That was bloody awesome!! Super impressed with your GQ and how it handled the track. Also you two how you handled yourselves out there by yourselves. Wicked calm.
Awesome video, love the car, look forward to seeing it after the rebuild. Wish you would use tree protectors. Adds stuff all time to the recovery and you won't kill the best winch trees.
Cheers mate, appreciate the feedback, like I said on a previous comment somewhere it’s not like the big tracks.. like old Tele track or little red etc. it only sees maybe 10 cars a year, and it’s some of the thickest most dense bush on earth, we wouldn’t make a dent in 1000 years.. but on the same note if I’m going to be filming myself and chucking it online I should be setting a good example & so I’ll be more mindful cheers. 🫡
Piss poor excuse not to use a tree trunk protector mate. Takes next to no more time to use and saves the winch rope also. Plus think about your doing the social media thing time to tick the boxes just found your channel and am sucbribing still anyway
@@toey1977 yeah you’re not wrong dude, I did say that in my comment, regardless of whether I think it’s necessary or not I should be setting an example., cheers for the sub mate
Appreciate the comment and feedback, I do think they’re important in a lot of places, but I wouldn’t say it’s a shame here really, only sees a couple of groups a year & it’s a fast paced track you have to be quick to get out of water etc. & to be honest the more trees out of the way in there the better, if you see the drone shot the place is a jungle.. when we were in cape york or other popular places - absolutely tree trunk protectors were used every time.. But it’s also something I didn’t even think about while filming, and probably should be something I DO think about if I’m going to be filling & demonstrating to others good practices. 🫡 again - appreciate it mate.
I'm ngl, first time I saw your rig I thought you would be a typical dude with all the bells and whistles and just unnecessarily send their 4wd until it breaks, but I respect you now I discovered your channel because you still give it a solid crack but arent stupid. very nice rig, very mint video 💪💪
Wow I really appreciate that mate, and appreciate the honest feedback thank you. I think having a GQ just beckons that opinion to be honest, but yeah certainly not afraid to have a good go but I respect the old girl at the same time. Thanks again mate. 🙏
You know I did wonder while I was editing whether it was MK or MQ!! 🫣 I think “MK” is just the thing people say regardless, I do.. like “70 series” etc. thanks dude! Appreciate the kind words.
Haha cheers boss, honestly in that place if you don’t feed it a bit you’re winching for hours. 👌🏻 Ahh, 3rd engine, but the last 2 were tuned for play, this one is tuned back a bit.. and I did 5 CVs with the GQ diffs & haven’t done a GU CV yet. 👌🏻
Yeah you can but they’re very very very expensive haha, saying that though I’m on like my 8th alternator so I probably would have paid for it by now! Cheers mate 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hi Do you need some great lighting for your car to help you better driving, off-road? We're the pro auto lighting manufacturer for nearly 20 year and we're looking for sponsorship!
Awesome video mate, shows a lot of interesting things bigger you tube channels don’t. You got me to stronach after watching your old ones, but you haven’t twisted my arm on taking my car to here yet haha. Look forward to the future videos 👍🏻
Thats just too good..... and then there is send it...... up here on Flinders island we don't have the water you blokes get down there....we don't even have real rivers. Thats the best effort on that track I have seen as yet. The fella with the Subaru is a fair second.
I grew up spending a lot of time with relatives on flinders! Still have relatives there to this date! Super keen to bring my bus over for some wheeling and camping, even just up to the river, see Stanley & Jackson’s cove again!
Typically winch ropes don’t store too much energy when under load, not like a snatch strap they aren’t elastic, typically fall straight to the ground but yeah you’re right, should keep distance for sure he generally is like half to the side or half behind a tree etc.
Great drive given the time of year and weather recently. Track has gotten much worse and rivers surprisingly not too bad. One track I don't want to do again...but 37s on the old TB did help a lot 2 years ago!
Just in some spots where you might have a steep exit or to get up and out of something, pulls the car up and out on a better angle, obviously only do this if you have a good tree, the higher you go on a small tree could pull it over.
I'd be more concerned about the hook going around the tree and back onto the rope. Weakens the rating by 20%! If you are going to be slack and can't be bothered with a tree sling, then take the rope around the tree three or four times before back onto itself. Two reasons - the friction around the tree takes the pull off the line itself AND gets more rope off the drum. Less on drum - more pull on less layers.
Tim, you absolute psycho (I just subscribed after that video). Seriously need some skills, balls of steel, mechanical aptitude and some spare coin to be tackle tracks like that at ANY time, let alone solo vehicle. Oh a good rig helps too. Fascinating viewing and brilliantly filmed too. Well done.
Yo Tim’s copping WAY too much flack for not using a tree protector from the city blokes that go wheeling with their 31’s and the missus in the passenger seat. Chill out boys and just enjoy some sick wheeling on your tv screens. It’s the $1000 track, 1 of the capes trees would see more winching in a season than all the $1000 trees in the entire time it’s been a track😂
Facts dude, I still don’t think it matters somewhere like $1000 deep in the Tassie scrub.. but at the same time if I’m gonna be on here filming myself I reckon setting an example for people that might not do it somewhere popular that sees 100 cars a day etc. appreciate the comment mate cheers, you get it. 🤐😅
Can't wait to send my GQ down here with you in a few months 😁
Oh mate, it’s on.. couple of screaming forklifts in the Tassie scrub.

Ahaha that’s mint dude, I know what you mean I get sucked into some things, that’s awesome to hear thank you!

Locker brands: only engage lockers when ABSOLUTELY required.
When are they needed on the $1000 track: yes.
You couldn’t me more right mate ahaha I love this, they were literally in the whole time, switched the front one off for some of the tighter stuff.
You’re a very good confident off-roader/ bush basher! On even keel with Tyler Thompson:
Splitting hairs I reckon. 👍 well done!!
Haha that’s a big compliment thank you, as he’s a good friend of mine as well as someone I look up to.
Gotta be the hardest track in OZ. Top marks for your patience in setting up camera's every time. BTW, the wreck was an MQ - round headlights.

Some great offroad driving skills. takes lot of guts to do this track solo. enjoyed every second of this video. thanks

Bloody unreal mate, wanna see more please
I definitely plan to! Thank you so much!

Can you get a sealed alternator….. that would save extra work on the tracks. Love the content.
Yeah you can but they’re very very very expensive haha, saying that though I’m on like my 8th alternator so I probably would have paid for it by now!

Oooft, she’ll eat it up mate!

where is the start to this track ?
Near Waratah mate :)
@@timmyhasheart awesome im down in the huon valley ill defiantly need to make the trip up to check it out

Right at the start is "Absolutely Gutted - Dylan Sitts", the hut scene it's "Breathe In, Breathe Out - Mattias Tell"
can't wait to see more would love to see a build video on the gu and the gq chop
Yeah I’ll have to do something with the GU for sure, and yeah I’ll absolutely be documenting the chop, going to start gutting it this weekend I think!

Haha good! Get on it 🫡
killa video mate what camera did u use
Honestly it was just my phone haha, oh and a GoPro 7 for the in car stuff, Mavic Air for the drone!
what are the engine mods youve done ?
Not sure what you mean mate, the engine is a crate engine TD42Ti off patrolapart, it’s completely stock other than a UFI pump, Arashi 18g & HD clutch.
That’s keen! Nice work
Haha oath, cheers mate!
what tires you have for this trip?
They’re Maxxis RAZR 37x12.5r17
