Lauren, this was a MIC Drop Video. You gave me the confidence to give this a try on my own. I'm at the beginning of my Van Search, but it will be a ProMaster. The knowledge that you have provided for non-professionals is just immeasurable. The only thing I would do differently is hire an electrician to check my work before I flip the switch.
This is absolutely fantastic! The workmanship you put into that system is top-notch. I'm particularly excited to see the detail you put into the 'how to connect to the starting battery of a Promaster' section on this build. I have not seen that part documented on a promaster as clearly as you showed in this video and I'll definitely be referring people to that section specifically when I get asked about that topic. Well done!
Thank you so much! The EXPLORIST.Life wiring kits made this project a breeze. Every van DIYer will benefit greatly from your resources and product offerings😄
yes wow i'm just starting to watch this video right now and already interested/excited to see the entire thing, even tho i've been finished with my Promaster's electrics for almost two years now... :)

I’m a nerd for instructional videos and I’ve been an avid UA-cam self learner for over a decade. Hands-down this is the absolute best, most thorough and comprehensive, organized and helpful instructional video I have ever seen; on any subject anywhere. I have no idea what your career involves, but you are a brilliant instructor. Much like myself, you leave no stone unturned in your explanation. I can really appreciate that and I can say also that very few people are able to accomplish that level of clarity. I’m not a pro master or a sprinter person. I’m still good with my 87 Westfalia, nonetheless I was enthralled with your video and could not stop watching. I ended up learning a lot about wiring. And that comes from a guy who’s been doing low-voltage wiring for 30 years, for what that’s worth lol. I hope you will continue to make videos for a very long time on a wide variety of subjects. Let me Just say as a 240 volt licensed electrician and solar installer from Australia 🇦🇺🦘🪃you have done a great job from start to finish and the instructions you have given were invaluable to those who have not done this before. Well done and let me just say you have done a better job than a lot of the tradesmen I know 😂 you are methodical neat and thorough from start to finish. Great work and if you are ever in Australia 🇦🇺 and need a job I would hire you in a second. Fabulous content as well. Keep it up. 👌👍😘
Awesome video-I bookmarked this immediately. Keep them coming- thank you!
Amazing explanation and demonstration!! I haven't seen any youtube video that even comes close. And there's a lot of self proclaimed "experts" out there.
This is a really well done video! I watched side-by-side with Nate's video as I did my install and it was really helpful having 2 different people explain the same thing. The best part was how well you explained and showed installing the DC2DC in a Promaster. I had searched for a long time to find a good video on this project and your demonstration made this part of the installation so much easier for me! Thanks, Lauren!
I have seen tons of dye electrical system installation. But never seen such a detailed and neat work like yours. I wish your video can help me do the same system for my boat. You really have diminished the worries i had to do so. The video was so long but i can watch it again and again..... God bless you young lady.

Thank you for creating this video. I believe I can speak for everyone when I say your audience also shared your enthusiasm when you wired the ceiling fan and it powered on (Time 1:22:25)! Also, I now have a greater appreciation for the benefits and convenience of using the EXPLORIST.Life wiring kits.
Haven't watched yet, but I love that this video is over 2 hours. I love a lot of information in one place and i can only assume a 2 hour video has everything I've been looking for. 😅
Great job explaining step by step. Just always be careful when you are working on open bus bar that are “hot”. Keep you body away! Electricity should be respected and revered. Stay safe! 🤙
I put 7000 watts of inverters and 45 kw of 24 volt lifepo4 with my victron charge controllers and another 200 amps of 110 volt to 24 volt powermax chargers all in the cabinet under my campers bed. It was well over 20 grand of components and its amazing but was cooking under the bed. I had to put two small fans.. one pushing one pulling air from under the bed to help cool under there but now its all working great. This lifestyle is very comfortable with the right equipment. Thanks to you allaking videos i was confident in my installation and did it all myself. Thanks for the videos
@@LaurenLawliss I think the victron charge controllers have this thing built in where if they start over heating they start cutting back the charge. Atleast that's what mine seemed to be doing until I installed the little fans. You have a great looking install by the way. O yeah... I got this little temp switch off amazon that controls the fans now and it works really good without me needing to turn them on or off now it's just kinda automatic. Anyways.. thanks for the video
@@LaurenLawliss i wouldn't want that amount of electromagnetic radiation close to me while im sleeping. When I do my build I hope to put my batteries and power system as far from the bed as possible.
Thanks for the great video. You don't need the excess wire from the positive of the battery, the bank would still be balanced as the travel length for the electrons to each battery would still be the same for all the batteries.
GREAT VIDEO! MAYBE EVEN GOAT for van life builds. I used to work for fortune 500 semiconductor company (Dont' want to say which) but this video was MUCH high quality and more educational training videos we got. Great job Lauren! You should legit add to / edit this video as needed and try to sell it to them. I think a lot of companies would buy it in a second.

Hey Nate & Steph, you better hire Lauren soon before she becomes your competition : ) Kidding of course, but Lauren you definitely have a future in Van Building if you choose to pursue it : ) Thank you for sharing...
If it was me I would use a gfci outlet for every outlet. These detect a difference in currents going out of and returning to the receptacle ( .04-.06 milliamperes typically) this way if an appliance faults it won’t become energized The term used by electricians for the connectors used to connect a SO/SOOW cable assembly or single wire in to a box/housing/panel is often referred to as a CGB vs your term “gland” in case someone needs to get an extra one at an electrical supply house. I am impressed with your simple to follow, rudimentary, accurate and step by step instruction and installation of this electrical system. My only extra advice is that there are good reasons for having a manual disconnect switch for every portion of the integrated system especially when troubleshooting or servicing or if a component of the system fails. Perhaps these disconnect switches could be installed just outside of the main battery/inverter compartment in case of a fire. I also like the idea of having the system in a steel or aluminum box ( I realize this could effect Bluetooth connections maybe the dongle could be mounted just outside of it)It will probably never have a catastrophic incident however if it did it a high amperage fault could be ugly. One last thing normally residential/commercial breaker panels are made by a specific manufacturer and typically the panels are UL listed to have only there own brand and model of breaker used in that panel. I noticed you used a Square D single pole 50 amp as well as some Siemens tandem 20 amp breakers in the same 120 volt breaker box. Are both of these brands approved for use in it? I bring this up because I have seen insurance company’s try to deny customer insurance claims because different breakers were used in homes. If I may also recommend insure when you set a clamp ( your shore power socket) that it is on top of the outer Romex insulation/jacketing, otherwise great job.
youve worked this video out very thoughtfully and made it very easy to understand. i noticed you showed 4 different ways to tie in the battery bank and diagonally is the only way to go, it makes the batteries work together, charges them equally and loads them just the same. before i became an rv tech i was diesel tech and this is how we wired our banks together. you will gain maximum MCA or CCA from the batteries. there is a downside though the batteries will wear down togehter and when it comes time to replace them, they all will need replacing but this is offset by the fact you will gain a much longer life out of them.
Man I wish I'd have seen this video way before I screwed my solar up,,,You Had the answers to everything i needed and more,,Godd thing is now I know and can go fix what we did wrong, could not understand why I kept blowing the fuse for the 12 volt side,,Thank you so much for this !
This is just what I need to get the gumption up to start assembling and installing my Explorist Life wiring kit. I'll surely refer back to both video guides and have no issues, I hope!
Thank you very much, Lauren. You are fantastic. This is the best and most precise description of electrical connections I have seen. All your videos are very instructive. You are the best of all UA-cam van builders. Great work!
Hi Lauren, just a note to say it looks like you forgot to replace the black cable separators between the Positive and Negative wires on the Lynx Distributor. Great instruction video!
@@LaurenLawliss Hi Lauren, 4x4s point could be worth correcting or checking off with Nat, as the cable separators are likely designed to ensure insulation, under all conditions bar submersion, between the positive and negative.

Excellent job Lauren! I don't think I've observed a better, more detailed, more competent explanation anywhere! I hope I run into you out there to tell you in person! I'll buy you a coffee or a beer!
Amazing video! Although long, it covers the whole installation. One safety concern - the way you presented it. The solar panels were hooked up before you prepared the wires for the solar disconnect switch. It would be good to have a text note that the solar wires are energized if the sun is shining. I assume you did the work indoors so it wasn’t an issue, but others may be working outdoors and should cover the panels or do the work at night. otherwise just an amazing video.
Yup, always use quality electrical tape. I prefer a heftier dc-dc charger (since I rely less on solar). And lastly, consider using a thermal camera to look for any loose connections!
Correct, that is why I used a serrated washer to cut through the paint and down to the bare metal and also why I mentioned if you don’t have a serrated washer to scratch off the paint😄 Thanks for watching and commenting!
You are great, it's just great to see the knowledge you used. For anyone who builds a solar system, I recommend doing it with the help of a couple of great people with a great contribution!!! for maintenance, and training for building a caravan. EXPLORIST LIFE- DIY CAMPERS..Thanks
Wow... Is all I can say. You are a wealth of knowledge! I hatching a plan now for a battery bank in our travel trailer. I want to do as much solar as I can on the roof, and have enough inverted power to run everything for some off grid camping. You seem like a fascinating woman. Definitely subbing!
Love this vid pls do a video of the voltages/amperages of each battery under load and also the charging voltages of the paralled batteies plssss all the way from aus, trying to figure out whether to use bus bars or the parallel leads like you have.
This is a fantastic install video. The work on the install is top notch and the video presentation is great to watch. One comment I would make is using the metal driver above your batteries. If it falls and lands across terminals it would not be good. Maybe a black plastic bag over the whole battery bank while installing?
Thank you. Amazing detail and explanations. This is by far the best video documenting the electrical install process. I have learnt lots from your videos, thank you for sharing your process.

Also, I now have a greater appreciation for the benefits and convenience of using the EXPLORIST.Life wiring kits.
Thank you for watching! Hahah yeah, it was exciting to see it all work. @EXPLORIST.life wiring kits are a no brainer - it made my life A LOT easier🤩
Haven't watched yet, but I love that this video is over 2 hours. I love a lot of information in one place and i can only assume a 2 hour video has everything I've been looking for. 😅
I’m the same way - love having all the information in one spot 😆
I didn't intend to watch the whole video in one sitting but I did.Very informative, it looks like the kits are the way to go.Awesome video.
Hahaha thanks for sticking it out the full 2 hours. The kits are a game changer. Made my life so much easier and highly recommend😁
Just caught this one. Clear, concise, with great explanations and demonstrations. TY for taking the time to make this video.

Wonderful work, exceptional video, well thought through, well organized, well executed. Simply exceptional. Thank you for this very fine work.
Thank you for the kind words - it means a lot to me 💖
The detail, quality and informative nature of your videos are virtually unheard of. THANK YOU!! SUBSCRIBED!
Thank you, thank you! Welcome🫶🏻
Great job explaining step by step. Just always be careful when you are working on open bus bar that are “hot”. Keep you body away! Electricity should be respected and revered. Stay safe! 🤙
What an excellent job explaining this install! I even think this old man can do it now. Thank You, Thank You, THANK YOU!!!!
Thank you for watching! With the very straight forward EXPLORIST.Life wiring kits I am confident ANYONE can do this😇
I watched this from start to finish. Extremely detailed video well planned and executed. 💯💯
Thanks for watching and commenting 🫶🏻
So many battle scars on your hands great work 👍
Hahahah yeah, my hands have looked better😅
This video is AMAZING! Thank you for sharing all of your resources!
Thank you for the kind words🫶🏻
Legend. This just made everything make sense with some very handy tips along the way. Thank you :)
Glad you found it helpful!
Wow! Nice setup. I’m glad my video gave you the confidence to do your install. I am so glad to hear it is working well, enjoy☺️
Just wondering how your power system is doing? Is it getting really hot being in the confined space.
Not at all😄 I have installed a vent in the back and a 12v fan for air flow to prevent it from overheating. So far, so good!
From my research, talking to the experts and manufactures, they all advised this was the correct way to do it 😁
Battle born needs to hire you to handle their social media. That video was so over the top amazing.
I appreciate the kind words!
Wow, you are more equiped than most electricians out there. I really hope you get to use it all more than once.
Haha I enjoyed this project a lot 😅
WOW. Cute, Handy and Smart 😊
Welcome!
Thank you for watching and commenting! I appreciate the kind words, means a lot🥰❤️
@@LaurenLawlissDearest Laura, I also am business and have business and believe business would buy you, please consider us when you need PVC piping 20-60cm x any length, we can pipe
An absolutely superb video for anyone coming to solar/battery backup ( in no way limited to van conversions)
Thank you! Appreciate it😄
Hey Nate & Steph, you better hire Lauren soon before she becomes your competition : ) Kidding of course, but Lauren you definitely have a future in Van Building if you choose to pursue it : ) Thank you for sharing...
Hahaha thank you for the comment! I would love to build vans full time🤩
Very well done, informative and easy to follow.
I agree with fellow poster about battle born over priced items.
Thanks! Yes, certainly a costly install but was perfect for me.
If it was me I would use a gfci outlet for every outlet. These detect a difference in currents going out of and returning to the receptacle ( .04-.06 milliamperes typically) this way if an appliance faults it won’t become energized
The term used by electricians for the connectors used to connect a SO/SOOW cable assembly or single wire in to a box/housing/panel is often referred to as a CGB vs your term “gland” in case someone needs to get an extra one at an electrical supply house.
Using some electrical tape wrapped around your tool can help to avoid accidental arcing ( and wear you safety glasses)
Correct. I do have GFCI outlets in the van and a few master switches for different parts of the system. Electrical tape is a great tool too.
Damn girl youre a perfectionist x
It’s a gift and a curse 😆
How does this girl only have 14k subs? Amazing video
Thank you 💖
youve worked this video out very thoughtfully and made it very easy to understand. i noticed you showed 4 different ways to tie in the battery bank and diagonally is the only way to go, it makes the batteries work together, charges them equally and loads them just the same. before i became an rv tech i was diesel tech and this is how we wired our banks together. you will gain maximum MCA or CCA from the batteries. there is a downside though the batteries will wear down togehter and when it comes time to replace them, they all will need replacing but this is offset by the fact you will gain a much longer life out of them.
Thanks for the comment!
Man I wish I'd have seen this video way before I screwed my solar up,,,You Had the answers to everything i needed and more,,Godd thing is now I know and can go fix what we did wrong, could not understand why I kept blowing the fuse for the 12 volt side,,Thank you so much for this !
I’m glad you found the video helpful. Best of luck with your fixes💖☺️
This is just what I need to get the gumption up to start assembling and installing my Explorist Life wiring kit. I'll surely refer back to both video guides and have no issues, I hope!
How exciting!! The kits will make the install a breeze. Good luck!
What an amazing detailed video. Thank you for making it and great work with the installation.
I appreciate it! Glad you like it.
Hello Mahmoud, I am from Iran. I have a solar power system at home and I learned a lot from you. Good luck.
Welcome! Glad you found the video helpful.
Wow! What a tutorial!
Thank you.
Thank you!!
Thank you very much, Lauren. You are fantastic. This is the best and most precise description of electrical connections I have seen. All your videos are very instructive. You are the best of all UA-cam van builders. Great work!
Thank you! Your kind words mean so much🥰
Hi Lauren, just a note to say it looks like you forgot to replace the black cable separators between the Positive and Negative wires on the Lynx Distributor.
Great instruction video!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@LaurenLawliss Hi Lauren, 4x4s point could be worth correcting or checking off with Nat, as the cable separators are likely designed to ensure insulation, under all conditions bar submersion, between the positive and negative.
Glad you found the video helpful! Good luck on your project.
@@LaurenLawliss thank you.
Superb content & dialogue. Upgrading my A Class motorhome with Victron solar panels & controllers I found this video extremely helpful. From an old grandfather, big thanks.
Thank you for the kind words! Best of luck with your install🥰
Great job
Thank you!!
Excellent and informative! Saved this in my GMC/ Overland/ do later Playlist lol
Glad you liked it!
I love how specific she is... She literally says the full 100% exact name of every single component over and over again lol.
It got very repetitive but I’m glad you found it helpful 😆
You help me to move forward. And Don t be afraid to build my van❤️. Thanks
That means so much! I am glad I can help. Best of luck with your build❤️
This series has been really informative and watching your progress is awesome! The leds under your cabinets....A+! Can't wait to see the finished project! Nice work, seriously!
Thank you for the kind words - I appreciate it a lot!
From the other end of the world, I am amazed with such talent and so detailed project you've done. You need to be proud that a lot of people are following your steps. I loved how your hands looked during installation. Wish you good luck
Thank you for the kind words! Honestly, same; I like seeing evidence of the hard work I’ve done on my hands hahaha😂
very very proud of your mom and dad you born very very inteligent you
Thanks for watching.
Im just so impressed, i think that was the best presentation i have e er seen when it comes down to hining in on the job. I needed all the work up to the real install, and yours was perfect, like a diving board when finially getting to the pool ! Hu rahhhh !
I am so glad you found it helpful! Best of luck with your install, you got this🙌🏼😆
Wow girl! I mean WOW! GREAT JOB, BE PROUD!!! Hay, want to do my wiring? AND THE VIDEO TOO, WOW!!!😮 SO complete, I guess some people DO know how to communicate still but not very many.
Wow! Thank you for the kind words; it means a lot🥰🙌🏼
Thank you so much!!
I think this might be the best electrical install video I have ever seen and I think I have watched most of them ;)
Thank you, Amy! That means a lot🥹
That was such a great build, wow! Grat work!
Thanks a bunch!
What a wonderful detailed video. You are certainly the embodiment of Girl Power! Keep up the great work.
Thanks for watching and commenting! I appreciate the kind words🥰
Your attention to detail is outstanding!
Thank you!😄
In 2017 Battleborn hooked me up with all my components as well, except for my Renogy solar panels. I can’t say enough good things about Battleborn.
Same here! Top notch products.
Excellent job Lauren!
I don't think I've observed a better, more detailed, more competent explanation anywhere!
I hope I run into you out there to tell you in person!
I'll buy you a coffee or a beer!
Thank you! Your kind words mean so much. See you on the road🤞🏼
Good point! Thank you for mentioning that.
Yup, always use quality electrical tape. I prefer a heftier dc-dc charger (since I rely less on solar). And lastly, consider using a thermal camera to look for any loose connections!
Thanks for the comment!
FANTASTIC. Whatched the whole video. Too bad I never seen such a distribution panel for 220VAC. It is a beautifull electrical installation 😊
Appreciate it!!!❤️❤️
Typically, you send the chassis ground hole to bare metal for ensured ground contact. Otherwise, an epic van electrical system(s) tutorial! Well done
Thank you, Avi!
Wow... Is all I can say. You are a wealth of knowledge! I hatching a plan now for a battery bank in our travel trailer. I want to do as much solar as I can on the roof, and have enough inverted power to run everything for some off grid camping. You seem like a fascinating woman. Definitely subbing!
Thank you! Sounds like a fun project ahead of you. Best of luck😄
I hope this video made you some cash. Because you've done an amazing job. Thank you so much!
Thanks you🥰
Best Install guide on the internet.. can you do boat plumbing next please.. safe travels
Thank you so much!!
Thank you. And yes, you are correct. Something to cover the battery bank would have been smart😁
This video is so well-organized and I look forward to learning a lot from you! Thank you!
I appreciate it! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Thank you. Amazing detail and explanations. This is by far the best video documenting the electrical install process. I have learnt lots from your videos, thank you for sharing your process.
Thank you for your kind words!!! It means so much. I appreciate you being here☺️
