!!!

“…when golden era flight and Reno air racing was alive and well”. That hits different now 😔
🤦
Oh my gosh guys, that was so much fun! Definitely have to try a rogallo wing airplane!
This would make the coolest flying boat/ship like thing. I picture an old pirate ship with 2 forward motors for yaws & an oversized trailing tail rutter just for looks.
Wonderful job

You guy's keep coming up with cool ideas. Amazing. 1000%

P.S. Maybe do a Temu flite test build off
We can do builds sitting or standing down!! That desk is amazing
Fantastic work, guys!!! 😊
Stay safe there with your families! 🖖😊
You should bring back the twin sparrow and the dart on the store! Those were amazing!
I love the gliders with the planes underneath haha
Getting "the David" would be like receiving the golden ticket in Charlie and the chocolate factory ❤
I have always wanted to make a folding Regallo, launches from a tube and the wings pop out.
I’ve got a challenge for Flite Test: Make a homebuilt sportster ultralight, that can be built for under 2 thousand dollars. This would make full scale aviation so affordable that almost anyone can afford it.
WTH this is so cute! A Warthog too! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Back in early Police drone days (2008 ish) there was a rogallo police camera platform. One of the first to get in trouble with the FAA
Definitely do it ! That's picture is priceless PEACE!
Try "Stol Drags" with RC planes!!
I see Snoopy made a few appearances! And thanks for sharing my F18 river run. It was a fun weekend!
I think you should add the picture of Dave in every 100 kits👍🏻👍🏻
Entertaining as usual. Good job guys.
By the way... is Mr. Joshua Bardwell lost (07:29), into planes now or trying to play golf?
i love how josh makes those funny yet kind witty comments, you 2 are like cartoon rivals❤❤😂😂🤣🤣
Great video, guys...👍
100 percent put a signed David picture in ever 100. That would be awesome
Are you going to make a regala wing kit?
We definitely need an XL Sportster!
Awesum episode, regarding gap-filling with cyanoacrylate baking soda you can use it to fill gaps or build up a fill it or just make cool stuff. And you can't beat the price.
So where's the hydrofoil landspeeder???
Build Ideas:
F-5 Tiger II
General MacArthur's plane from the Korean War
and finally:
Ohio State Buckeye styled plane. Go Bucks!
After finding your guys' channel a couple of months ago,,, I am broke! 😂😅 I have RC planes though? ❤🙏🏻👊🏻Thank you guys for bringing so many smiles to our dials! Love this team!
Very cool build.
I would totally want a "Davo" pic in my kit!
Also a xl sportster or a ft xl sparrow would be awesome!
As always, great video guys! You're my favorite UA-cam channel!

So cool! How much should the up angle be?
I have an aircraft in mind for you to build. How about a Custer Culver channel wing
I'd like to see a bigger version (X2 size at least). How about reinventing H-Gs by going for a wider tube angle? 100 degrees instead of 80? Best wishes from London UK.
I just noticed the laugh on the intro sounds like something from an old sifi move Villon 😮
I was wondering when they would get to rogallo wing setups
This just makes me wish yall flew more kites
Why you haven't built yet a XL Sportster has got me scratching my head..🤔👍
that was very cool

I’d buy 100 kits to get that pic of Dave 😂
so epic!
Dave is an absolute treasure ❤
Amen to that!
Have you all given any thought to making an “Autogyro”?
Very nice
Didn't Josh build a giant balsa wood Sportster back in the day?
Dave needed a rotating motor strut with servo
Hello, i want start build plane, what foam size need to build wings spitfire, racer. Please answer :)

These kits look awesome, if only they didn’t add an extra month than the advertised delivery time
Build one to fly in
Getting old and cannot remember if yall have done a GeeBee in any scale.
Hi guys, i really love your channel, i have a question, is it possible to build a horse-shaped aircraft with flapping wings? If it is will it be able to fly?
You should make an anti air gun with air burst ammunition somehow that would be awesome
Signed picture of Dave please!😀
kan you guys du a Lancaster air balte agents a bf-110
yes to the picktcher
you needed a higher alpha / slanted up wing for ROG
👍👍
*proceeds to buy 100 kits in one order*
when will we have another video about hovercraft
Soon. Thank you for sticking with us through the journey. The last 10% always the hardest, but also the most rewarding :-)
These aircrafts are supeeeeer sketchy.
hey can u guys make a yak 9
Soooo how do I get a signed photograph?
put them in the kit
A year ago? Anything recent?
do another ME262 but use EDF's
Couldn't you use a triangle shaped two string kite?
With 4 tanks the b 17 drop like 40 bombs
you should use these to make flying mario karts from mario kart 8
regala but with a flyin wing so it's a hybrid biplane
Is this like a redbull, commercial?
No one will ever want or be excited about the possibility of an XL Sportster….said no one, ever.
They should make a b 17 bomber
🤗
